When I loaded the map, everything seemed fine. Then I got to the sky den and there were no npc's and the large majority of the sky den was gone. What do I do?
I put all the eye of enders in the end portal and the black portal block thingies didn't show up. Should I just spawn them in or do I have to do something else?
Hey ChocolateySyrup, do you have a map download for mac? it's currently only a .rar download :/ please reply or add a mac download please.
thanks a lot!
The map download is mac compatible as is. There are plenty of mac .rar apps. Two of the most popular are Stuffit Expander and RAR. For stuffit there is a free version half way down the downloads page. RAR is the UNIX version of WinRAR and you can find mac downloads on the downloads page.
Edit: Posting the same thing twice on the same page within a couple hours is bad form.
Please Help! I Went to get this map because It looked really fun. When I got to the SkyDen A lot was missing, there was no marble and most of the walls were replaced be red alloy furnaces! When I looked in the chest too, all there was was a block breaker. No screwdriver or timer (Which makes me think a mods not installed, or correctly) I use the FTB launcher with Yogcraft since i don't have 1.4.7 anymore. I'm sure i followed the instructions EXACTLY. Heres some pictures. Thanks!
Looks to me like you didn't delete the config folder. Close everything, delete the config folder and your skyden save. Recopy the save in from the .rar and start up the game again. Feel free to go into creative (/gamemode 1) and fly over to the den and make sure the blocks are there before you start farming cobble. Don't forget to go back to survival (/gamemode 0).
hey RobFaie, I used Stuffit Expander before posting here and all i got out of it was the README.txt, and nothing else. Do you have a minecraft file for mac with everything install, or know someone with one?
I think the download is broken. I downloaded forge, and it worked fine, but when I added skyden it broke my forge. it came up with an alert that forge was not loading correctly. I am using the 1.4.6 version of MCF, and Minecraft version changer to change to 1.4.6. Do I need to try 1.4.7, or can i just not play the map?
@goingintoyou
No it will not work for the mods required are only 1.4.7 (Redpower) Therefore you cannot use a higher or lower version.
So you were correct that is a noob question of course you didnt read the ENTIRE openning post.
My hands typed it before my brain caught up, i realized it wrong after i thought about the other mods, and which of course are not updated.
Btw, i thought the end portal was a 2x2 hole, and i was able to create the mininum stone before it was permitted because zombies drop iron for some reason.
Pick a modpack from the main page that you don't use and don't plan to use. I personally chose the YogCraft Modpack. I never use it. It really doesn't matter what it is as long as you won't want to use it anytime soon and it's a 1.4.7 modpack.
launch the modpack so it fully installs all the mods and the minecraft .jar.
Close the modpack and reopen the FTB launcher.
Select the modpack of yourchoice and click "Edit Mod Pack" in the middle near the top. In the bottom left corner of this window click "Open Folder"
Navigate one level up so you are in a folder called "minecraft" with your typical folders(bin, config, coremods, saves, stats, texturepacks, etc.) For me the full file path for this folder was ~/FTB/YogCraft/minecraft.
Delete the following folders: config, coremods, mods, saves. If you don't delete the config folder you will have missing blocks.
Drag the contents of your Sky Den .rar into this folder.
From this point forward if FTB launcher asks you to update the modpack do not let it. It will reinstall the old pack. It will not update individual mods.
Relaunch the FTB launcher and launch the modpack you've been working with.
Create a new world and load in to make sure things are working and no errors are being thrown. If everything looks like it's running well you should be good to play Sky Den.
If you decided that you would like to play without one of the optional mods such as enchanting plus then all you have to do is open the FTB launcher, select your modpack and click "Edit Mod Pack" in the middle near the top of the window. From here pick the mod you'd like to play without and click "Disable >>". If you at somepoint would like to play with the mod again, select it in the right side list and click "<< Enable".
If you have any issues, or parts of this guide seem unclear, please let me know. I have not played this yet, but when I do I'll post fixes for any issue I come across.
When I try this is comes up with the error code, Forge ModLoader has found world ID mismatches.
Forget it. I have done everything possible to get this map to work. It just doesn't work anymore. If you run on 1.4.7 you don't get ANY redpower blocks, and if you run on 1.4.6 you can't even run minecraft. I have tried using FTB, tekkit, and various other methods to play this map, and none work. This is one of the biggest disappointments I have ever run into. This map looked really fun, but at this point in time, it is broken.
Which enchantment are you refering to? Wither Skeletons are very picky about where they will spawn. They only spawn within certain bounding boxes in certain parts of nether fortresses. It would be a shot in the dark to try and build a spawning pad that happened to be where a fortress would normally spawn. I suppose you could take the seed, make a creative world and fly around for a fortress write down the coords and then do it, but what's the point in all that to farm skulls?
You can buy sand from the herbalist for a cactus. The idea is to take the one sand you start with to grow cactus then trade the cactus for more sand to grow your farm, and for glass.
Actually it was when I was building a bridge to the Blaze Spawner, I was using cobblestone instead of the slabs like I did in the overworld (using half slab bottoms to negate spawning on the bridges) when like 5 Wither Skeletons spawned on it AS I was building it. Of course, because there were no railings yet so they fell straight off but because of one of the custom enchantments (non-vanilla), you get the head of the mob. (Zombie to Zombies, Skeleton to Skeletons, Creeper to Creepers. Then on top of that Zombie to Pigmen.) I think it was the Vorpal enchantment that did that.

Use MultiMC, grab 1.4.7, use the in-program downloader to get the appropriate Forge, place the folders from the download in the instance folder, play, .... , profit. That's how I did it.

ID 241-245 are missing. How do i fix this.
241-245 are redpower blocks. Make sure you delete the config folder. Also make sure you have all the redpower modules in your mods folder. If you have logged into the map at all you'll need to reinstall the map to get the blocks.

That's rather lucky having fortress terrain right there. I'll have to play around with it a bit. Vorpal works on all mob except wither skeletons. If you can spawn wither skeletons then you also have to be careful of spawning blaze.
NEI won't show up even when I try pressing "O" to enable it. How do I fix this problem
When you click on the "Mods" button on the splash screen does NEI show up in the list? If so what version is it listed as? Also in game when you open your inventory is there an "Options" button in the lower left hand corner? The NEI panel on the right doesn't show up in creative, and if you're in recipe mode the option button is the only thing to show up at all. If you want to use NEI while in creative make sure you turn on cheat mode, and you can click on the C button near the top until it becomes a C+ which gives you the right side panel and full creative mode.
Somewhere in the vastness of another universe, there is a realm of endless sky. And every so often, by powers not fully understood, individuals are torn from their world and thrown here, into the infinite sky.
You have just found yourself transported to the sky realm. Abandon hope of getting home, for if you want to survive, you will have to make your home here. Farm resources, avoid lethal drops, expand your world by hand, try to make your way in this strange place, and most importantly, find the other stranded souls who call the mysterious Sky Den their home. If you want to thrive in this hostile world, you will certainly need their help!
Overview
Sky Den is a new beast of Sky Survival maps. It features NPCs, quests, and plenty of challenges to help bolster the traditional Sky Survival experience. It's a low-pressure but high-risk map that encourages free building, and has been carefully balanced to provide an expansive and emergent experience to any player. Unlike many Sky Survival maps, Sky Den has been designed to allow every material and item in the game to be renewable. You can build an infinite world and craft whatever you like, without having to worry about running out of diamonds, or not having enough iron.
The map features a progression of resources that is structured using NPCs, Quests, and Challenges. Utilize the tools at your disposal and work with the world's strange and colorful inhabitants until at last the secrets of the Sky Den are at your complete control!
Sky Den is a mod-assisted map! It comes packed with the necessary mods to allow you to progress. It cannot be played vanilla!
All mod authors have their mods linked and credited in the topic, pack, and tags. This is not a mod pack - it is a specific map reliant on specific mods and not intended to be used for other purposes.

Features
A traditional Sky Survival experience: Start from humble beginnings on a tiny island in the sky, and from there build up and out, until an entire world completely of your own design has grown and flourished around you. No caves, no tunnels and mines, just open sky and your own creativity in a fight for survival and success.
A cast of interactive characters: Over half a dozen NPCs have made their home in this realm. Find their home, the Sky Den, and find them! They'll offer challenges, trades, and items to help you progress. Each character is custom-designed with their own skin, dialog trees, inventories, and more.
A Quest system that encourages and deepens the Sky Survival experience, rather than distracting from it. Challenges are built in to the map, rather than just being a list in this topic. Instructions are included with books and quests, in-game, and a carefully-structured system of rewards will help you progress through tiers.
Balanced and renewable resources are available. Unlike many Sky Survival maps, Sky Den has been designed to ensure that every single block in the game can be farmed. There's nothing you'll be without, or face the risk of running out forever (barring just tossing all your stuff off the edge, of course).
A precisely-constructed sky realm: Several islands are scattered near the start. Make your way to them and discover what they have to offer, and find the eponymous Sky Den itself!

Getting Started and Map Rules
Rules are rules! Cheating and breaking the map is possible, but you're only runining it for yourself. Here are the basic guidelines:
The rules of Sky Den are pretty simple:
*Most instructions will be included in the map itself. Books, signs, and characters will all tell you pretty much everything you need to know, so listen to what the map tells you and you should be okay.
*Pre-made structures can't be torn down for parts. Don't take lanterns and expensive decorations out of the Sky Den itself, for instance, or cannibalize the walls for building material. Those aren't for you! If a structure CAN be torn down, a sign will tell you so.
*Do not use the MINIUM STONE, the ENCHANTING TABLE, the THAUMCRAFT CRUCIBLE, or the MYSTCRAFT DESCRIPTIVE BOOK until you have been given permission to do so. The nature of these items makes restricting their access very difficult by recipe, so instead, you have to be on the honor system. The mod will make it pretty clear when you can use these things, usually by just giving them to you.
*Don't use mods (or parts of mods) that change the balance too strongly. If you have a mod that lets you craft diamonds out of dirt, an IndustrialCraft conversion machine that creates new materials, etc., you probably shouldn't use them.
*THE RULE OF THUMB IS: Mods other than the ones in the above list should not be used to get NEW resources. For example: If you already have a way to get iron, you can probably use a mod that gets you more iron. But don't use a mod that makes free clay if you haven't already gotten renewable clay in some other way! A mod that does that will probably still upset the balance, but at least it won't totally break it.
There is a way to "win" Sky Den. If you just keep playing I'm sure you'll find it!
Some people have encountered an error in the "Four Trials" quest. During this quest, you speak to the Slime, Hennepin, who transports you to the area for the Trials. Sometimes this fails to activate and when you ask him to transport you, he does not. This is due to the unfinished nature of the transport system in the mod CustomNPCs.
This is easily fixed however:
Give yourself an NPC Wand. This can be done through NEI.
Equip the wand and right click Hennepin.
On the tabs at the top, choose "Advanced"
To the right of the box labeled "Transporter" you'll see a button that says "Edit". Click that.
Click "Default" in the center of your screen.
Click on the box that says "default name" and type something in here, like "Home". It doesn't matter what you name it.
Make sure the box below it says "available when discovered". If not, click on that box until it does.
Click back.
Click the X in the upper right to close the NPC edit interface.
Destroy the NPC wand or toss it from the edge.
Right click Hennepin (without the wand equipped) and choose "I'm ready for the trials!"
The transport menu should open up as it was meant to.
Changelog
1.01: Fixed a spawn bug that would occur if the player died before resting in the bed, causing them to die repeatedly.
1.0: Initial release
Installation Instructions
1. You must have Minecraft with Forge already installed. Minecraft Version 1.4.6 or 1.4.7 SHOULD both be compatible without problems, but this map was designed for 1.4.6. IF YOU HAVE ANY PROBLEMS WITH THIS STEP, THERE ARE PLENTY OF TUTORIALS ONLINE FOR INSTALLING FORGE. They will not be covered here.
2. Extract this entire .rar file to your Minecraft directory, usually located in "C:\Users\[your username]\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft" for Windows 7 users. This should put the map in your saves directory, and the custom NPC skins where they'll need to be. It will also install the maps included in the pack.
3. Just run Minecraft and choose to play the Sky Den map!
Required Mods
==VITAL MODS==
Without these mods, the map will not work as intended or will not be able to be completed. They are included by default.
These mods will not necessarily break balance and may be recommended to help progress at certain points, but are not required to play. They are included by default.
+*Rotten Flesh to Leather by EpicBlargh http://www.minecraft...-fully-updated/
This mod allows you to cook rotten zombie flesh into leather, making it easier to get some supplies prior to establishing an expensive cow farm.
+*Enchanting Plus by mssodin28 and (originally by xkyouchoux) http://www.minecraft...us-v1121111110/
This will allow you to pick your enchantments manually, and may simply prove useful.
*Not Enough Items by ChickenBones http://www.minecraft...ckenbones-mods/
A handy in-game tool for looking up recipes. Also provides cheats in case the progress breaks at some point (or you really want to spoil the map for yourself!)
