For the past few months Minecraft forum has been getting buggier and slower on any computer I use it on. Whether I'm at school, home, or work I get horrible performance...ok, right now there's an invisible ad playing in the background that i cant get rid of without closing the site. On top of that the site constantly crashes and forwards me to advertisements.
Forget using the site on a phone. I dont have enough years in my life to wait for it to load.
Are the developers of Minecraft forum trying to ruin their site or are they unaware that they are being massively hacked?
Massively hacked? The ads are put by them to gain revenue to actually run this massive site; you could always buy Curse Premium to remove the ads if you wanted to.
A lot of people complain about performance on phones, yet i still load it in a few seconds, good layout on the other hand is another thing.
Also, what kind of browser, etc do you use?

It's your site and I'm certainly not telling you what to do. This is a great site and I'm sure it costs more than a few bucks to run. It's just very frustrating as a user when you have ads blaring in the background that you can't close and your browser keeps redirecting to random video game advertisements.
On top of all that Chrome or Firefox spike to up to 30% CPU usage when I'm on Minecraft Forum, depending on which computer I'm on.
I doubt this is the intended experience you guys wanted your users to have.

I switch between Chrome and Firefox. Its much worse on Firefox though. On the phone i usually use chrome.

Well I'm a normal user just like you and I understand what you mean but unfortunately, that's the way it's got to be for now.

This isn't the intended behaviour and should not be happening. As a company we have a policy across all of our websites of no auto-playing audio advertisements, along with no advertisements that redirect users. If you are experiencing either of these there are two likelihoods:
1. A malicious advertisement has slipped through and is live on the website, if this is the case you can take a screenshot and send me a Private Message and I will have it removed
2. Your computer (or phone) has malware/adware and is causing malicious advertisements to be injected into web pages. Although on very rare occasions one or two "bad" advertisements may slip through and end up live on minecraftforum.net, if you're experiencing it with any degree of consistency then the problem is most likely with your device. Please scan your systems (using something like malwarebytes) to make sure that they are not compromised: the majority of reports of consistent advertisement problems come from users with compromised systems.
I browse MCF on my phone, which has an ARMv6 processor with 256MB ram (128~ MB free for stuff), Opera Mini browser and Android Gingerbread 2.3.5. I tend to have no problems browsing the MCF via mobile device. Nor the other 2 android phones I have which have slightly worse similar and are Froyo android OS. The site is rather smooth nor does it lag rarely.
PC/Desktop wise I have no problems be I am using OSX 10.8.3 and latest Safari or on Windows 7 with Palemoon (Firefox), IE 12 or Chrome.
This sounds more like Malware then a issue with MCF advertisement system.
I have not had a problem with performance even on an iPod Touch (and that is not exactly your most powerful device!). My guess is that the problem is less the forum being overrun by hackers, and more the OP's device(s) being overrun by malware.

Good guess, but sadly not true. I'd take malware over this. The site just has some issues that need working out.

I'm unaware of when this will take place, but the forum's software is sometime going to be managed on Curse's forum software, Cobalt. This should help with bugs and such that you make be experiencing if it isn't malware.

Hm I think that Citric said that such ads aren't allowed and should be reported to him.
