Apparently, swearing is not allowed, AND auto-censored in this forum.
What is the point of automatically censoring them if you are just giving some warning right after that?
What is the point of giving a warning if you are automatically censoring them?
Besides, all swear words have multiple meanings. , for example, is a synonym for poop/feces, and is used most as a simile or metaphor to compare things to excretion.
If you are going to censor '', why not censor every single synonym of '', since that meaning of the word is what caused the word to be a swear word.
In fact, that is why I oppose the entire definition of swear words, and why I oppose halfhearted attempts to purge them.
Imagine a person with no knowledge of synonyms of ''. He will constantly use '' to describe feces, and will constantly get infractions in this forum because apparently people are not allowed to describe feces in the word with the meaning the writer is trying to convey and span the fewest number of letters.
In fact, issuing an infraction for asterisks can be equated to a mod rubbing salt on the recipient of the infraction. It has no positive effect on the community, and it is entirely useless.
The automatic censor does not nullify the need for the rule. It is not completely reliable, and it is there as another layer of protection meant to "soften the damage caused" by posting profanity by reducing the amount of people who are able to see the word, it is not there as an excuse to swear freely.
A group of different words may share (at least) one same meaning, but their degree of offensiveness is certainly not the same. Being a family friendly Minecraft forum, it is in our best interest to make sure we welcome as many members welcome as possible. The staff had to choose between welcoming offensive language versus foregoing a small selection of words - which realistically either have less offensive options to replace them with, or shouldn't even be used here in the first place - which may bar access to the forum for some members, the choice is obvious.
Also, it is not very wise to suggest changes to rules while breaking them at the same time. I have removed the profane words from your post without deleting your post and issuing a warning. I hope I will not have to do so a second time.
IS '' censored? Is '' censored? Is '' censored? Most importantly, is '' censored? Being a family-friendly forum, all words related to sexual encounters should be banned, but, for some reason, only one is.
Besides, it is entirely possible to interpret any verb or noun as a swear word. For example, Reddit make huge use of the word 'Autist' (which is a word that exist to insult people by implying they have autism, and for no other reason since a person is most often not defined by his mental illnesses) to insult people. 'Cancerous' is another such word used in a different community.
The entire fallacy behind the definition of swear words and banning them is the lack of banning of longer words or words that are supposed to be hard or unheard of, but is in common use today.
No matter how many swear words you ban, there will be worse words that people can use to insult each other.
Not all words are going to be censored, but that doesn't give you the right to use them. The filter is basically "These are going to be commonly used even if we say they aren't allowed, and since we aren't omniscient we can't catch all of them." It's a means of easing the workload for the mods/admins and making the forums friendlier in general.
And yes, people will use words to insult each other unless we ban the entire dictionary. Doesn't mean we shouldn't use a filter for the common ones and doesn't mean we should just allow it because we can't filter all of them.

Foreign swear words will never be censored, on any forum. A majority of English speakers don't swear in other languages unless their native language isn't English. Those people are a minority on English forums already and a majority of that minority won't break the rule anyway.
There's a massive difference between swears and insults. Cancerous could be used as an insult, or it could be used in a legitimate conversation about cancer. You can't censor something just because a group of people abused it, especially when the word has a use that is far more wide-spread. If it was used as an insult, then that of course would warrant punishment...
Finally, as far as I've seen, respectful, scientific-oriented discussions on sexual health are not banned on this forum. I'm obviously not a mod so I can't say anything conclusively, but the topic has come up and nobody I've seen has been censored or had their post deleted. Not all discussions on that topic have to be crude or inappropriate. Reproductive health is just another type of health science.
If this forum didn't censor swear words, it would lose half its audience, as most parents do not allow their children on sites that allow bad language. This of course is not just a forum for children, so they have to take into account the needs of the teenagers and adults on this forum. But swearing is not necessary. You will never have to swear, especially around children. It is sometimes easier to swear, or it sounds better to swear, but you don't have to do it. So eliminating 4 or 5 words from your vocabulary during the 10 minutes at a time you visit this forum is not much of a sacrifice.
As TLOSpyrogirl said, you never have to swear. I'm pretty sure there's no one in this forum, various heavily-censored news comment threads, etc., who has ever misunderstood my opinion of anyone or anything. And that's without respelling "badword" as "b4dw0rd" or something.
I started doing so as a matter of following rules -- staying out of trouble and all -- and realized something: It made me a better writer. Instead of taking a shortcut -- "this update is [fill in your chosen swear word here]" -- I'd have to say why I didn't like it. It's kind of like that old writing exercise where you write a page without using any form of "to be" in order to use more active verbs ... "he growled with rage" instead of "he was angry". I avoided getting in grief in forums, having my comments filtered in news stories and blogs, and became a better writer. I can't argue with that.
Anyway, it comes down to the fact that the Powers That Be (Curse, Inc. in this case) own the forum, and they get to decide what the rules are. If they prohibit the word "bookkeeper" it doesn't matter whether you think they're right, wrong, or just plain nuts; be careful how you talk about accountants. If you have to just accept that it is an arbitrary rule, and certain combinations of letters are an abomination unto Nuggan, so be it.
It doesn't matter if it means rosebush. It's against the rules of the forum, you know it's against the rules, and you have the choice of following those rules or accepting the consequences of not doing so.
If you go on, say, a Ford owners' forum, and any mention of GM cars is strictly verboten, you can argue until you're blue in the face that there's nothing wrong with posting about your classic Corvette, but at the end of the day, you're still going to be in grief with the Ford owners' forum management. Even if you think a particular word is perfectly okay to use in all places and on all occasions, it's not okay here. There are words that have been used on the floor of the US Senate that can't be used here. It is what it is.
