Tired of the extreme grind in sky survival maps? Looking for a real chalenge?
-->Try this map!
The overworld is 1 layer of dirt hanging over the void. All you have to survive is an end portal frame and a sieve. Both the Nether and End are completely empty of all blocks.
Oh, and when night falls, there's nothing to stop the mobs from spawning...
Good luck, You'll need it!
Make sure you have the Ex Nihilo Mod (http://www.minecraft...lock-companion-mod/) installed, and change the config options for end and nether void generation to true.
I would highly recommend checking out this let's play by Tomtaru:

Nothing to stop them spawning, but there is something to prevent them from coming....
You like castles and drawbridges?
Oh and, for anyone who's interested and don't know, there is a way to get blocks from a 1 block tall/deep platform without losing even one(ok, you can lose some, but unless you're really bad, you cant get near 99%)

I just thought of a much more hardcore challenge map that this.
Instead of a layer of dirt, a layer of planks and an enderportal, no sieve. You have to kill spiders to make the sieve, then keep on killing mobs to get stuff to compost into dirt. Not to mention that a poorly made cobble generator can set the whole place on fire.
I was also thinking have the sky covered by bedrock, so it's always dark, but that could ether prevent anyone from progressing, or just give too much mob drops, so...
*puts it in anyways*

That does sound quite intense. Not the kind of thing I would make, as I tend to put minimalism as my top priority in map making, but I really like the way you've designed/implemented it. I will definitely be trying your map out when I get a chance to put together some mods to play it with.
I just can't believe it.I accidentally opened my world when I was playing vanilla, and I ended up getting rid of all the mod stuff, saplings, the sieve, all my machines... everything....
And I had no trees.... Now I have to re-start my hardcore challenge map...

I changed the map a tiny bit so it's actually(somewhat) survivable now

Not hard enough for you?
(gosh, people are hard to please...)

Yep
(if you don't mind me asking)
Have a look at Tomtaru's let's play:
I was going to dig next to the sieve and try to get the dirt in before I died
ideally, you shouldn't kill yourself for any reason.
Ideally, I would be playing in a normal world, with all the benefits, and have all the items I want
But what's the fun in that?

You use a half of something...
ssshhhh....
more spoiler tags, you think?
Nah, it's fine.
The first one never actually crossed my mind when I was making the map.
And I turned a good sized chunk of land into a great pasture to get my animals.

The downloads will still be available but any future updates shall be ceased.
I may make another map to showcase Ex Nihilo if/when it updates to 1.7 (or 1.8).
Thanks to everyone who played the map!
