I dont remember hearing about this because when I was fooling around with 12w08a update I pressed y in third person mode and it zoomed in and u zoomed out. Am I the only one that didnt know this

News to me, I remember that feature used to be available in a previous update but then Mojang removed it for some reason. :unsure.gif:

There's about a billion videos on youtube of this, that's how I found out.

Zoom in until the screen turns upside-down.

Rotate the screen so that your view is right-side-up.
