Bumping this map because its amazing. Haven't found the treasure yet but still looking and haven't really established a proper house yet due to the fact that my old one burned down........stupid lava fall. I haven't explored that many of the cave systems because I don't really have anywhere to grow trees for sticks. There has been the occasional or that drops down randomly from somewhere near the ceiling of the cave, so they die and I get their [>>-i>] and free bonemeal :biggrin.gif: (I found the light at the top of the cavern so even more free stuff :Skeleton:) . Heres some pics of my progress so far( If the pics don't show up right, right click the paper thing, then go to open picture in new tab ):
Here's the remains of my old house.......and the lava fall on the right.
Here's the general area and spawn point, look at my bridge :biggrin.gif:
Here's my animal cave/trap(more like a natural whirlpool) for food and other natural resources:
Here's the giant lake, I put platforms with torches on it just in case mobs spawn :tongue.gif:
Here's my ghetto house/spawn point:
And finally, here's a pic from the deck outside my ghetto house :tongue.gif:

Assuming my initial spawn isn't completely filled with skeles and spiders, the tree never drops saplings for me. This must be the 8th time I've restarted.
The starting cave is perfect. With two saplings from the tree, four wood, twenty dirt and two units of coal were mountains of resource. I only had to leave the shelter of the cave twice to get pork (built that wall all the way down to do it, lots of cobble, don't waste wood on a sword) and then once to gather sand, on all three trips I laid out copious torches to prevent monster spawns.
After the torches were finished, the tree facility and house were built I just started heading out to block up all the side tunnels from the centre cave, they're almost all sealed up, all the lava covered in cobblestone, soon the entire centre cave will be secure aside from the occasional random creeper.
After some ultra-safe mining I accumulated the lapis required to build an artificial sky within my character's bedroom, if I am damned to this hole for all eternity I might at least dream visions of the sky I will never know.
Zerotwo's unwillingness to explore ANY of the cave system has left him unable to locate the cactus needed to finish the mural.
About 45 minutes earlier from the screenshot above, the cave is much better lit now and the entrance to the water area to the left is secured behind a high wall with a spider-guard at the top.
The tree facility is 9x9 of sapplings and a few torches, until I had sufficient charcoal the area was lit by lava that I spread from the font near the starting cave. The house has a security door and an inner door as well as a french door to the glass observation porch.
Accomplishing the goals is only a matter of time now, the area is fortified, coal, water and food are plentiful. Approximate time: 2 hrs
Haha, this is really fun, albeit difficult (which tends to make it more fun). Great work Ashien, this is just as awesome if not more than Survival Island.
I've had a very fun time with this series, and I will be concluding with Animaltopia. I'd continue, but my save disappeared and I am very sad. Expect more videos!
Use the Wooden pick until exhaustion on stone, build a tall thin room with a single safe entrance. Collect nearby dirt (by hand ONLY) while exhausting the original pick (minimum 1 dirt).
Build a Forge, Place 1 Wood into the fuel section and 1 Tree segment into the reaction box. Produce 1 Charcoal.
Use 1 Stick with 1 Charcoal to produce 4 Torches, Place 1 Torch near your dirt pile, use the other 3 Torches to secure your cave. Use remaining 3 sticks for 1 Stone Pick and 1 Stone Sword.
In about 5-10 minutes you have a safe area that enemies cannot enter with a tree growing in it, you have a stone sword and stone pick, a ton of stone and a couple of torches to secure the area around your growing room. If you are lucky to be playing a map like Survival Underground then there's lots of skeletons and animals around in a large open area (where you can run from them and pick and chose your fights) you can put together some bonemeal and pork quickish.
I'm not having trouble surviving. But it's taking ages to get a second tree to grow, I only got 1 sapling from my tree, and no skeletons are spawning anywhere >.<
With the entire cave area secured up to 30 blocks up and down (all entrances sealed) the cave has been sterilized into perfect flatness and some basic farming systems have been set up.
A view of the lifepod and construction/farming areas. What do I do with all of this flat even ground in a cave???
Disappointed there's no achievement for cake production, at this point I've got like 40~ eggs... but look! A galley kitchen!
Did enough exploring to get cactus and reeds... now what? Hm.
i dont understand how to install it for multiplayer, i dont the single player one fine, someone help me please
I'm not positive on this, as I have never actually done it. But in your server folder I believe there should be a folder titled "world", in which you should place the file the same way you move it to "saves" for single player. I have never uploaded a map to a server though, so I can't be sure. Some with more experience in that area can probably better help, just a matter of time before they reply.
Added a MP version with a spawning area and a drop to the starting area. I've never tried making anything specifically for MP so if anything out of the ordinary crops up, feel free to let me know so I can fix it.
THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH <3 <3 <3
Yogcast did a stream of it to since you added MP support :smile.gif:
I feel honored that I helped contribute to this :biggrin.gif:
oh sorry i was just showing you a small number of the army i was facing. pretty terrifying stuff. love the lake jsut wish it went out longer and i love how the main room spreads out into multiple caves. this is gunna be epic
Awesome map! Been out exploring, just began to find a bunch of nether materials.
Also found some floating lava.... Seriously, It's a couple source blocks just floating in the air. It's right up against the top of the map, by some glowstone and netherrack, and soul sand. Weird.
I just downloaded this map today for me and my friends and I must say it is a lot of fun. I think we spent about 6 hours just exploring and trying to get a home set up for our stuff. Unfortunately, a skeleton archer fell from the cliffs above and caught on fir and set our wood house on fire. I was ble to save most of our stuff but it was a huge upset. This time we rebuilt with cobble stone...
If you're into spoilers...
At the beginning I saw all the glowstone and decided to take it just for kicks. Turns out that is a great idea since you need to grow trees with little light. Glowstone has a light level of 15 so it is perfect for growing trees! So if you are having trouble maybe restarting and getting the glow stone is a good idea...
I can't wait to complete the challenges, we are 12 windows away from completing the first one!
Awesome map. Very dorfy. How did you make it? I'd love to know.
The only thing I was disspointed by though was that there was only one large cave nexus i.e. the one you start in. It's amazing. It's like a natural cathedral. I don't have the heart to modify it. But, there's just the one, and then it branches off into your standard MC caves.
I think you should consider conitinuing to work on this map and maybe add a few more unique massive cave openings for us to find. Even if you have to add a few chunks to the map.
And maybe as MC develops we can come up with a few optional rules to play but that will increase the challenge without making it a ***** to play.

How to install for multiplayer (if your hosting)
If your hosting a server, open up that file that you use for hosting and do this...
1. Download the file and open the zip
2. Drag the file from within the zip you downloaded, into the file which you use for hosting.
3. Open server properties (server.properties) in a notepad or similar application
4. Where it says "level-name= (world name)" change "world name" to the name of the file you dragged from the zip (so type in "level-name=SurvivalUndergroundv1MP" or rename the file you downloaded to something easier. (and remove the brackets of course )
5. Save notepad and close it
6. Run server :smile.gif:
7. Have fun!
This map is amazing. Though, the RNG said "F you" early on, and gave me no saplings. So then I tried to survive with 4 logs.... Bluh. I managed to make 4 torches, a stone sword, and a wooden pick. I also made a hut out of sandstone. Then a skelly sniped me and I died.
Great map.

Fixed it for you. = )

I actually have wood now. I can finally do stuff! And grow saplings!
YES!
Things are not as hard now.

Thanks for the fun Ashien!
4x Tree = 12x Wood and 1x Tree
1 Workbench (4), 8 sticks (4), 1 Wooden Pick (3) = 11 Wood
Use the Wooden pick until exhaustion on stone, build a tall thin room with a single safe entrance. Collect nearby dirt (by hand ONLY) while exhausting the original pick (minimum 1 dirt).

Seal off everything, only attack from above.
Hope that helps!
But I'm buried in coal since I went spelunking.
