Because when the OP states "I don't like hunger/new mobs" there are only two answers:
1. Play peaceful or creative
2. Use mods, either to change what you don't like or downgrade to a previous version.
You propose that BOTH of those answers should now be warnable offenses.
Then there is NO WAY to answer the question.
Notch has already said there will be no toggle for hunger (if you want a citation dig through his Twitter yourself) so that is not an answer. Ok, sure, it's a suggestion, then put it in the Suggestion subforum. However since that has already be suggested it will likely be locked for redundancy.
The only real way to solve the problem is to make the question a warnable offense itself.
There are more than two ways to answer questions about new features. Shocking, but a discussion on what people like/dislike about new features may break out.
And it wasn't OP that said there are only two answers, you did. OP said that that those are typical responses back and forth and should be thrown out, which I agree.
Download mods, problem solved.
Thats like if i dont like creepers red mushrooms and.. i dont know gravel, should there be an option for it?
Just because someone doesnt like a game mechanic doesnt mean there should be an offical way to dsiable this you cant please everyone and thats why there are mods, you can customize the game the way you want.

The OP didn't mention new features in general. The specific features mentioned in OP (hunger/new mobs) can only be changed in two ways. Yes, I said it, because it's true. There are no other solutions.
They are the typical responses because they are the only logical solutions to the problem OP cited.

I didn't specify hunger and new mobs. I didn't even mention new mobs. Those were examples.
I think that "Then just don't use it!" should also be added.
Why is this argument invalid?
Atmosphere. You know that there are potions. You know that there is magic. You know that they exist. Even if you avoid them at all cost, they will ruin the atmosphere. Also, avoiding things isn't fun. Notch could spend the time creating more important and useful stuff.

Wow. OP was using an EXAMPLE. He doesn't have a problem with hunger
People, I like hunger and new mobs. I play hardcore.
The entire subject of OP was to eliminate both of these responses in regards to hunger, endermen, potions, or whatever else. It doesn't mater which subject is being discussed. This is not about hunger, it is about "play on peaceful" and "there's a mod for that" being equally considered offences.
Because the list of possible options would be huge. And people would complain about there being too many options. So then they would have to add options that removed so many options. And then you would have even more options.
Far better to allow people to mod/add mods, that remove/add to the game. Which... they have done.
And yet "there is a mod for that" is an offence. This discussion is about making "play on peaceful" an offence as well. I don't have any problem with hunger the way it is btw, I was just going along with the example.
As you say, half of the answers are an offense, so why not make all answers to this question an offence to stop the flame wars
I agree. "Play on peaceful" when used to shut people up... should be an offense.
This is because when "something changes" and people don't like it there are two options:
Use a mod. First, you get immediate satisfaction. Second, I am certain that Notch was smart enough to have a "mod reporting system" that gives him stats on how many people use each mod. Anybody *not* notice that quite a few of the 1.8/1.9 enhancements were first implemented as mods that became popular?
Voice your discontent in the forums or "Get Satisfaction" section of the website. Why? Because Mojang staff *do* read them. When enough complaints happen (especially during pre-release), they tweak the new feature before releasing it. Of course, the forum has lots of jerks that will troll the thread in offensive ways, but the important thing is that Mojang will still hear you.
Hunger is not even a ****ing threat, and what do you mean by mob griefing? Endermen? You ****ers made him get nerfed, one of the creepy points of the Endermen is to have some small parts of your base taken off. I mean Jesus Christ they can only pick up ONE ****ING BLOCK IT'S NOT HARD TO REPAIR IT YOU WHINING BABIES!
Every single thread is:
"oh no creepas!!! nerenfnenrnefnenfenfnefnen!"
"i haz so lag!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
"endermen op nerfefnefnenfenfnenfenfnefnefnefnenfenfenfen"
"babe anmals look ****!"
"potions no fit minecraft!!!!!"
Jesus Christ all of these things are fine, and the lag is a problem with your computer. People in this forum need to stop whining, and just deal with it. It's not their game, it's not going to be perfect.
Oh, OK. So how's this for a solution for those whinebottles instead:
Deal with it!
Because adding options for every little thing people might not like is an offense towards Game Design :tongue.gif: And leads to situations like that fake Skyrim Options Menu.
"Oh, I don't like sad creepers, I want mine to be happy! And don't tell me to use texture packs or I'll throw a fit!" see? Give 'em a hand and they'll take your arm, kid. That's life.

Minecraft development is not different from other games. I dont like gta 4 cops add toggle bar, i dont like crysis aliens add togglebars i dont like css headshots add togglebar. Go deal with it or move your whiny ***** somewhere else.

That's what bugs me.
Does no one know what an example is? This thread has nothing to do with gameplay at all, at least that wasn't the intention. It's in the title: replying with "play creative or peaceful" should be a warnable offence. OP was using hunger as an example of a discussion, and then later said they like hunger/play on hardcore. This is about forum behavior, not Minecraft gameplay.
This is not about the new features being toggeable, this is about the way people respond to that kind of post/request, I think not replying is better than saying ''use a mod'' or ''just don't use it'', or that kind of answers, those are the obvious solutions (not the only ones), and the OP does not look for that, so why to post (a tiny flame war will never stop whine posts)?

I agree this is also annoying.
You're seriously going to act as if "mob griefing" doesn't specifically refer to Endermen?
Well, since I'm not a complete loon I guess I don't understand the way your language works. Anything further would be pointless. Good day sir.
Wow. OP was using an EXAMPLE. He doesn't have a problem with hunger
