I'm making a Let's Play of the map with my brother. I'll help with the building too, just tell me a building you want me to make and I'll start building it.
seems interesting. nice pics. nice "story" i guess you'd call it. and one thing. the exits wouldnt be so hard to reach if it was peaceful. but hey, i'm an honest player (and also a wuss) and will play on easy. but i'll momentarily switch to peaceful if i see a creeper (and i've been known to attract creepers, if you could only see all the craters in my friends server...)

Its difficult to make people build things, if they arent passionate about it, it wont get finished. Build something you want to build then send it in.

Haha, well the demo doesnt have exits. The full version will :smile.gif:
Are you just building the city or is there going to be anything around it (like towns or villages)?
It isnt just going to be CBD and social areas. There will be housing districts, slums, rich districts, manufacturing, airport, mines, desert, easter eggs, stuff like that :smile.gif:
Well I presume a police station to be a sort of sheriff's office, with a few prison cells attached. Maybe some administration areas. Stuff like that. We will eventually build a full-scale prison block though.
Could i help furnish the prison? i really enjoy aesthetics.
My police station includes the following:
1 story
1 waiting room
1 hallway with interrogation room
1 control room
2 cells
1 hole
Complicated (about 2 hours trying to add more stuff but ran out of room.) redstone.
From the control room you can open cells A & B (together), the hole, the cells and interrogation room (together), and the doors to the control room.
3 or 4 spawners set on monster for added fright.
a few chests (please add more) 1 in each cell and 1 hidden under the "bed" in the hole (i put some prison like crap in those chests.
To Callum
Callum please do a play through before adding this. The redstone took quite some time as i ran out of room and some redstone is concealed by the debris. Do you have a skype to chat real time?

We have a whole bunch of buildings you can furnish,if you like. Like, 12 of them I think.
The police station was good, I found it quite challenging as moving around the locked doors in to the control room was bloody difficult. I ended up just going outside and going around the back. Ill have to cover up the redstone, so there isnt like, a big hole. But yeah, it was good :smile.gif:
and no, I dont have skype. The computer I am using has buggered up, I need to reinstall the OS and the sound drivers are completely messed.

Dang lol sorry about your computer, and cool so how can i furnish the buildings? just you pm me schematics and then once i furnish them i send them back?

I guess. Ill have to get them all ready to send, and do some of them ourselves of course. It is quite easy to make buildings, furnishing them is a b****.
EDIT: Im really not sure what the rules are for swearing here...

1.8 will have iron bars, to make building your prison cells easier.

You can swear but people tend not to like being swear at the bastards XD.
Ok, Ive watched a few vids and had a bit of a play of the 1.8 pre-release update, thinking about how it effects the whole map in general. Ive basically come up with this:
1. Chests. Hate. Most of the chests have been blacked out due to items on top of/near it. This means I have to go through and manually change I think most of them. Which is hundreds. Yay!
2. The massive reduction in possible health regen (Maximum is now 1/2 heart/5 seconds) means close quarter combat is much harder now. There will need to be more bows, arrows, TnT placement and armor. Food should be fine, as it is now stackable to 64. Just a tip: If you are going in to areas with high amounts of enemies (pretty much any dark place in the city), bring armor and plenty of blocks you can use as barricades. You will need it.
3. Again, food. Since it doesnt heal, and only contributed towards the hunger meter, I think there is way too much food. But I think it is fine for the moment.
4. Sprinting. Love it. We can create new challenges and obstacles for players to pass, like 4 block jumps etc.
5. New items. Wire/metal fences are perfect for survivor dwellings or prison cells. I can see everyone using these to their full advantage.
6. Silverfish. Muahahahaha. So many traps! I can now show how much I hate you guys :tongue.gif:
7. Slendermen. They will be loads of fun. In the sewers. I can see a good use for these, so long as they dont steal my blocks!
That's my two cents, figured Id actually contribute something, havent for a little while. There is probably some other stuff I didnt talk about simply because I dont know/they have no relation to the map whatsoever. Yogscast have done a few good 1.8 cover videos, look them up.
OOOOOHHHH!! I'm excited for this map for the 1.8(and 1.9?). It sounds juicy.
I wonder how different it is going to be...
Im doing a playthrough of the map, starting from the beginning, using 1.8. Im just going to check how easy/hard it is, what needs to be changed for 1.8, how we can change things up etc. Main thing I will be looking for is re-design options; we are currently in the process of re-making the roads, placing the buildings again and basically making it look more like a city. So if anyone has some ideas of things that can be changed, buildings that need changes, areas, loot, please say so :smile.gif: Itd help a lot!
From the huge fan of all zombie thematics I really enjoy playing it.
Just when you, standing on a roof of a skyscraper, watch at other buildings and streets, analyzing the situation in the city... Ahhh... That "I am Legend" atmosphere...
I WANT MOAR!
Even though I cleared only 3 buildings. This wall of bedrock ruins the view. Moreover, some chests are empty. I know, it takes time to make. Lots of hard work. The map is pre-alpha.
But I'm excited!
U know, tried to play on 1.8.1. My thoughts:
New hunger system adds atmosphere. If you ever played Project Zomboid, you know what I mean. You can't barricade yourself from zombies and survive this way. You have to move from building to building in search of food.
You now have stone bricks, their cracked and mossy versions! New type of material to build city with! Variety appreciated!
Texture pack really fits. But this texture pack needs update. Just delete "gui\particles.png" for food bar being visible. And Rotten flesh from zombies should be visible (placed in items.png file). That's all for textures!
Keep up this great job!
I will make some scematics for you (But only after I beat this city =D)
How do you mean? Ive played the sewers, they seem pretty much the same to me.
They added a fog around layers 0-10, so on low-altitude custom maps everything is foggy beyond about 20 blocks, even on Far render distance.
The sewers must not be as low as I thought .
If you turn around right now, you will see me behind you, eating a porkchop, holding a torch

Pretty much yeah.
You do realize that the "void fog" in 1.8 is going to make the sewers ridiculously difficult.
