I have always loved the Harvest Moon games and I really loved the concept behind this map! But after my experiences tonight, I felt like I should share a few notes/feedback with you.
The main suggested texture pack, SMP Revival, seems to be having website issues or something right now, making it impossible to download. Not your fault/issue obviously, but just wanted to give you a head's up.
I decided to use the default texture for right now just so I could have a go at this map.
I play on a Mac, and the download is a .rar instead of .zip. Not sure if you know, but Macs can't open .rar by default. However, Google was my friend and I found a free app that would convert/open .rar into .zip for me on my Mac, score. It took about 30 minutes to get it all setup and figured out though, so less score.
Got the file open, and finally figured out how to get it installed based on the installation instructions from another thread. Just a small feedback note there, you might want to include your own installation instructions to make sure people are doing it the way you intended.
I also followed your suggestion to add the Minecraft Comes Alive mod, since marriage was one of the key parts of the Harvest Moon games (and it honestly just sounded nifty). Now I don't know if it's something you changed recently or that MCA mod changed recently, but none of the vendors in town worked for me. I could talk/joke/etc with them, but there were no vending options. Even the "special" tab did nothing. My assumption is MCA mod overrode the roles you set for them (different kinds of vendors) with its own roles (smith/librarian/etc), but I still thought you'd want to know.
I've spent the last two hours trying to setup and play this map, for less than 20 mins worth of playing, only to realize I can't really progress when there are no vendors. :-/ I realized I could remove MCA mod and just try a fresh copy of your map, but then I didn't feel like going through the whole conversion and installation thing right now.
Sorry, this all sounds awful, and I really don't mean it to. ^ _ ^;; What I saw of the map I loved, which made me even more sad because I really wanted to play it and keep playing. I'm stopping for now just for various conflicting frustrations, which are not your fault. I just wanted to give you feedback because I know feedback can be hard to get. I am very much so looking forward to trying this map again in the future, hopefully sooner rather than later. Thank you for all your hard work!
Edited to add: I knew I forgot something XD I had to chop down fence to access my main yard in order to start farming - not something I had been hoping to do. I looked all over for gates but couldn't find any. Is that intended to have the big field shut away like that?
Also a question regarding a possible secret, so spoiler:
I went up the mountain pass and saw a dead shrub in a flower pot. I dug under it and saw redstone wire so I replaced the dirt and tried interacting with/breaking the pot, but nothing happened. I dug up the ground again and saw the redstone wires went nowhere. Was this supposed to trigger something? Sorry if I ruined a secret :X
Yo!
This map seems really cool, I'm really excited to play it! But I'm assuming MCA, while cool, breaks the way the map is supposed to work? I installed MCA to run the map quickly as a test and it brings a lot of life to the world, but there doesn't seem to be a way to trade with just anyone, and I suspect the mod just replaces any of the testificates you customised, even if I could trade with them?
You know I haven't actually tested it out myself. Yeah all the placed Villiagers should have set trades. Man I hate to hear that. I was actually going to download that mod to give this map a shot myself now that I've finally gotten to a point where i think most everything is fixed.
Given what you've told me I have to assume your conclusion is correct, but I'm going to give it a looksee myself.
@FarmerMey: Yes I just saw the post above yours. No I'm sorry to say I was unaway that Macs could not support RAR (WinRar I suppose is for Win only) I'll see about geting a zip up for you. I had no idea. I'm sorry for your troubles. I'll also make a note on the Suggested Mods to this effect. Hopefully if I don't have this fixed tonight I'll have you a zip up by tomorrow. Secondly it did not occur to me that there might be people who did't know how to install maps, but you make a very good point. I'll even look up the mac instructions and include those as well. Thank you for your feedback!

Sorry about that, I actually hadn't seen the post before mine before I posted ^ _ ^;; probably because I had this thread open still from getting the map, lol. Thank you for looking into these issues. ^ _ ^ I've been playing minecraft for a few months now but I'm only just now starting to try out different mods, downloading maps, etc., so I'm a map newbie XD I just figured I'd mention it because the easier it is for people to get your map, the more who will play it! ^ _ ^ Thanks again for your time and for listening. It's greatly appreciated!

Okay .zip file up, Installation notes added to the page. Later they will be found with the download itself. And its no problem about the repeat post. Thank you for taking the time to look at the map! Please feel free to let me know if you have any further issues I can help correct.
Also let me know if the Mac instructions are incorrect if you would kindly?
I have a mac, and the instructions are correct .also, farmer, if you use stuffit expander, you can open RAR files incase you play another map and can't get the map maker to post a zip.
as for the map, it fun but there is a major balancing issue.if you kill a spider, craft a fishing rod, get 3 emeralds, you can trade it for a
INSANE amount of emeralds.it is also a easy way to the hawken quest, so even more emeralds, plus a mooshroom.other than that this really fun.
Update v1.4.5 (minor update) - The Fisheman trades were backwards, he was buying what buying what he was supposed to be selling and vice versa - Changed the hawkers cage to a stall

They worked perfectly for me, and thank you so very much for adding .zip files. ^ _ ^ It's really awesome that you listen to feedback so much!
CoolGuy, thank you for the tip! I had actually found an app called UnRarX that also worked, but it was a bit convoluted, so I just wanted to let Mewkeere know. ^ _ ^
Also, just re-stating an edit I added to my first post (I think while poor Mewkeere was busy replying to me XD) that may have gotten overlooked:
Edited to add: I knew I forgot something XD I had to chop down fence to access my main yard in order to start farming - not something I had been hoping to do. I looked all over for gates but couldn't find any. Is that intended to have the big field shut away like that?

Hmm, just occured to me that the spoiler text might actually be related to a quest I hadn't gotten yet.... In any case, I'm looking forward to trying this again. ^ _ ^ I'm sure there's probably some code or setting to make MCA work with it again too, I'm just not that good at that sort of thing. ^ _ ^;;;

Yes this is meant to be the case, you are however allowed to chopthem down. The only fences I ask that you -not- chop down are the oens with logs beneath them (around your shipping bow) the fences there you can place whereerver you want after you chop them down. Inside you farm land you are allowed to do whatever you like. tunnel down to the bedrock, build luxurious multi-tier houses, Farms etc. For revample like in Harvest Moon after some time you get the carpenters to build you a bigger better house. I can't really do that for you, but you can buy materials and expand the house however you like
The sky is the limit (literally, I think its 256 blocks right? lol) As it states in the suggested rules. Just please dont destroy the fence with logs under them and preferably not your 2 bars, tool shed and the silo (though it looks liek the tool shed might be up fro a few modifications...if you know what I'm sayin'

I didn't see this before, so forgive my ignoring it. Yeah it's there for a reason. You'll learn why if you play the map
I thought that might be the case with the fences, but I just wanted to make sure I wasn't crazy. Like I mentioned, I'm still really new to any maps that aren't my randomly-spawned ones in single player and was worried about "messing up" the map, so thank you for having patience with me and my silly questions. ^ _ ^ And thank you for being so awesome and responsive!
I look forward to playing this more and finding all the secrets! hehe

Hey, currently playing through the map. It's great!
I may be missing them or something, but can we grow coca beans in the future? I wanna make my own cookies instead of buying them from the crazy guy under my shed...
If you need help with the building of the map, i can be glad to help.
Ive been playing this for a bit and I'm a tad confused. What is concidered "Your farm" can you make a video or point out in screen shots what exactly your farm is. I figured the area around the starting village is the farm but I can't seem to find a way to get there without breaking the rule of not going over fences.
I mean the tunnel that starts below the tool shed and goes to the big tree at the very bottom of the farm field. I think it gets hit by lightning.
Everything else sounds wonderful!

That's a good idea. Perhaps enchanted books so you can enchant whichever tools you like. I'll save that for the next big update.
Thank you.

I'll add them in the next big update. However growing them yourself? You'll have to acquire the proper resources.
Thank you for the input.
I've made these changes in the Developer's Copy of the map. As for the priest he can sell 9 enchantments, which one's would you all be interested in?
