I have noticed that every time I load a page, it will quickly start to load, and then, for about 10-15 seconds, the browser will freeze. This happens regardless of whether an ad-blocker is running or not, and is slightly worse when a "background-picture" ad is displayed. Earlier today, this happened, and I received a message stating that the TinyMCE application is taking a long time, and would I like to stop the script.
Aside from page-loading issues, I also notice occasional pauses as I type in the chat window. Often, it's only in the hundredths of a second range, but other times, it takes up to a whole second to the next letter to be typed. This does not happen when I use the [BB] mode, just the WYSIWYG mode.
Apparently, this only happens in existing threads or private chats; new threads like this one (where I'm typing my initial message) do not seem to have any such problems.
Thanks for the offer; my reason for posting it here, however, is in hope that the management will see it, use the symptoms to find the source of the problem, and correct it. My suspicions are, considering the performance issue only happens in pre-existing threads, and combined with the "extra space after quotes" issue, that the problem might be in the "multi-quote" feature. Buuuut, it's just a guess on my part.
There are a number of issues associated with the editor software we use (TinyMCE) that we're aware of but unfortunately there's no quick fix. Long term I hope that we'll make significant headway on the editor issues but I can't make any promises at this point about when this will/won't happen. Some of the issues are browser specific so you may find that if you switch to a different browser (Google Chrome performs better than Firefox for example) but we know this isn't a perfect solution: you should be able to use the forum properly regardless of browser.

I'm sorry that you're experiencing issues
I've worked tech support for 10 years. You don't have to apologize to me. The whole point of my posts is to provide information to help diagnose the problem.
For what it's worth, I'm having the same issues. Just trying to write this post is painful. I write something, and my words takes 5-10 seconds to appear on screen. It's even worse if I try to backspace or move the cursor. I'm in effect writing blind.
In order to try to improve the speed, I've now blocked absolutely all scripts except the bare minimum to make the site work. I've blocked scripts from 9 sites, and allowed only 3. It's slightly more responsive, but there are still lag issues, and moments of browser freeze.
Is this how you want it to be, moderators? That users have to pick your site apart to be able to use it?

Pale Moon 24.7, which is a speed-optimized Firefox. I'm staying as long as I can on the browser I'm using, because I'm fed up with the "change for the sake of change" attitude of "let's copy Chrome" Firefox. Lots of add-ons of course, mostly annoyance blockers. That's why I'm using Pale Moon/Firefox.
So, to test, I just opened one of the resource pack threads. 54 seconds before it was done loading, and the PC froze twice.
IE 8 took 43 seconds, no freezes.
I haven't installed Chrome yet, but I might use it just to be able to use this site. But running a portable version, it took 2 minutes and 10 seconds, most of the time waiting for googletagservices. No freezes, though. Also, I'm not using adblock on Chrome to block the most annoying signatures, like I am on Firefox.
BTW: If a signature moves, I nuke it immediately. I will only see it once. It helps with the page load speed, and preserves my sanity. People use lots of time to create awesome signatures, and I just kill them.

If you can install Chrome and try using the site with Chrome that would help us better identify the problem.
The issues you're experiencing with connecting to Google services are strange, it's possible you have an issue somewhere with your connection. Do you use your ISP's DNS servers? You might find better results using the Google DNS servers: https://developers.google.com/speed/public-dns/
The funny thing is, I've blocked googletagservices and googletagmanager in Firefox. No waiting. Just an unholy amount of other stuff to load.
I don't think it's the connection. Just about all other sites load immediately, with no freezes. And seeing that I'm definitely not the only one with this problem, I suspect you've outsmarted yourself with an overly complicated setup. It's not the ads, because they're fairly small and quick to load.
Trying again with Chrome, it's now waiting a long time for ib.adnxs.com. The rest goes fairly quickly.
And the editor is still like trying to type through treacle. I type half a sentence before the screen updates. That is not my connection.

UPDATE: I got the script stop error again. The name of the script file causing the freeze is tinymce.min.js

I'm using OpenDNS.

Hey! Atleast in Chrome on Android (and i use desktop view) it loads way faster than in PC. What cause?
I'm a programmer. I use C/C++, BASIC, Assembly, and Python. If i sound too technicial, that's because it's the way i think.
