Thank you! Criswell and I have been talking about this and with the group, and since 1.9 looks like it will probably be released in the next month, we're thinking that we may just hold out a little bit longer and get this updated so we can release it for 1.9 instead of 1.8. So it'll be a little bit longer, but when it drops, it'll be even more updated and have even more features.
Bear with us a little longer and you'll be greatly rewarded!

How did you guys react to the news that the 1.9 update won't be released till next year? Will this be reflected in the upcoming release of the new Criswelvania as well?

It may push us back a bit, but depending on the next couple weeks we may get a 1.8 or snapshot-compatible preview version out. We're making a ton of progress. Very excited to have people get a look at it ASAP.
If you want to help with the beta testing, I think we'll have a test copy in 2-3 weeks. You are welcome to participate!
So, it's been quiet for a while. Sorry about that. The upside is that we're still working on this and Minecraft 1.9 hasn't come out yet.
The better news is that in the time we've been waiting, we've been steadily working, fine-tuning, and adding new tricks, traps, and contraptions all around the main Book I area.
The even better news is that in the time since I created the city of Jova to the North, Criswell and I have expanded and grown the Wallachia region into a fully-formed questline and continuation of the story that will be fully incorporated into the new release as an "Interlude" leading into the upcoming Book II story and questline! I'll be sharing some pictures of the area over the next several days to give you a taste of the new adventure to come and give you something to look forward to.
Stick with us, folks. The Resurrection may have been stalled, but it's still coming, and it'll be stronger than ever!
Thanks for posting the update Spooky. That's right, we're still going -- very strong in fact. We are super excited about upgrades and improvements to the classic adventure, as well as a major expansion based on a new build entry from spookyhappyfun and developed in close collaboration over the past several months, leading players to the town of Jova where a massive and intricate mystery awaits to be unraveled, with new opportunities to explore, and new encounters to flex your best equipment and abilities. The legend of Minerva's greatest heroes has only just begun!
We are preparing to release around the time of the 5th Anniversary of Criswelvania at the end of this month, give or take a week. It's happening, and its gonna be great!
We hit an important development milestone today, in that all critical work that could be done in Minecraft v1.8.9 has been completed. I have switched over to today's snapshot build to continue adding in the 1.9 content and fixing any bugs occurring between versions. From the preliminary testing I did today, there are not many issues of that nature.
Minecraft 1.9 is coming soon and Criswelvania is ahead of the curve again at last (something I haven't achieved since MC 1.2.5!), aiming to be one of the first adventure maps you'll want to play to take advantage of the new content from this long-awaited update to the core game.
So, just thought I'd some out and say I've been lurking on this map ever since it came out all those years ago. I've played most ever update, and still find myself playing through it again and again. While I don't play much Minecraft anymore, I will most certainly be reinstalling to play this new update and I really do look forward to Book II. Thank you for your great work!

Thanks for the kind words. We're still working on it and hoping to give it a final push in the next few weeks just as 1.9 is about to drop. In the weeks since we moved to working in the snapshot, Criswell has come up with all kinds of fun new tricks and exciting experiences that make use of the new possibilities of the command blocks in 1.9, things that we've wanted to see across the map for years in some cases. Meanwhile, the new town of Jova and the Wallachia forest area to the North has been refined even more and comprises 4 new additional chapters of Book I, leading into Book II (maybe to come later this year).
We're still at it and we haven't forgotten you. We've got a couple more things to work on (refining a couple more bosses, balancing loot, creating new monsters across the world), but we're close!

Hey. Hope you guys are hard at work polishing up the details on this. 1.9 dropped fairly recently and I'd love to get back to vanquishing the lord of Criswelvania. Just want to say kudos for all the hard work, and I know you'll put out quality content pretty soon!

I've always had a deep respect, and I mean that most sincerely
The band is just fantastic, that is really what I think;
Criswell and I were just talking earlier today about our current plan of attack. He's shopping for some new PC parts and I'm planning out some of the merchants in the city of Jova. We haven't forgotten, promise!

Happy Halloween everybody! Wanted to give a brief update on the map progress:
We are preparing to release the map for the 1.9 Minecraft update shortly after it drops. Stay tuned!
