So I was thinjking why not give people who are helpful the rank of VIP.
nothing would change apart from there name being a diffrent colour, one that stands out. so when your looking though a thread with a lot of useless posts you can easily pick out the usefull people.
ShadowDusk, I appreciate your 3687 contributions to this forum. Believe me, I'm growing to love the community that you've help build here. Why not spend a few bucks and donate to help keep the forums going? Your name color changes and it further helps the community stay a community for months to come... I'd much more quickly look for a forum donator or or mod/admin before looking at VIP results....
D --> A VIP rank sounds superf100us, but yet it could have a nice result. Imagine if you wish a VIP rank is put in - People start becoming nicer and more helpful since they want their elite status and the survival section becomes a better place. That's what I imagine it would be like at least.

Do not wallow do not stall
Time waits for none at all
Your allowance may crawl,
It may fly or even vanish
But none will seem more lavished
Than time lost to all.
I would be much more in favour of a reputation system rather than just picking out the helpful players. That way, the posts really would be able to speak for themselves, even to newer members.
I'm not against this, I think it's a good idea to show the newer members of the forum which users are more useful, I simply prefer a reputation system. Though, I'm somewhat against calling it "VIP" though, I'm sure a better name could be suggested, for example, I would consider notch a "VIP" rather than something that suggests a helpful user.
Making people VIP doesn't make sense to me. For one, how would you identify who makes the best posts? Secondly, there's that whole matter of elitism; it's bad enough that some people think that a higher post count makes you a better person.
I would, however, like a simple ignore button. Ie, you can make it so that you simply do not see posts from people whose posts you don't want to read.
I reccomend you guys get IPBoard, but you would lose everything
Funnily enough, we're discussing the pros and cons of moving to either vBulletin or IPB. We wouldn't lose everything either, since we have some very talented database peeps aboard ship. We moved from FluxBB to PhpBB a few months ago.
