Presenting the new MAP CORP Building. Home to the Minehatten Atomic Power Corporation!
I wasn't happy with the old building, and how it looked like a rocket parked on top of an Indian palace. So i tore it down and started again.
heres the old building:
And the new! (this is just the skeleton, i am yet to add floors and furnishings.)
It was originally a fully glass cylinder but i didn't like it, and after looking at geniooze's building nearby, i decided just to have the front glass. which i think looks much better.
And the lobby (it's not completed yet):
That isn't the Macdonald's logo, it's map corp's improvised logo until i decide on something.
We already have 6 flags...
But Poonflip's second one needs to be resized to 16x10 blocks or less so here it is (16x9 version):
I'll wait a couple more hours to make the poll.
------------------------------------------
I hope I have the chance to get the save soon to expand the city... we already need more area to build.
EDIT: I was also thinking if we could have some kind of oriental neighbourhood ("chinatown") where people could build such style oriented buildings.
The chinatown thing is a good idea. BTW, I just thought up a REALLY good minecart
design, so whenever I get this, I'll add it. It'll probably take up my whole turn though :tongue.gif:
we have a good subway system, but the tram/road tracks are not functional at the moment, so if you could find a way to make it so that we can use them but without having large stop off points, massive buildings full up of pez dispensers and the like. we could have a tram station at one end of the city i think, that goes around the entire city in a loop and ends up back at the tram depot, i think this wouldn't require much work as the rails are already set out o maintain a cart at speed without stopping, but a few alterations the the route it takes may be in order.
Well I have figured out a way to add stations that are about 3*6*3, and allow for turns and stops. I also made up a 2*2*1 station that goes on the track.
= Minecart track
= air
= any solid material
= booster track.
in one of the air spaces is a button. You press the button to leave/go.

We already have a subway design that works perfectly. So don't mess with it in the save, please. :sad.gif:
I thank you for your idea but the one that is already made is working according to the needs that we have discussed here in the topic (Dual automated unidirectional rails with previously inserted minecarts)
The central island would become mostly financial/highrise buildings and other things you'd find in a city centre (town hall, hotels, art galleries, etc). There would still be some residential buildings but they would mostly be high-rise and modern. This doesn't have be pure, we could leave Ark's church and original brick building for example but maybe blend into lower buildings towards the eastern end of the island.
The slums and the industrial district would be adjacent and could blend into each other to give a really disordered/rundown feel.
The 'expensive' would be a place for mansions, modernist houses and anything else you might find in e.g. Beverly Hills. We could even preserve some of the hills to differentiate it from the rest of the city.
The commercial/suburban district would be the area for low-rise residential buildings, shopping malls, etc. I'd suggest eventually moving the stadium out there as they're not usually built in the centre of big cities. It would also be the best place for a china town.
The Airport and military base would be located out of the city. This could be a place to use the highway schematics and maybe build some countryside landscape if anyone wants to do that.
Please give me any thoughts you have on this layout.
I agree with most of it!
My two cents:
It's best and easier to move those small buildings (butchery/firestation, etc) to somewhere close to the church, instead of moving everything in the east to the southeast... and by moving the stadium southwards (as you suggested) the Financial center could grow south and east (where is the stadium right now) and engulf the surroundings of the church/city hall/park, etc (they would remain there like the "old part" of the financial center.
The 'expensive' district, could also merge with the residential district, one that has regular houses and streets (but on top flattened area)
And what would be in that area where is now the airport lane?
That is basically what I was suggesting about the financial district, maybe I didn't phrase it very clearly. If we want a general residential district (I as thinking it would be in the suburban/commercial district) we'd need more space so maybe that could be where the runway is now? The airport/military base would then have to be further from the city (no bad thing).
That's what I was thinking. We could have a major 'Suburban' area around the city, which gradually breaks off into smaller towns. (Think of the Hamptons compared to New York)
That's exactly why I was thinking of it.... there may be some members that did not join the project because they wanted to build something oriental and the city has no room for it. I'd change that rule if people agree.

The Minehattan Flag poll has been made.
You can click in multiple options, the one with more votes will win the contest (obviously).
I believe it's not public, so that people vote according to what they think and not what others think...

Now reading again, you were perfectly clear (my fault) :smile.gif:
A residential district where is now the airport lane would be good.
I think this city might rival broville (at least v9) soon! everything is of epic proportions!
I love taking the save and finding new eastereggs and such!
I have every right to use that image as my avatar. I support 11/9, and I laughed at it. Don't like it? Too bad. Last time I checked, I could express my opinion freely on this forum.
Damn you Tman! Your flag is beating mine in votes.
Perhaps it should have an untimely encounter with flint and steel...
*Walks away rubbing hands together and muttering*
I hope I get it next, prob won't though.
Reopend (I don't want it :tongue.gif:)
My second entry for the flag contest. Dimensions are 11X20, btw.
Just awesome

And if that is the city center, we should move the football pitch elsewhere.
Also, why would people have mansions next to slums?

That's against the rules there, buddy. D:
