Don't backdate Minecraft, all maps are playable on 1.4.7.
BD 1 requires an infinite night machine to be built though, and NR might too.
And start with CC, it's very easy.
If you haven't beaten Kaizo however, do that.
(what have you done?)
I have beat only Infernal Sky II and Sunburn Islands before it was updated and added the Chars and Boomers and stuff. Btw, how do you build an infinite night generator? I am a serious noob at playing CTM's.
oooh, I would love a sand/gravel/dirt-bound burrowing worm enemy, I hadn't thought of that. Would be great for vanilla deserts and making avoid-touching-the-sand areas in maps. :3
It involves random generation of dungeons based on MCedit schematics, something I remember you were interested in when you were working on the SH Roguelike map. Anyway, just dropping this off here.

1. Go into creative.
2. Hack in 137 (/give <yourname> 137), stone, redstone, redstone torch, dispenser, 9 stacks of dirt, and a wooden pressure plate.
To use commands, do Open to lan/cheats on and use them, after you're done reload the world.
3. Fly off a bit and build this:
Layer 1:
where
sponge = command block
red wool = redstone
Set the command block's command to /time set 16000.
Layer 2:
:-( ):
where
wood = wood pressure plate
apple = redstone torch
Layer 3 (final):
where
zombie = dispenser facing the center.
Fill the dispenser with the 9 stacks of dirt, and throw all your hacked items onto the pressure plate. This will set the time and start the 5 minute clock going.
Can't you just use a daylight detector? Unless he's not using the snapshot, I suppose.
Also, burrowing mobs. Sounds fun, although I'm curious if they break though the blocks or just clip through them. Breaking would be more fun, I think. Would cause a cool effect in sand/gravel.
Ooh, and a random dungeon generator. I could see some cool uses for that.

If you take one out you better be ready to take on its angry cousins!
Took out an over head coal node once and was snuffed by a gang of Gravel seeking revenge!
50,000+ Replies. I think this is the most popular thread in the maps forum. Anyways, I'm ALMOST done with Spellbound Caves. It's mind-blowingly hard.. for me.

I doudt this is the most popular thread on the forums... although it might be the most popular in the maps group.
The mods threads get very long.

I still want SH Roguelike and with this I predict the map will be released late April.
I have a feeling I want to go on a map spree like Yuri, and I can backdate Minecraft, so what ones should I do in terms of difficulty?
Cue Hybran giving me an organized list.
I believe that, at last update, this was Hybran's list:
Infernal Sky II
Sunburn Islands
Spellbound Caves
Sea of Flame II
Kaizo Caverns
Lethamyr
Legendary
Nightmare Realms
Waking Up
In 1.4, I would put Canopy Carnage just before Spellbound Caves, and BDII right before Lethamyr. That's just my opinion, but I think they would be right around there. Hybran?

For the burrowing mobs, I hope they burrow through blocks, but stay within a spawn zone until they attack/are attacked. Would be cool to be exploring and find a burrower colony.
Dinnerbone and I had a long discussion about monster types a few weeks ago. Not going to give out much info here, but basically we went over all movement and attack types in the game, and what was missing.
Here are some missing things:
Movement:
- Hopper
- Burrower
- Stationary
- Special (monster only crawls on vines, a monster that only jumps from leaf block to leaf block, a ranged golem that can only move on rails, etc)

BDlol shouldn't even be on the list. And that list there is good, cue people arguing that Sunburn is z0mg r0mhak hard!1!!!11!
I know I'm a bit late on the whole mob-stack thing bu here are a few I like:
A bat with an invisible (don't think this is possible but oh well) tnt spawner on its head. The bat would fly around dropping tnt on you until you shot it. Then the spawner would fall and blow its self up when it hits the floor.
Skeleton/Zombie with an invisible witch on its head. This would add some interesting fighting mechanics as the witch would heal the skeleton/zombie.
A blaze on a feesh. The feesh would have a gazillion slowness so that it couldn't move making it a kind of blaze turret.
Also on the subject of new mobs, I think It's about time for a decent air mob that's not nether exclusive, and for gods sake we need a hostile water mob!

I think we can have witch/blaze on invisible enderman (make it angry before you finish the map). Then we have will always have a turret behind us until we kill it
Furries are cool.
Well, this could make my map much easier to make.
You just lost the game.

Fill the dispenser with the 9 stacks of dirt, and throw all your hacked items onto the pressure plate. This will set the time and start the 5 minute clock going.
Now return to the starting base and play the map

Excluding off-topic, we may have the longest.

I know there are some in the Mods forum that are longer, but I think that may be it.
I think NR should go before Legendary, since many of the mechanics in NR are broken from recent patches.
For the burrowing mobs, I hope they burrow through blocks, but stay within a spawn zone until they attack/are attacked. Would be cool to be exploring and find a burrower colony.
Technically exists.
Part of Minecraft's charm is that it has just a few very distinctive mobs. I really hope that's not something that's going to change too much.
Something like Lurkers from SC1 would be really cool.
