Yeah, just as I thought. My post was deleted because I explained how to remove the ad, as others did. Again, we have a name for your sort. Dogs. & this advertisement move, a dogs act.
Why the hell not? I don't see how I'm breaking any rules. Care to explain that one?
The advertisements exist to offset the costs incurred by people using the forum. If you want to disable advertisements we offer an excellent way to do that while continuing to support the forum: Curse Premium which starts at about 3 dollars a month. If you're going to forcefully remove advertisements while you continue to use the forum that's your choice, we're not thrilled about it (because we offer a way for you to do it properly!) but we want everyone to enjoy the forum so we're not going to ban you.
However encouraging others to do the same and explaining how they can crosses the line of what is reasonable, it's unreasonable to expect us to allow you to encourage users to cut off our revenue supply which will in the long term harm the forum. The rules are guidelines, there are rules that shouldn't need to be written so we don't.
Why are the ads placed in a really awkward and obstructive position.
Could the ads be placed in the left and right margins of the page, where no important things are there.
The black stone background would be ideal, because Curse can place ads, bigger than the banner even and it wouldn't bother us. The banner ad has even made a few members leave the forums altogether.
What was wrong with the ads you had before? You expect people to pay $30+ a year just to remove one ad? What a god-damn joke. You're only encouraging people to leave these forums & go to place where they don't shove the ads down your throat. But, whatever. I've blocked your crappy ad.

I hope you understand where I coming from.
Kind regards.
I'm not involved in the decision process regarding advertisements so I'm unable to explain exactly why it's in the centre, however my understanding of the forum user base is that most users have monitors that are 1280px wide and lower. This means that most users do not ever see the sides of the forum, so advertisements being placed there would go unseen by most.
I understand what you're saying however I don't think it's practical.

Write the rule so you don't have to give everyone that excuse maybe?
Adblock can block this.
And you can dismiss the advert as well.
If you dislike the advert, then block it, don't whine.
This is likely a trial, they are seeing how it works. They will evaluate the effect of this advert on their profits, and if enough people block it they will have to go back. I personally don't see it all that bad a thing, i just have bad internet and it doesn't load very fast so i block it all. As well as issues on horizontal mobile devices which will be addressed soon i hope.
In fact, if they remove all ot her adverts and just have the middle one, maybe ill like that better, ill actually be able to load the page with advertisements on, allowing meto support this website.

Your friendly neighborhood dragon. Don't be scared, I won't bite!
I am here for you, Don't be afraid to send me a message.
Ok, here's the thing. This is made to go around the use of Adblock and supposedly allow Curse sites to grow. However, there is a way around it if you work a bit, meaning the only users affected are eventually the ones that don't use Adblock. It's much like anti-piracy videos in movie discs - the only ones that don't get that are the pirates themselves. Hence, it renders its own purpose null.
Now, the only solution presented is to buy Curse Premium - and that is nothing but extortion.
I'm using Firefox and AdBlock Plus is fine, I put a filter on the new ad system, and it worked. I have tried many filters. If the link is still there, I can still block it.
OK, I'm not going to spend this whole post complaining about the new ad. As much as I don't like it (It takes up a whopping 20% of my browser's vertical space!) it is the site's right to do so and I'm fine with that.
May I suggest a few improvements, though?
First, can you fix it so that the invisible area to the sides of the banner doesn't prevent me from using the forum's MultiQuote feature? It's not good to have to close the ad just to use the normal functions of the forum. Not from a usability sense, and definitely not from a financial one.
Second, try doing what video ad services do with their popup ads: Have them close after a certain amount of viewing time. I know there's a way to script it so that the ad will know whether the tab is in focus (I've seen it on other sites) and just have it count down so that it'll vanish if not clicked in, say, thirty-seconds or so.
Finally, there's a frame around the ad that's unnecessarily taking up space. I understand if Curse wants to make their ad presentation attractive, but try reducing it down to the bare minimum. In particular, there's several pixels of wasted space on the bottom that could be eliminated. Considering how large that banner is, ever pixel counts toward greater user accessibility.
Like most others, I think that this is a poor move on Curse's part and, unfortunately, is going to make me use Ad-Block on the site until it's removed... or at least altered to not interfere with my using the 'product' that it's supporting. I prefer to keep that off on sites I want to support but, well, that's how it goes. Just like it's Curse's right to put the ad there... it's my right to make sure I don't see it. Sorry.
The new advert that displays on the page as you scroll is the new "single anchor unit". The first time the advert unit is displayed you'll see an advertisement for the news post (written by our CEO, Hubert Theiblot) that explains the reason we're trying out this new advertisement unit and the changes that come with it.
If you do not wish to see the advertisement unit you can disable it by signing up for Curse premium which will remove every advertisement from the website when you're logged in and comes with many more features.
1. ad blocker plus is an option for people who dont which to see ads
2. I have adblocker plus and had to add this because when I loaded the site a HUGE advertisement for PORN poped up at the bottom of my screen, wtf....kids use this site
3. EVERYTIME i HIT POST it opens a new page advertisement

This sounds like malware on your own pc's end, not mcf. There are not adult advertisements on here and there aren't advertisements that open new pages. I would suggest scanning your computer with MalwareBytes, possibly even renaming the installer.
This.

closing that div every time i loaded a page on the forums wore thin...
I'm gonna make a Youtube Video about it.

1. Force people into Premium.
2. Force people to leave.
It is annoying, and it is hard to type at times. Every page, you have to close it over and over.
Augh.
THREE THINGS
1. ad blocker plus is an option for people who dont which to see ads
2. I have adblocker plus and had to add this because when I loaded the site a HUGE advertisement for PORN poped up at the bottom of my screen, wtf....kids use this site
