been following this thread for a while, keep up the awesome work! you have inspired many designs for me (on a much smaller scale usually) :smile.gif: oh btw (i believe you are on a server doing this?) i recommend to use a program and download it to single player and then use mc edit to create a schematic file and you can then copy paste it into a new world as of 1.8 ... i believe a lot of stuff is going to change as of next update so might be a good idea to be on the safe side and at least download it now :smile.gif:

I know, i've been considering the possibility of re-rendering the same world seed and transferring the major parts of the server over. Not sure how ill do it, but it might be a necessity if 1.8 brings new ores and what-not.
For those looking for an update. Its been going slow. I took a bit of a break after a heart wrenching server death. Which resulted in a full week of digging to be lost. Lesson learned I suppose, many more backups :<

ouch >_< yeah in 1.8 the biome code is completely changed ... so if you enter in in the same seed it will end up completely different just so you know >_< and yeah MC edit is probably your best friend ... and then smooth the corners out with a similar program so that it looks normal
Any news on what your plans are now that 1.8 is out? 1 full year of working on this project now, right?
I've gone and redone tons of things. Adjusted torches for a better dwarf atmosphere, added details that weren't there previously and so on. I've also added a fully functional subway system with destination selection, overflow control and multiplayer capability (can have more then 1 player traveling to the same destinations.)
In the long run though Its getting harder and harder to find time to play. I've picked up LotRO again(yay moria) aswell as working most days of the week.
For now though, ill be waiting for the 1.8 changes to stabilize. Then transfer the entire city (and most of the exterior RP goodness) into a 1.8 world. Possibly simply take a week off to try and hammer down on houses. Was going to ask the forum here for dwarf themed house ideas along with a the story of the dwarf that would live inside (DO IT NOW GET A HOUSE FOR YOUR DWARF)
Have a good 1.8 seed with an AMAZING mountain view and a river system nearby? Post it and get an early peak.

So far I like the "chiyogami" seed the most. I don't know if its the large seas or the mountain shapes, but its superior to the second thus far. Aslong as we're talking about the same mountain range. On the map the one to the north.
Im looking aswell for a decent seed, but so far yours seems best.
i think this is amazing so far but y are u doing it all by hand. use too many items, creative mod with 1.8.1, or a ton of other ways. by hand takes to long

That's against the whole point.
I want a functional, good looking city that's completely legitimate. Why? Simply because I wanted to avoid the rampant mods that ruin what really make the game fun (the survival + resource collecting).
It would be like playing Sim city with a city already built for you. Sure you might have a bit of fun with it, but its gonna get old quick. Aswell as it just not being anywhere near the fun and challenge it brings regularly.

Exactly. When i started using TMI and other mods single player just got boring for me. It just made the game to easy...

I believe I have one for you :smile.gif:
seed:-4607132567852093914
at position x: 220 z: -190
Look in any direction, other than towards the mountain, and there is your view.
By the way, when you started, you said that it was on a sever. If it is still up, what server might that be?

Yeah, so I think I found it: chiyogami
Let me know if you want me to keep on looking. Load it up on creative and fly around for a bit, you'll find it.

I spawned in swamp, but I just turned around East there was an awesome mountain range.
(I'll keep these seeds coming until you want me to stop)
seed:-1355812882
This seed has a great mountain range interspersed with rivers and mini lakes. Very beautiful.
Also check out the coordinates 167, -220.
