My world lags, I have a ok computer, and Java is high priority, but the game still lags, this is because I discovered way too many chucks, so is there any way to delete specific chunks. In the region folder, in my minecraft save I have all the way up to r-14. Is that bad, is that a lot of chunks. How can I delete some I don’t want, and then not revisit the area to make my world smaller? Mcedit, something int the saves folder, anything!
I have had the same problem with my world before too, and had to figure out something to to about it. I really doubted that i could take away some of the files from the region folder, so instead I downloaded MCEdit. I put my world (from my server) into my "saves" file in the .minecraft folder. With mcedit, i could delete the chunks very easily and i tremendously trimmed the world down by deleting the chunks that no one had built in. The file was originally 585 mgb, but after doing all that it is now around 375 mgb. I hope this helped, and before i figured it out on my own, i was looking around and found this post and i wanted to help other people like you.

The game only loads and unloads chunks based on your viewing distance, so having a largely discovered map doesn't inherently bog down the system. If a chunk got corrupted, you'd only notice the problem near certain areas.
If you post your system specs, it'll give us an idea of what look for.
