Just finished the map, and I have a few things to say. First, MASSIVE HEADACHE!!! Those hints helped a lot more then I thought they would. The texture pack was amazing. The credits (insert spoiler for those who haven't seen the credits). I checked around the back and saw the redstone mess... You guys are crazy. I can't figure out anything back there. The ending made me rage, then I realized this is just part one... Overall, amazing map.
One little fix- the TnT explosion that should kill you, you can survive that. Might want to add a bit more TNT.
My minecraft keeps freezing every time I move more than a block. I've used mcedit to move me out of the spawn and I still can't move without it freezing. I didn't see it in the bugs so hopefully someone knows what is happening.
Minecraft Version: 1.8.1
I used the installer.
No other mods other than the ones installed with the installer.
Downloaded a brand new .minecraft folder before installing.
So after I activate the Battle Beard Ship thing and get the power bulb, where do i go? Ive been wandering around for about 10 minutes. Am i missing something really obvious?

Review Summary:
The HIGHLY anticipated adventure map from Captain Sparklez and The Voxel Box. Map includes custom texture pack and mods that utilize custom audio.
Despite the frustration in my playthrough highlights, I deeply enjoyed the transformation of Minecraft into a scifi setting. This is what the custom map community needed to get public recognition - if you enjoyed it, I hope you check out other custom maps.
I played...
Minecraft Ver: 1.8.1
Mode: Single player
Difficulty: Peaceful
Texture Pack: Deep Space custom
Mods Used: DSTC custom
Expand the spoiler-tag for my video highlights and explanation of my individual ratings
Creativity: 4
Theme transforms Minecraft
Great builds; Space station, Bee Bot, Crane
Ending Credits are amazing
Clever redstone puzzles
Overrides in-game maps with text and images on a space-age "Voxel Reader", when held they play custom audio dialogue
Location-triggered custom music
Can be played with or without the custom mods, but mods are highly encouraged
Credit for their custom installer
Detail: 4
Deep Space texture pack helps transform Minecraft into alien worlds and scifi stations
Detail is consistent and believeable, but several areas with too many colors/textures in close proximity break the flow of some scenery and in a few spots, distract from where player is intended to look at puzzles
Great use of transparent blocks
Story: 2
Mostly linear, but encourages exploration
Plenty of humor in the style of Hitchhiker's Guide or Zac McKraken
Easter eggs galore
Voice acting was good
Hard to get invested in the character and main quest. Main 'escape' sequence is left to random exploration
Tip: PAY ATTENTION to signs
Special effect explosions are attributed to Primary villain, but I didn't feel like he was an imminent threat
Storyline forces you to kill yourself. Which is not a bad thing, but it's startline and takes you out of character for a moment. Needs VERY VERY clear instructions on respawn to explain that it was intended
Side note: I haven't see any explanation of the title or discussion among the community
Difficulty: 3
Played on Peaceful, no mobs
Recommend adding in-game rules before starting the adventure
Plenty of jumping/running puzzles
Clever redstone puzzles with 'iterative' challenges
Plenty of food
Progression: 3
Overall pacing; linear but good balance of up and down time, except...
(mostly fixed) Lack of direction. Some of the location naming isn't obvious
Lack of itemization; no gear, armor, score... something to keep player engaged with a feeling of continual progress
All signs are clearly in-character, narration is well paced
Non-existent Bonus point for unflinching customer support via minecraftforum.net by The Voxel Box team.
Creativity: Unique theme. Utilizes Minecraft functions. Use of rules. Clever creations

I am really sad, the installer does not work on my mac osx 10.5.8. and if i try to manually install the mods i can play for about 5 seconds and then my game freezes.
Hi there, I downloaded the server version, and when I clicked on the file that said 'ClickThisToRunDSTCServer', this message popped up in the command prompt (or whatever it is):
D:\Applications\Minecraft Server\DeepSpaceTurtleChast>java - Xms1024M -Xmx1580M -jar craftbukkit-0.0.1-SNAPSHOT.jar nogui
'java' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.
D:\Applications\Minecraft Server\DeepSpaceTurtleChast>pause
Press any key to continue . . .

Theevilpplz is so fabulous, hetrosexual men turn bi when he passes by.
Well, I'd love to play this map, except for the fact that every time I try to walk out the door, or for that matter move, the game decides to freeze up and I have to stop Java altogether.
Edit: Also, I'm using version 1.2, automatic install.

Are you sure that 4 is enough for creativity/detail? Just sayin'.
4 = astounding
Creativity gets full marks, but if you've played as many maps and seen as many amazing creations as I have... the bar is pretty high. This has more in it than my custom maps, but it also has a TEAM of experts working on it for a long time. I like it. And I don't want to deflate everyone's excitement about it. I like it.
I am really really hoping that this will be the vehicle that gets custom maps more notice from Mojang. The image-to-map and audio is exactly what we map makers need (without mods).
If you listen to my review, I almost knocked the detail down to a 3. But that's personal preference, and there was enough consistent detail (computer labs, etc...) that I left it at 4. I REALLY HOPE that the Voxel Box guys take the texture pack and improve it for Part 2. I've seen this same texture pack in other people's maps, so it wasn't really groundbreaking in my mind.
I'm very confident in my review scale at this point, but I am totally open to discussing if someone thinks I missed in my judgement. I've changed other map scores after replay. My main goal in reviewing maps is to help the map makers improve for next time.
Delete your .minecraft folder, reinstall minecraft, load up a new map and walk around a bit loading all the sounds, then reinstall the adventure map pack and enjoy.
I doubt this will get read (in the middle of the thread) but I've completely uninstalled Minecraft and then played this map WITHOUT the Voxel Box mods. Works fine.
Then I manually added the mods. Works fine.
I -did- have some strange glitch (my avatar being sideways) the very first time I installed this, but after closing Minecraft and playing the next day, the glitch magically went away.
If you want to help the Voxel Box troubleshoot, you might try making changes one at a time to rule out some variables, for example;
- Check your render distance. Put it on 'short' or 'tiny' and see if it still crashes. It may be an odd Mojang memory issue.
- Try the game without the texture pack
- Check your difficulty setting
- Lower other graphics settings on your client
- Are you running vanilla minecraft singleplayer on a PC or Mac? Are you running on a server?
etc...
One little fix- the TnT explosion that should kill you, you can survive that. Might want to add a bit more TNT.
And yes, I did flush myself down a toilet.
EDIT: nvm found a hint box a while after i posted

I can also offer some tips on every area...
