Why did they add the end its pointless it should give you something like diamonds!!, gold, iron? something good. or maybe they should let you be a zombie and start a new life and defeat humans i mean give us something
It gives you like 70 freaking levels worth of XP so you can either get 1 really epic enchantment and then another awesome enchantment, or 3 awesome enchantments and 1 alright enchantment, or any other combination.
Obviously it's useless, Notch just put it together quickly because he wanted an ending. We all know that sandbox games shouldn't have an ending, but have fun trying to convince Notch something. The sky dimension would of been the better addition, but he replaced it with The End instead. Glad he stepped down from Minecraft.
As a serious reply, I'll post what I said from another thread:
I like it. I think since it's the linear side of the game, the end battle should be more climactic and actually difficult which I'm sure they'll fix it later.

There are achievements and achievements make me feel like I'm using all the resources of the game.
I can build a giant santa, I can build a redstone computer, but all of that stuff I don't do regardless of expansive imagination because what is the point? Some people are into projects and that is what creative mode is for. For some of us, we like survival, we like difficulty, we like set goals.
After you beat the dragon and it rolls the rhetorical wall of text, I get the feeling of, "Go play in your sandbox, kid." It felt totally pointless simply because the ending was anti-climactic for those of us who like goals and challenges. It was no challenge and it had no interesting lore besides exploring strongholds.
I personally think the End is actually a great achievement. I mean, if you really think about it, it really is kind of useless, but its supposed to give you a "Oh My God, I'm so lucky finding a Stronghold here!" Kind of feeling. Then you would have to try to get enough eyes of Ender to activate it, and now you work on Killing the EnderDragon! Once you kill it, you'll feel pleased with yourself!

My house will always keep me building it, whether I'm improving or repairing it. Resources will keep me traveling, where I'm always experiencing something new in a randomly generated world. Achievements are useless as much as an ending. They implemented something thats limited, when we could of obtained something that was unlimited.
Wanna feel good for a few seconds? Go play and beat a flash game, at least you don't have to pay for it. This is why I don't buy games with an ending anymore, because after I play it, I end up throwing it away.

OP COMPLETELY missed the point of the End. ****, OP missed the ENTIRE point of the End.
The End is a boss fight. It's intended to be a more 'epic' fight [I still want to have epic BGM playing], and of course it gives you LOTS of XP to let you experiment with enchantments.

its cool. its not totally useless either. you can beat the enderdragon and get a ton of xp, you could go there to collect obsidian, end stone, ender pearls, and who knows what that egg will be used for.
We already have the Nether, which is not even challenging enough.
And the Enderdragon is more like a giant flying puppet.

Ravines and Strongholds don't suck.
Mineshafts don't suck.
Mooshrooms, mushrooms biomes, oceans, enchantments, experience and potions suck.

The "use" is to house the boss that can FLY THROUGH ****ING EVERYTHING. You would honestly want the boss to be anywhere other than an island in a completely different dimension? This doesn't qualify as an end, it's just a boss. Sky dimension would've been a **** place to fight anything: "OH **** THAT DRAGON PENETRATED THE GROUND AND ALL MY **** AND FLEW TO AN ISLAND WAY FAR AWAY! BETTER BUILD A 100 BLOCK DIRT BRIDGE TO GET HIM!"
Finally, you and your thread with 200 votes don't speak for the majority, stop posting.
I just wish beds worked in the end. I like having my own personal pocket dimension. It would be great if I could build teleporters that would connect to the Nether or the normal world.
Also, while kinda boring, I did have fun fighting the Ender Dragon.

I use the FTB modpack, because it's fun, and extremely convenient.
