Oh I'd be happy to. But I still haven't gotten my gfx card fixed since my exam is still going on.
It ends on Monday so I'll try my hardest to get the card fixed next week.
If you don't mind waiting, I can (probably) play with you next Friday
Or you could go ahead & play it with someone else if you really want to
Hey rsmalec. I was thinking of this idea: You know how many new mapmakers sometimes cant think of a trap or a puzzle. Well, it occurred to me that I could set a shop thread with some of my traps and puzzles for them to use in their own maps. But that's not it! anyone can contribute to the thread submitting their own traps and puzzles for other people to use in their maps. What do you think?
Review Summary:
A clever survival experiment that really reinforces block management, observation, and planning. And jumping!
I really like this map as it forced me to THINK and PLAN!

I think that's a great idea. Include schematics and screen shots for each 'mechanism' and maybe short videos if you have a YouTube channel.
Review Summary:
The texture pack is really well done with the exception of the dirt/grass/farmland/stone which is too blurred/smooth. Also too many all-black rooms for my taste.
Sadly, I had to take a point away from progression. The railcarts are ridiculously long between cities. The main story takes you far and then you have to backtrack to a city you passed along the way. There are big cities with no real action to take, other than exploration. That said, the detailing is well done; therre is a LOT of flavor text and are a lot of easter eggs to find.
I wouldn't call this map difficult in terms of fighting or puzzles, but there are a few places I got trapped with no way out unless I cheated and spawned a lever or broke thru a wall/door.
I talked myself into the 3 in creativity due to layout of Linhope but mostly the historical castle, which was out of place in the grand scheme of the map, but the most interesting bit to me.
Review Summary:
Overall clever concept, a nice twist on classic survival. The scoring system also intrigues me because it's exploration based, not token based, and the player can choose when to approach the final battle. Sadly, the final battle is the vanilla Enderdragon.

This map was played on the Map Makers After Hours Podcase Stream with Jigarbov and Nirgalbunny
Review Summary:
The initial village had a few too many path options and we got very lucky in finding Note 2 so quickly. But overall it was well built. I was disappointed at the end, thinking the map was still in progress - however we later remembered that parts 2 and 3 are already available. I would add the link to part 2 on the final set of signs.

The note.txt files were a little dated, but the writing was good. I think this map would definitely benefit from an upgrade to written books.
Review Summary:
Take a classic Minecraft map archetype; being led thru a series of puzzle/tests by an uncertain narrator, but put a twist on the theme.
I enjoyed the way the story was conveyed throughout this map, both through dialogue (signs) and the way encounters were designed to draw your attention to particular sights and actions.
The custom texture pack is well done, and allows for special effects with invisible blocks.
I still think that CTM maps should have their own category.
Just think about it, Blight Castle is vastly different from Skylands.
But then again, you do club Puzzle & Parkour (though the more accurate term is Platforming) maps in the same category so...
Parkour is a term for a GOOD navigation puzzle. One that doesn't LOOK like a puzzle, but a natural environment that you have to traverse. Most maps that call themselves parkour are just jumping puzzles - blocks in a room.
I've been playing CTM lately, and I'm thinking about the categories I use.
I used to think CTM was survival, plus a challenge with a built in scoring system.
But now I see they're actually closer to what I would call 'puzzle' or rather a 'scavenger hunt'. Possibly even 'adventure' when there's enough 'flavor' to have an underlying story.
In CTM, you can use survival methods, but you don't necessarily have to. Everything you need is in chests to be found/crafted, but you're allowed to perform traditional mining/crafting if you desire instead.I'm not going to have an opportunity to thoroughly play these maps any time soon, but I wanted to put them up here and ask you guys to check them out for me, if you're into multiplayer pvp maps...
Both collections are by Thungon217, a map maker I met at MineCon.

Agreed. Platforming is a form of puzzle (in all games), rather a subcategory of puzzle games.
Basically, there are 2 subtypes in Puzzle: Mental Puzzles & Physical Puzzles. You can pretty much guess which is which
You make a solid point regarding the Scavenging aspect in CTM maps. But then just looks at maps like Bedrock Hell or the Zero mercy series which just makes the maps unfairly difficult & makes Super Hostile look easy (Yes they do). Maps that are only attempted by true masochists.
I'd say that CTM do fall under Survival since that is the main aspect of it but also has expanded the definition such that there exist maps which blend the genres & create new types of maps. I really like this evolution of mapmaking over time
Basically, there are 2 subtypes in Puzzle: Mental Puzzles & Physical Puzzles. You can pretty much guess which is which
I actually thought about rating maps on those two categories instead of my current 'difficulty'; The mental challenge and physical challenge.
I'm also thinking about a completely different rating system with three measures;
Head - Mental challenge and emotional response that a map invokes
Heart - Amount of effort and creativity put into the map
Hand - Physical challenge and technical merits of the build

Very interesting & innovative rating scale - The H3 Scale / Triple H Rating of a map - hmm has a nice ring
I would advise against changing because your present scale is quite balanced & objective. Not to mention you'd have to rerate all the maps
I'd say have the Triple H rating or H3 rating as a sort of bonus subjective (& therefore personal) rating scale. Head: (M)ind & (E)motion Heart: amount of (W)ork put in the map & creativity a.k.a. (V)isual appeal Hand: physical (C)hallenge & (T)echnicality
Basically have these ratings be binary -> 1 or 0.
I'll try to explain with an example, Say Rise of the Rebellion which got, what was it, 19 or 20.
Anyways, on the side, you can have the H3 or Triple H rating of the map as M0,E1,W1,V1,C0,T0 - Note you cannot sum these because these basically say how YOU felt about the map on a personal level, as a player, NOT as a reviewer.
A few more examples:
Eronev Mansion Adventure: 20/20 (Triple H or H3 rating: M0, E1, W1, V1, C1, T1)
Deja Vu: Forgot/20 (Triple H or H3 rating: M1, E1, W1, V0, C0, T1)
Spellbound Caves: Forgot/20 (Triple H or H3 rating: M0, E0, W1, V1, C1, T0)
Note: These are my rating & obviously different from yours. You don't even have to add this rating. But this was just a random silly idea I had which I thought was cool.
Anyways, Ani out

Genre: Jumping
Review Summary:
The map maker clearly spent a LOT of time copying or creating many jumping puzzles, lever puzzles, and other puzzles, in what felt
like no particular order. I also felt like the signs were put in after the fact without much enthusiasm or plan. You start with a
small jumping course (the map maker calls it parkour) and are then told that was the end of jumping, so I was looking
forward to some interesting puzzles. After almost 2 hours of more jumping puzzles, we suddenly get a half-baked "adventure" story.
Guess what it is? You've been a test subject, and now for more tests. And now you have to go to hell (the nether) and beat a demon
(?) but the leader of the "rebellion" can't go with you. You beat the demon by opening 4 doors and... doing more jumping!
Actually, you just blow up four piles of diamond and then go through a door between the demon's legs. He's fine. It doesn't matter,
because you can't really see the demon anyway in the darkness. And then it's the end. Was there a temple somewhere? Why did you
go into the temple? I have no idea.
I'll also give the map maker credit for using different shapes and color/textures for each room.
I played...
