Which type of maps do people prefer:
Open World- No structure. You have to explore to find the wool and the dungeons are not in any enforced order (SoFII, Canopy Carnage, SBI)
Linear Branching- Uses intersections to direct gameplay (legendary, IM)
Open World/ Linear Branching- Has Intersections but they are more guidelines than directing gameplay (kinda like Infernal Sky II)
Open World Structured- Similar to a Zelda game, is an Open World landscape but certain Dungeons can only be accessed after others (using Jukebox + Capacitors to Block off certain areas).
Linear- The only way to go is forward.
I've been planning a map for a while and I'm wondering about what people think of the different types of CTMs and what they wish they could see more of.
Linear Branching for sure. I can't stand Open world unless it's organized in a way that you aren't running into the black wool dungeon before seeing the entrance to the white. (Slight exaggeration, but I do prefer a guided path. And I don't have to run around aimlessly as much.)
So what are the customs for each wool? I remeber a list somewhere, but don't remember.
White: Easy newb dungeon.
Orange: -
Magenta: Out-of-place difficulty
Light Blue: -
Yellow: -
Lime: Super combat heavy.
Pink: -
Grey: -
LGrey: -
Cyan: -
Purple: -
Blue: Water dungeon, where applicable.
Brown: Joke wool, easy.
Green: Psycological threat, but can be easily beaten with the right tactic.
Red: Short but very hard.
Black: A page get!
The only ones I really recognize are...
White: Nubish
Blue: Lame and easy to obtain based on how late it is
Brown: Joke
Green: Tense and nerve-wracking
Red: Most combat-heavy dungeon in the map
Black: Creator pulls ALL the stops in the attempt to kill you

Can someone help me with the victory monument for inferno mines? I can't seem to find it, even though I've looked throughout the map. Or am I just being dumb and it's right there in plain sight?

Intersection 3 > Wilhelm Cliffs > Go Up > Purple Wool Box > Go Up > Vines
for people that have played waking up before, would it be suited for multiplayer? is there anything that could be gamebreaking that would need to be spawned in?

White: Easy newb dungeon.
Orange: - Loot Provision Area?
Magenta: Out-of-place difficulty
Light Blue: -
Yellow: -
Lime: Super combat heavy.
Pink: - Easy Cavernish-type thing
Grey: -
LGrey: -
Cyan: - Has a puzzle mechanic into it?
Purple: -
Blue: Water dungeon, where applicable.
Brown: Joke wool, easy.
Green: Psycological threat, but can be easily beaten with the right tactic.
Red: Short but very hard.
Black: A page get!
But I don't think you should be restricted to these customs when mapmaking though. I like more creativity than repetition.

Every bloody CTM map series boasts that it's bigger, longer, and harder than other CTM series. It's almost as if it's a **** measuring contest. (bigger, longer, harder...)
Alright, yes, the silverfish place had more to it. I climbed up and found a cave-ish thing with ghasts. It was a really intense fight, but I won.
The punchline? THERE WAS NO WOOL. Considering how well it was hidden though, I'm not surprised, because a place that's that hard to find shouldn't have wool, that'd be unfair. It just had a stone tools and food chest, which is actually pretty good. However, I think people ont this thread need to learn that STONE TOOLS AND FOOD =/= WOOL!
EDIT: ZOMG HYBRAN! YOU CAN HAS A NEW SIGNATURE THAT IS ADVERTISING SOMEONE ELSE'S CTM SERIES! YOU A SELL OUT!

You in the Sandstone place?
Go up to the very top of the cavern with the chest blocked by obsidian.
Face the cave wall.
OOH LOOK A PLATFORM! AND A TUNNEL BEHIND IT!
Enter.
Die to cave spiders and feesh.
Find Blue Wool.
Find Green Wool.

Whoa, Hybran's gone red. Also I died twice trying to destroy the
zistykin spawner in Lower Mines
but ended up trying to tunnel past it. While hiding from creeper swarms in the process of tunneling a creeper manages to blow it up himself. Why couldn't you have done that 2 deaths and and an hour ago?!

This is the place that everyone told me had wool, but didn't. Then people told be that there was a hidden part of it that had wool. I found the hidden part, but it only had a little loot, and no wool.

Lower Mines becomes 10 times less menacing if you RUN. Oh dear lord I'm starting to sound like Hybran.

Thanks! I'll go look right now.

Are you in Singapore? Lets form a protest!
>implying he's going to fix it on demand
Let's totally just repeat the same concepts over and over again until people like it because that's easy.

Nice bacon. You might want to cook it though, before you use its color.
