If you don't mind me asking, is there any particular reason why you'd want to do this? If you're aiming to delete your account, only to create a new account with the exact same name, then your concern must lie in existing posts you've made. If that's the case, why not just ask for the offending posts to be deleted by a moderator?
I apologize if I seem like I'm prying, but it's just a very strange decision.

Even if this is the case as the moderator said above he can report his own post and have it removed. There could be a number of reasons behind needing an account deleted.
On a side note in the rules it states if you would like to have a second account you would need to contact forum staff with a legit reason why.
Accounts can be deleted but it is permanent. Though if you wished to make a new account with the same name, I would have to ask why you wanted your account deleted?
To clear their list of infractions or remove embarrassing posts would be my two guesses.
Also, once I've done this, will it be possible to make a new account with the same name?
Thanks.

He wants a new account with the same name not a name change.
