Nothing but water. No bedrock, nothing. The occasional planetoid held afloat by coral can be seen, but otherwise a wasteland for the squid. How do you survive?
features so far:
-starter area with what you need to survive/thrive.
-Fast paced and fluid exploration.
-Monsters Galore! The more you light up, the more there are!*
-Zelda-worthy Boss areas. make Link proud!
-non-linear exploration options, but recommended pathways. There are requirements for some areas, but they enforce themselves... you'll see...
*= so little spawning space means they try extra hard
You are the answer to a distress signal sent by the researchers who went there to try answering the above question. It seems that something has been destroying their bases, one by one, and they need a... specialist... to find out what, and deal with it.
There seems however to be a problem. The transmission was a fake, you arrive at some desolate remains of a biosphere, all your possessions lost… and the scientists you do find are deaf and dumb… their sanity long gone.
It seems that this is no longer just another mission. You are in danger, lost in a pristine and inhospitable “land”, with no way out in sight. You do, however, wager that whoever has the capabilities to send a trans-dimensional message, and make it realistic enough, must have a way out of their own too.
You have three options. To your left you see a cluster of biospheres, clear signs of the once proud scientist collective. To your right you see a forbidding outcrop of stone sustained afloat by coral. In front of you is a tree.
Which do you punch first?
Besides... It will not stay so peaceful and pristine for long...
This is not a survival challenge. You have the option to use any resource in sight, and there is much for those willing to find it all. This is not a escape map. You are welcome to follow the default story line and escape indeed, but this map is ultimately about choices. THIS is an adventure map. You are actually able to keep on moving, replenishing your food and weapon supplies at the bases you find along the way. You can construct a base of your own that fits the map's theme, there is sponge and stone aplenty. You can do anything you want... in Aqua-Space.
if you beat a Boss room, post a screenshot of the interior and get early adopter credit!

the general intention of the game will be to descend downwards towards the main Observatory Station where you hope to find a way out of that horribly wet dimension (try not to get sick of constant droplets)
you will find the story of the missing scientists and the "others" written out in depressing scenic areas. (spoiler below)
note for 1.8 players: endermen can really screw up your caves.
as for how it is going... slowly. it is hard work making individual biospheres and caverns, even with the obvious mcedit, then trying to actually make them look more realistic. if you feel like contributing, and having your name somewhere, send me a schematic file (dry, I'll add water) and I'll see where i can put it.

If any texture pack designers read this, i could use a related pack for this challenge... think "Atlantis" meets "alien vs predator" (16x16 or 32x32)
if any modders read this, i could also use a 1.8.1 mod disallowing the endermen moving of stone...
hmm bukkit... i always assumed it was multi only. lets check it out!
and yes, i tried to think up something sort of original. my first challenge was just some tower, thread already got deleted xD this i hope has the potential to stay afloat in the community, even if i dont do it myself
Pre3 added!
1.9 items removed, officially playable by all 1.8+, mods or no mods! Officially beatable! You CAN escape!
The Adventure map Aqua-Space is officially no longer in Alpha! Being completable, fast paced, and with numerous achievements, I declare this map actually playable!
to prove it can actually be done, here is a small segment of my play-through:
gotta be careful when clearing dark biospheres... creepers be creeping!
I actually found 4 of the 6 available diamond ores there. Dont worry, there is plenty of diamond elsewhere to be found... for the adventurous.
freaking endermen... 1.8 users beware, they can really mess up your biospheres, flood it all. I suggest you move as quickly as possible if in 1.8 to give them the least amount of time to grief, or find yourself a endermen-nerfing mod. still, provides a challenge xD
my complementary guide on how to actually get into an exploratory spirit. this is why i include specifically 6 diamond ore early on: pickaxe, sword, and enchanter! (1.9+)
note: i am pretty good at hunting down monsters and avoiding them when need be. I only died when trying to take down the spider boss area... managed to take out one of the four spider spawners before dying. Nerfed it somewhat, but still made it hard. It was a GOOD difficulty level.
as for how to win... notice the shape of the entrances to the spider boss area...
note: while technically finishable, the challenge is far from over. there are still plenty of dead ends to connect to new biospheres, new challenges... i still have to hide 4 more fire blocks to add before you can craft the ultimate achievement: chainmail armor.
um u didnt say anything about my problem :sad.gif: i tried to play megaupload pre1 and pre2 but it opened as Word file :'( so... help? idk if u can do anything... i have windows 7, and beta 1.8.1
