Right off the bat, I want to say that I have no problems with the SIZE of the new Biomes. I feel that it is great that we can finally be immersed in a biome without seeing a desert or a snow biome just a few feet away.
That said, I feel as though the biomes since 1.8 have become significantly LESS interesting (with the exception of the new biomes- swamp and shroom island).
I have several major complaints about the new biomes:
1) It doesn't snow in Taiga anymore, it rains.
I don't understand why this change was made, perhaps its is a bug? Or perhaps there are a certain number of Taiga in which it does snow? I know a lot of people complain about snow biomes (why, is beyond me), but this is a snow biome, not a rain biome.
2) Swamp borders...
They are still unspeakably ugly. I really wish they would blend like the other biomes.
3) The war on trees and the flattening of the world.
The majority of new biomes are utterly tree-less and/or absurdly flat. This is the one that bugs me the most. Huge, impossible, mythological, tree covered mountainscapes are what made Minecraft feel like Minecraft.
But now we have either just mountains, which are far too rare and treeless, or forests, which are far too flat, to be interesting. The whole situation has ironically resulted in a loss of sense of adventure.
I'm dying for the (re-)addition of the gorgeous forested mountainscapes of Minecraft olde. (Or at least a vast increase in liberal use of mountains in forests).
I feel as though these three things, although they may be a consequence of an effort to make minecraft biomes more realistic, are a bit misguided and distract from the essence of minecraft.
Bring back the soul of minecraft's original biome! The lush green heavily forested mountains!

What do you all think?
This.
I support the realization of this. NOTCH FIX NAO!
Absolutely agree. It's been getting insanely boring with the plain biomes. And the worst thing is, every seed seems the same. There's nothing exciting about it anymore.
I agree with Swamps for sure. I find them a big pain and I find WAY too many of them. As for Mountains, I was able to deal with mine as I just went to another biome, brought a tree over and started a garden with it. It was a pretty cool adventure to establish a base. Otherwise, since 1.8 forward if I don't find a biome remotely interesting, it is off my computer within a week because it's bland.
I am pretty sure the world generator changed a long time ago, but I really think they should salvage some features from the old one. I still play on worlds from the Alpha days because the terrain was really interesting, no matter the biome. Even if you had floating islands, it was some of the best terrain I've ever played on.
