Hey everyone! I wanted to introduce you to my first downloadable creation:
For 6, 8 or 10 players.
Players spawn a short way away from the map. Once everyone has joined, you can press the button at spawn. You're teleported to the Team Selection room. Step on a pressure pad to join a team. If you need to switch teams, there's an option for that. Gear up from the chests, and press the ready button. You're spawned on the map, and almost immediately, one of the 4 towers will produce a beacon out the top. Your goal is to stand on the wood around the beacon.
The beacon will stay in place for 2 minutes, before randomly switching to another (or 25% chance of staying at the same) tower. Every 15 seconds, the player standing closest to the beacon while on the wood will receive a diamond. Diamonds count as points. The game uses the 1.4 gamerule that players keep their inventories on death, so you can't lose those diamonds.
There are towers that let you climb up to bridges to jump down on top of the beacon, and there are sniper points to try to knock off the people standing at the beacons. It's not always beneficial to run straight towards the tower and climb up the side.
The game lasts for 10 rounds (20 minutes), at which point all players are transported to a room where you can put your diamonds in a chest to count your team's score.
Here's a video of a shortened game play with 6 players. Please note this was shot in the private beta stage, and some changes have been made since then to the map.
I'm interested in shooting a follow-up video with the current version. If you're interested in playing a 10-player 20-minute game, please write below your Minecraft username, your Skype alias, and your age. I'll talk to some random people to pick a time to play and record.
1.3 - better armor, clearer messages
*added infinite durability leather armor, dyed to your team's color
*used MCEdit to change the messages from the command blocks to be more clear (colour, bold text)
*set the time to be changed back to night often
1.2 - minor fixes
*fixed an access hole to the redstone underneath
*fixed TNT strike points over sniper towers
1.1 - redstone changes
*ensured that only a single pulse could be generated when users started the game
*added notifications of each team being ready
1.0 - Improved from beta!
*wider towers so users can't defend the edge AND collect diamonds
*made entrances to sniper towers and bridge accesses clearer
*added TNT with wooden buttons to easily attack people in sniper towers
Hey folks! I had 14 downloads of 1.0 and none yet of 1.1. I made some improvements in 1.1, but would love to continue to make improvements. Please let me know how I can make the map better! I know this can be a lot of fun.
You make me sad, Minecraft Forums. So sad. I'd really appreciate a tad of feedback on this if you don't mind. I'd really like to continue to build out the map.
Awesome map! Just played it with only 4 people (including you Mr Maker) and I really enjoyed it! It plays differently than other PvP maps and makes for a really cool and unique battle! Can't wait to play it with more players.

Cool! Going to give this a try in the next few days (we will either record or stream it, or possibly both).
