Thanks everyone who submitted entries, I have over 80 to evaluate and judge now. Not sure how long it will take!

The goal: Build an Adventure map with a tonne of submissions from different authors. With some prizes and stuff as incentive to participate :smile.gif:
Of course the end product will be posted here for all to see and play.
Watch the FAQ video and read the FAQ here before asking any questions.
Full Competition Details and FAQ
The competition is this: Create an adventure map encounter. It can be an encounter of any kind that keeps the player occupied for at least a minute... so a "pretty" build is not enough. Maybe a Rollercoaster, parkour challenge, puzzle, hidden item, contraption, monster fight, maze etc. The encounter must fit a 20 by 20 by 20 cube. It MUST include redstone in some sort of working fashion (within the 20x20x20 area... everything within the 20x20x20). For example, piston doors, puzzle mechanics, powered rails etc. It can't just be for decoration.
It must be playable on Minecraft 1.1 only. No snapshots or betas.
You may have a custom set of "rules" for your encounter, however regular adventure map rules should apply: eg no breaking or placing blocks unless for a specific purpose. You may also have mini story elements in your encounter.
You enter by sending me a download link to a schematic or world through youtube message or video response to this video. If email is your only mode of file transportation, I can organise an email address for you to send it to. Let me know.
All entries will go into a draw for a Minecon 2011 Avatar Cape code for xbox360
There will be 1 winner who will receive: Minecon Avatar Cape for xbox AND a Minecraft Gift Code (to do what with... I'm not sure) AND their name will be first on the list of contributors. They will be selected by me based on the following criteria: Complexity, Design, Difficulty (note: harder does not mean better) and Redstone Proficiency.
If I get more than 5 entries, I will stitch together all of the encounters somehow into it's own "Jigarbovs Channel" adventure map. Of course I may modify or tweak the challenge to make it fit, but the idea will be left alone for the most part. (already got 5)
Any and all submissions become my property to do with as I wish (including for profit(!)). That said, I always try to credit people for their work and will do so as long as I remember, even with these. I just can't promise that there will be a day where I forget who made what and I don't credit them. In that case you're not allowed to get mad.
You have 2 weeks to finish this, on Monday February 6th I will no longer be accepting any new entries.
FAQ
Q: Are the rules negotiable?
A: No.
Q: What bout if I don't care about the prizes, can I do an entry that breaks the rules a little?
A: The deadline for those who want their submission in but don't make it in time. Because it will likely take me a while to assemble the whole thing. However you obviously lose your chance to win any of the prizes. But the rest of the rules need to be followed aside from that.
Q: I've never played an adventure map. What kind of adventure maps do you like?
A: My adventure map Eronev Mansion Adventure would be a good guide that has a lot of defined "encounters" Check it out:
Q: Does the redstone have to fit the 20x20x20 area?
A: Yes, everything must fit the designated area.
Q: So... player accessible area is 20x20x20?
A: um.. no. Everything.
Q: Does it have to fit inside a 20x20x20 cube making the usable area slightly less?
A: No, you may use the full 20x20x20 area, including the 20th block.
Q: What if like, one redstone dust is on the outside of the 20x20x20?
A: Then you're disqualified. If I find any disqualified entries I will let you know and you will have a day or two to fix it. There will be no exceptions.
Q: Can it use the snapshot?
A: It must work in Minecraft 1.1 No later, no earlier.
Q: Can I use a texture pack or mod?
A: No. It must work on Minecraft 1.1 client freshly installed with no mods or texture pack.
Q: But I NEED worldedit and voxelsniper to build things!
A: That's fine. Using mods to build is OK, just no mods to play the final product.
Q: What about MCedit?
A: Did you even read the previous question?
Q: ok ok... I have made some challenges before, can I just submit those?
A: I'd rather not, but it isn't like I could tell you built it a long time ago anyway. But it must conform to these rules.
Q: How many encounters can I submit?
A: Just one.
Q: Minecon Cape??!! For Minecraft???!!
A: No, it's the one for your xbox 360 avatar, not the pc. Sorry you had to go to Minecon to get it in Minecraft.
Q: Can I submit a solid stone cube and have the rules be "You can break stone" and a iron door with a pressure plate to open it?
A: No. I reserve the right to refuse any entry if I see it as an attempt to enter without putting in any real effort.
Q: What? You can refuse entries now? What other reasons?
A: Any really, it's my competition. However I am aware people have different skill levels and I don't want to exclude those who try really hard, even if they aren't as "good" as some others. I will only refuse those I believe to have tried to cheat their way in.
Q: Is a refusal debatable?
A: No.
Q: That's not fair!
A: That isn't a question.
Q: Sorry, I just don't want to lose my chance to enter even though I'm not very good.
A: If you try your best then you have nothing to worry about.
Q: Do you think anyone will read all the way through these FAQ's?
A: Probably a few loyal fans who enjoy my bad jokes.
Q: Okay. Good luck!
A: ... I can't enter my own competition. Good luck to you.
Q: Thanks.

Q: Hey I said bye!
A: Why are you still talking?

If you like the idea and want to participate, feel free to post here and let me know. I will also be accepting submissions through this thread. Be warned, other people might see your submission though and then try to make one better than it!
EDIT: The 20x20x20 limit. Is that including the walls/ceiling/floor?
It always amuses me that, that's the first question always asked. I guess I needed to be way more specific in the first video.
I digress. The answer is yes. If your build has walls that is. You can build right to the edge of your 20x20x20 area. It wont actually be placed inside a 20x20x20 cube, else you'd only have 18x18x18 to work with... which is even more restrictive.

Hey Thanks a lot for the thread Jig. I was thinking of making a progress-report kinda thing & was wondering whether I should put that in my almost-defunct-blogspot or something.
But I guess I'll just post it here & also see what other people comes up with :biggrin.gif:
Today's the 24th night here & so far, I have roughly a quarter of the entry done (I think, maybe a fifth).
So far, I've got some Parkour but no puzzles yet & redstone usage is pretty low for now although I have used an idea from my Redectricity series :smile.gif:
I'm also planning an emphasis on mob fighting, so expect that in the final entry.
In which case, I strongly suggest using either the Careful Creepers mod (preferred since Creepers still pose a threat even then, just only to you) or the 'creeper explosion disable' command on Single player Commands (makes Creepers unable to explode, so they just try to hug you instead).
Because otherwise, Creepers may break some delicate redstone wiring since the map is quite limited on space :sad.gif:
But if you really don't want to use mods, then just make sure they don't explode. Kill them quick or snipe them from afar.
That's it for now. I'll make another progress report once I've done some more...um...progress.
In the meantime, I'd like to know how the other contestants are doing :smile.gif:

I threw together a quick challenge to test the 20x20x20 space in about an hour. You can fit quite a bit in that space! Creeper explosions could be a big problem though. I will be playing them mod free though so make sure you don't have any creeper spawners to reduce the chance of one appearing :tongue.gif:

I know. It may seem small, but now that I'm thinking how the mob fight area's going to be, I'm getting kinda confused as to how I should use so much space :ohmy.gif:
Actually watching some videos to get some ideas on that.
Don't worry. I'm not crazy enough to place Creeper spawners (or any mob that can damage the environment). Everything else is, however, fair game :wink.gif:
Today was a National Holiday. So obviously I spent my entire day staring at a computer screen & left clicking & right clicking successively & obsessively.
SO EXCITING !!!! exclamation marks !!!!
[& my folks wonder why I don't have a girlfriend, or any social life for that matter :'( ]
Anyways, back on topic, I added quite a bit of redstone stuff. I think Jig's going to like this one :smile.gif:
I'm right now at the last & final room & as they say "all's well that ends well". So I better make this a really well final room 'cause otherwise it's not going to end that well :sad.gif:
I can't divulge much information, obviously, but I will say that my entry is very straightforward & has pretty much no puzzle at all (I'm more suited to solving them rather than making them, I'm afraid), a little bit of parkour & a large bit of fighting :wink.gif:
Well, back to planning the final room. This is Ani, signing out :biggrin.gif:

My solution is to only use mobs with unusual shapes (*cough* spiders *cough*) make the spawning area not accommodate tall mobs, and light up everywhere except the spawners so creepers cannot spawn at all.
Spent about 8 hours getting a nice puzzle and room together. Had to deeply shift the floor and cieling to compesate for redstone room, and I had to get *really* compact with some of my redstone designs, but I think I've actually finished a first draft. I'm going through adding more to it, to make it a more challenging area, but I'm really pleased with it so far.
And are you sure we can't be friends? :tongue.gif: I read everything...
EDIT: One last thing... Can I enter more then one build?

Sorry, just one build per person for this comp.
Also I'm glad you're here too, I was beginning to worry this post was pointless due to the lack of people here, but even if I only get a couple, then it was worth it!

Thanks - and I expected as much! It was just never mentioned in those videos, so I figured I'd get that question asked!
And no problem - I would normally think this was the place to advertise, so I'll at least try to bump every day or so.
Kinda don't wanna make this post as it's my 43rd one & so it removes my rank "The answer to life, the universe and everything" but ah well...
Anyways, progress so far:
I've completed the final room & added in pretty much all the redstoneworks I hoped to (& can) include. Things did get a bit messy due to the size restrictions but I managed to fit all the circuit in the space I had (Amazing, I know :ohmy.gif: )
So next up is patching up the map to make it look all pretty & stuff, because as they say "when you look good, you feel good & when you feel good, you do good". & I wanna do good :biggrin.gif:
After that I need to work on mob difficulty. Till then, this is Ani, signing out.
[sigh, I'm no longer the answer to life, the universe & everything :sad.gif: ]
What are you talking about? You two are just being silly :tongue.gif:
