My hope was to have VFI done by the 21st of December (1 year anniversary) but, not sure if I can make that date yet. Been having lots of trouble with lighting errors and a bunch of other crap Mojang needs to fix :/
Are phantom skylights still a problem? I'm playing VF1, but I'm not encountering any.

Not so much the phantom skylight (although, Mojang did not fix the issue as well as last_username's Lights Out mod did) but, the real problem is the light errors that occur around chunk boundaries. I can fix bad lighting all day but, relighting chunks does just that, it relights chunks to the edge of the chunk boundary, where more lighting errors are waiting to strike.
my favorite map ever, will the remake for VFI be the same map but with 1.4 features? if so it would be cool to have boss mobs. Just a suggestion. Great map and great Youtube channel
Have not replied here in a while, here's the state of things on old three_two's side of the world: The VF I remake is behind schedule. Just before the holidays the power supply and fan/on/off/reset controller on my PC went kaput. That was Friday night and too late to contact Corsair about replacements (both parts still under warranty.) had to peel out for the family holiday visits next day and due to the holiday, wasn't even able to get parts ordered until today.
Long story short, I was behind on the VF I remake and by the time I get my PC running I will be way behind so, even though the Dec. 21st release date was tentative, now the release date is just unknown all together.
The remake will have a completely different feel, may not appeal to fans of the hard survival/rom-hack CTM style of the original. I want to lean towards fast paced arcade style action so there will be lots of goodies and fun stuff to play with but, expect onslaughts of enemy resistance similar to a bullet hell shooter at times. Most of the changes will indeed bring the map up to date with all the new stuff in MC. Teleports, custom spawners, potions etc. one of the best things about the recent patches is the new record "wait." I'll be creating an entirely new area for this record! Another thing I want to add is some lore to each area similar to VFII and, in an abstract way, kind of tie in the first map to the second and ultimately connect it to the third.
So that's about it. I'm out of town until after the new year and hopefully when I get home, my PC parts will have arrived and I can get back to work shortly. See ya next year!
I expect the areas to be sort of fast-paced remixes of the original areas, hopefully with more linear dungeon aspects to it combined with a world of its own every direction you go.
So, I have been trying to speedrun these maps for a while now...
It technically isn't really a speedrun, but I have completed VFII in the short time of 2:46:13,355 (2 hours, 46 minutes, and 13 seconds) in MC 1.2.5. I could have done faster, but I would have died with the amount of risks I would have taken. I have come to appreciate the power of gold armor, though. Also, 'Enemy Mine' was a biatch to speedrun... =.=
It's frustrating to swim in lava with fire resist to get to the record when you're trying to speedrun. Just sayin'. However, I do like me the Efficiency X Diamond Pick... :3
EDIT: I really know that this isn't the time for a speedrun post, but I just wanted to get it out there. Also, Happy New Year 2013 really shortly!
Three_Two-
Why do a remake of an already PERFECT map?! The things you make are more than some could even think to do in a life time... If I were you I would focus on a third map, not a remake
Hey, how goes it? Oh and concerning the remake of VF I, the map has high replayability, and what do ya know, with all the things that have come out lately, it might be a major difference! (Not to mention the new record that was implemented!)
Hi! and actually I forgot about the new record so maybe it is. Good reason
Three_two, feedback on the VFI remake has been sizeably dull for a while. How are things going on in your realm, and when can the remake be expected? No pressure here, just keen to hear an update.
Nah i stopped long time ago, derped up when recording and I couldn't find a good way to take it up again. (Also, I didn't like the map. I loved VF1 though, I hope 3 will be more similar to 1)
Hey three_two, I've just completed Vinyl Fantasy II and enjoyed every minute of it. Fantastic job. I'll be uploading an imgur album and a review/ story shortly. I'm also working on Vinyl Fantasy I right now, and it's tough. Nice job though.
Now, I have a bit of a request/ question. You probably get asked this a lot, but would you consider doing some kind of mapmaking/building tutorial? You don't have to make a video, but even a forum post full of tips would be extremely useful. Your areas are some of the most beautiful I've ever seen and I feel like, as a mapmaker, I could benefit a whole lot from some tips and tricks.
I realize I've been showering you with compliments and probably sound like a stupid fanboy, so please try to take my suggestion seriously despite that.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
There ain't much left of the world these days. The gods have forsaken us, there's no denying that. But still you press on. For what? A chance to sift through the ashes one last time? The hope to one day be called a hero? Whatever your reason, you've got a lot of work to do. The corruption won't leave without a fight, so you better get started.

updates map on date world ends
don't even care

Someone needs to LP this new version.

I honestly want to just go creative, bomb every dungeon, and teleport us to the end... just so we are finished.
We kept getting ourselves blown up by creepers, shot by skeletons (etc etc) on the STARTING ISLAND. I love this map!
I cannot wait for the 1.4.6 remake!

Please include what version of Minecraft it is meant for on the About section for all three of the Vinyl Fantasy's.

They're current. You shouldn't really expect anything else, anyway.
