So you want to change your pumpkin blur? You came to the right place.
1. Open up %appdata%
2. Open your .minecraft folder
3. Open your versions folder
4. Duplicate your 1.6.2 folder
5. Rename your duplicated 1.6.2 folder --- 1.6.2.pumpkin
6. Open your 1.6.2.pumpkin folder
7. Rename your 1.6.2.jar --- 1.6.2.pumpkin
8. Rename your 1.6.2.json --- 1.6.2.pumpkin
9. Open your 1.6.2.pumpkin json file with notepad and change the id to 1.6.2.pumpkin. Make sure you save it.
10. Open your 1.6.2.pumpkin jar file with your archiver - if you don't have one get one here. http://www.rarlab.com
11. Open the assets folder, then the minecraft folder, then the textures folder, and finally the misc folder inside the archiver.
12. Replace the pumpkinblur.png with your new pumpkinblur.png file and close the archiver.
13. Run the Minecraft Launcher.
14. Click on Edit Profile.
15. On the Use Version: drop down menu, select 1.6.2.pumpkin as your version and save your profile.
16. Play the game and slap that pumpkin on your dome.
As a side note - you can rename your 1.6.2 files whatever you want. Just make sure you keep it consistent. You can reuse this new version you just created for all of your modding!
11. Open the assets folder within your current .jar, then the minecraft folder, then the textures folder, and finally the misc folder inside the archiver.
12. Replace the pumpkinblur.png with your new pumpkinblur.png file and close the archiver.
13. Run the Minecraft Launcher.
^^^^ This is all you have to do Its really not necessary to make another versions folder renamed pumpkin or whatnot. Just replace the png image in whichever versions folder you are already using.
I'm sorry to revive a zombie thread, but I couldn't find anywhere on the Net to help me--I've tried doing this in the most recent version (1.8.8) and it doesn't work: the pumpkin blur stays up. I followed all the steps, but I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.
