Hi I am building a huge world since years and making every place reachable by the first place with a system of rails. Some places are very far and I would save a huge amount of time if this would work.
I am thinking about a way of controlling a lever from very far so I could switch the levers to change the direction from my main railroad at the edge of the rails so I would not have to build double the rails 10minutes of railroad travel time away. I would need a remote in my railroad station, something that would reach far away (redstone dust with something that reactivates it every ___ distance so it could reach far?) and a lever that could be controller in distance that would switch the rail from far away.
Redstone will actually work, believe it or not. When a redstone line travels from a loaded chunk (a part of the world the game is currently "thinking about") to one that isn't loaded, it will load that chunk long enough to send the redstone signal.
In other words, redstone works in unloaded chunks as long as the signal starts in a loaded chunk.
I have connected 2 levels or a lever and a button with redstone and switching one doesn't affects the other and the redstone stops after only a few squares so I'd have to reduce my loaded chunks to like 1 or 2 ahead to make it work which is totally unviable, (and also I would like it to work in the other direction too).
Would there be a way to make a check point with the redstone to make it be reactivated after a while?
What would allow a lever to be switched from a distance with a control switch or button?

Ok thanks, but what would I need to do?
