Just digging 2 blocks into the wall would've given you some space to plan out your escape without being under fire from the root archers but you're right, tunneling isn't too fun
It was impressive that you were able to lose your main gear AND backup gear in one death. The hole in the floor worked! Your gear was getting too good anyways.

Thanks for the series! I really enjoyed watching your playthrough, rough as it was at some points (although those parts probably increased my enjoyment, I am a CTM mapmaker after all). I think this was your longest series for one of my maps, and you did a lot of cuts.
Hello everyone. I've made another jam map for the nightmare themed jam called Nyctophobia. It's still in beta until I can make sure everything is working properly, but it will release soon. If anyone is interested in testing and providing feedback please let me know!
Here is a picture of the map:
The map's theme is fear of the dark and it is centered around a ruined city with lots to explore, challenging areas, and unique custom mobs.
I'm still working on polishing up Nyctophobia for a full release, but in the mean time another jam has come and I have created Sea of Cinders, a retro CTM inspired map!

I've started playing Sea of Cinders (2 wools & 2 deaths so far) and am enjoying it.
A few random bits of feedback:
The Lore on some items is way too long; I found a piece of magic redstone dust in the Flameshroom area, and it was completely impossible to read what it does without changing my GUI size. Please break Lore text into multiple lines to accommodate large GUIs.
There are a lot of lighting glitches on the surface; for future reference, I think if the 'lava sea level' (top layer of lava) were a number of the form 16N+1 you would be less likely to get these glitches (as the entire 'section' of area above it would be represented and Minecraft would store lighting values).
I found the Yellow Wool room to be very difficult; dunno if the rest of the map will be getting a whole lot harder, or if that room was too hard for where it appears early in the map.
I wish the monument area were 'The Void' biome so there would not be enemies there.
Overall though I am digging it; I like resource constraints, and does have a bit of an old-school feel. The constant threat of losing everything to lava is stressful
Hey Lorgon, I'm glad to hear you're enjoying the map so far!
You're absolutely right about the lore text, I didn't notice on my monitor since I use a pretty small GUI but I noticed the same issue on a stream the other day and will be fixing it.
I didn't fully understand why the lighting glitches were happening so I'll try out your suggestion to hopefully fix that.
The wool room in Yellow is a bit of a crap-shoot. I've had people complain it was too easy and people like yourself who have complained about it being too difficult. I think some players may be spending a lot of time in the room above it and spawning mobs. I'm going to try to sink the room down more in the next update so that doesn't happen.
I will be doing something about spawns at the monument although I'm not sure which direction I want to go with it.
Are you recording the map for YouTube or just playing it for yourself? Either way I really appreciate the feedback, it's been excellent so far (including feedback on the thread that Render passed on)!
I've been working on an update for Sea of Cinders and after some thorough testing with RenderXR it is finally complete! I've added on a lot to the final two dungeons of the map, as well as numerous other improvements to loot, balance, and other content.
The map itself is fine in terms of loot and power scaling (though I did run out of arrows at one point. I could've avoided the problem by utilizing the chickens, but that's way too much grinding. My biggest complaint is that it's very grey. Very, very grey. The caves are grey except one, the land is grey, the mountains are grey, the towers are grey, the last area is...not as grey. Oh, and that place...I really had no idea what to do to get through the Grey wool hole of doom. I wound up pearling to the bottom and just sitting there as ghasts went nuts everywhere. Peaceful got me out because that was about it for me.
The rest got no real complaints. Some of the traps were cheeky, but I'm pretty much aware of everything from falling gravel to carpets bursting to bed bombs. I thank the Dimensional Doors mod for seasoning me there.
Overall, I'd give it a 6/10. It was a fun challenge, but was really bland visually.

Thanks for playing the map, and thanks for your feedback! The overabundance of grey is actually something I plan on changing in the next update. The original intent was to have areas feel more connected by sharing common themes, and to give the map a barren feel, but I have received feedback that it is visually bland after a while. Thanks again for playing!
Very stressful, pretty difficult, but still a really good map!
I really enjoyed the playthrough! There have been some improvements since the version you played but I really enjoyed the tense moments in your series.
I'm also happy to say that Sea of Cinders is now on Realms! It's a great place to try out the map with some friends if you haven't played it yet. The download here will still work as it has. All feedback on the map is welcome.
I just finished Sea of Cinders; it's a pretty good map!
I've really enjoyed the gray wool. Although I fell into many traps, there are a lot lmao
Just kidding, I loved it!
Glad you enjoyed the map! Gray wool has a more old school style that some people have a hard time with, so it's nice to hear you had fun beating it. Sea of Cinders is probably my most trap heavy map. There's a couple of really mean ones that seem to get most people.

Hello everyone, I just wanted to share a couple of series of Forest's Heart I thought were good:
TJ's first episode of his 4 episode series on the map:
and War's series on it (a livestream VOD):

Appreciate everyone who's checked out the map so far!
the spectral blasts don't recharge after using like they're supposed to.
I live!

Thanks to RenderXR for helping test the map!
I still plan to release Nyctophobia soon, but I want to redo one of the areas as it didn't turn out how I wanted it.
