is there any way to still get skyblock? not of the downloads work
I have the original 1.1 and 2.1, but I don't know what the rules are for rehosting, especially since it looks like noobcrew is gone...
I'm more than happy to rehost (and maybe start a new thread since the original OP's so out of date and full of dead links), but I don't want to get in trouble or anything.

There are plenty of other alternative maps based upon SkyBlock that you shouldn't need to start a new thread. If Noobcrew doesn't want to fix this, you shouldn't go out of your way to rehost the content and certainly shouldn't start a new thread. The map is protected by copyright, so rehosting is technically a copyright violation that could get you in legal trouble, if not against the rules of the forum as well and get that thread killed if somebody objected. I suppose it is your risk to take if you want to put yourself out there and do a copyright violation.
You could try to PM Noobcrew and ask him if you could take over the hosting duties. Good luck with that! I mean that too, as this is a popular map. I know the hosting services being used has been flaky, so it is possible that those having difficulty trying to download this map merely need to wait a couple of days and try again. The issue is mainly one of bandwidth usage, as a great many people do indeed download this map.

All creative works are automatically copyrighted, at least in the US and most 1st world countries.
Most people posting on the MC Forums are usually clueless about copyright law, thinking if you make no money off of something that it is perfectly legal to copy something or some other similar kind of nonsense.
Noobcrew put considerable effort into the SkyBlock map, thus it is definitely a "creative work".
An island of Nether Brick in the nether (bottomed with bedrock), housing a blaze spawner and a chest with two villager eggs
An ender portal island ways away from the main overworld island
The End island made of endstone 16x16x16 with four bedrock blocks 10 blocks away housing 4 endercrystals.
There is an enderdragon.
New Challenges:
Get 10 Blaze Rods
Get 10 Eye of Enders
Get to the End
Get 8 villagers (from repopulation)
Make an Iron Golem farm (16 Villagers and 21 Houses (doors))
Get 10 iron
Kill the enderdragon
You can't get the egg without pistons, and no redstone is available.
All I want to do is put these maps that people can't get anymore up so they can get them. I'm not going to adfly them or claim credit or anything.
That still doesn't matter. You are redistributing these maps without permission. Get that permission and you can do whatever you want (as long as Noobcrew says it is OK). That is the nature of copyright. If you think stuff like that stinks, take it up with the elected representatives in the legislative body in your country, or if they aren't elected try to petition them nicely to get the law changed. It doesn't matter if you make money off of these maps or not, you simply can't redistribute these maps or for that matter anything else without permission. If there are people who are having problems downloading these files, it is Noobcrew who needs to deal with the issues.
Does that stink? Yes. Live with it. Life stinks sometimes and sadly you need to deal with reality and what the law says you can and can't do. This isn't even a forum policy issue, but a matter of copyright law, so perhaps it is nice you learn about that law for something simple like a Minecraft map.
maps are not copyrighted, minecraft is copyrighted and the maps were created in minecraft, you cannot copyright alredy copyrighted material
That is simply not true.
"Books are not copyrighted. Microsoft Word is copyrighted and the books were created in Microsoft Word. You cannot copyright already copyrighted material."
the maps are part of the game, music is not part of the tools used.
The maps are not "part of the game" any more than the notes are "part of the music program." It's not like the creator of this map clicked a "skyblock" button and it was created. He placed every block on the map (and removed a lot of blocks, too) specifically where he put them on purpose to create this unique work.
I WOULD download the map because it looks AWESOME, but I don't know how to download custom maps for 1.2, it's too complicated for me...I've never been able to actually download any custom maps

Maps are copyrighted? That makes no sense to me.

That would be like saying music is not copyrighted and the tools used to make it are.
Like art is not copyrighted and the tools to make it are.
Maps are creations by users in Minecraft. Copyright is in effect.
That is simply not true.

Don't advertise your crap in someone else's thread. If it's good people will find it anyway.
