I hope this is the right forum. If it is not, I'm sorry. I was going off of where the other posts with the STOP error were posted.
In short: My computer crashes a few minutes or so into playing Minecraft. None of my other games seem to trigger this reaction. However, the problem started with Metro (through Steam -and Metro is now uninstalled), not Minecraft. It doesn't seem to matter whether I play with a vanilla, mostly vanilla, or modded Minecraft.
The longer version: A few months ago, when there were free codes for Metro through Steam being given out on Facebook, I got it for my brother to play (it won't run on his computer). He played it for a while without trouble, but when he reached a level/map/chapter (I wasn't really paying attention, and I don't know how that game runs), my computer crashed and gave him a blue screen. He tried a few more times to play the game, and it kept crashing and giving him a blue screen. I don't know how many times he tried after the first time. After that, when I tried to play Minecraft, my computer would crash and give me a blue screen. I uninstalled Metro as soon as I could, but the crashing didn't stop. Since it was only Minecraft that seemed to trigger the crashes, I uninstalled and re-installed Java. That didn't fix it either. I don't know what else to try, besides giving up Minecraft, and I really, really don't want to. I have googled blue screen of death, and once I realized the STOP: # had a lot to do with the type of crash I googled that too. I saw on a post somewhere to download BlueScreenView to see the crash file, so I downloaded that, although I'm pretty sure it's not showing the same information on it's blue screen preview as I saw on the real thing. I haven't done much since about my problem since downloading that, mostly because I don't know how or what to do.
The error I keep getting says something about a clock interrupt not being received on a secondary processor within the allocated time interval. The STOP number is: 0x00000101
My computer is about 8 months old. The computer info on the System page (brought up by bringing up the start menu, R-clicking on Computer, and then bringing up properties) says:
System---------------------------------------------
Manufacturer: CyberPower Inc.
Rating: 5.7
Processor: AMD A6-3670 APU with Radeon™ HD Graphics 2.70 GHz
Installed memory (RAM): 8.00 GB (7.73 GB usable)
System type: 64-bit Operating System
I searched MinecraftForums for other posts about the 0x00000101 code and in the posts a dump file was sometimes requested. I don't know how to get one, but if it is needed and someone can provided instructions, I'll do my best to get one posted.
I hope someone can make sense of this... I'd be really grateful for some help and constructive advice.
EDIT: It happened again (actually, it's frozen or blue screened a few times...), this time I remembered to get a pic of the blue screen.
I've installed all the updates that Windows Update had available, beyond that I don't know how to upgrade any of the drivers or system BIOS...
Well, when researching this Stop error online, I found that there are several different fixes that "might" work. First one was to update your system BIOS to the latest one for your motherboard. The next one was to update your directx files. (Go to MS Download and search for directx updates). 3rd was to update all your drivers and make sure they are direct from the manufacturer of the device you have.
The stop error for Intel chips wad due to some issue with the first generation of the i series chips. The only one I came across where the person was using an AMD was to update the MB BIOS to the latest which in his case was a Gigabyte beta BIOS but it fixed his issues. AMD was the one that told him to do so. I didn't see anywhere what motherboard you have, but if it is the Gigabyte 990FXA-UD3, the BIOS update is the fix.
Hopefully this will help. If not, Google "stop 0x00000101 error" and then read every post about it until you find the one that fixes it for you. With these things there is usually never just one fix for everyone. Wish there was, would make it soooo much easier!
Bugcheck code 0x00000101 is a "CLOCK_WATCHDOG_TIMEOUT" error.
This is essentially when a Processor stops handling interrupts. This could be caused by CPU failure or a Driver bug. I would recommend updating a few drivers, especially if files are mentioned in the BSOD (you don't mention any) yoo can look to update the associated driver. You might also try changing Power options; if you are on Energy Saving mode, switch to "performance" and vice versa; disable sleep and/or hibernate, and see if the problem goes away.
I've installed all the updates that Windows Update had available, beyond that I don't know how to upgrade any of the drivers or system BIOS... I put a picture of the blue screen in the main post. I tried switching the power option, but it didn't help.

This is what it looks like with BlueScreenView when I set the Lower Pane Mode to Blue Screen in XP Style.
In the picture, where it says "The problem seems to be caused by the following file:", the _____.exe/.sys changes from .dmp to .dmp. Nine of them say ntoskrnl.exe, six say atikmdag.sys, two say dxgkrnl.sys, one says wdf01000.sys, and one is blank.
@fm87, I don't know how to overclock. I saw the option in the BOOT menu, but I didn't mess with it. I didn't
want to mess up my computer any more than it already is.
Does it not usually mention the file/s that caused the crash?
Not if there is no file at fault.
Generally 0x101 is not caused by a single file, so it would tell us nothing but additional useless dump info.
I remember having a BSOD due to an outdated LAN driver and it showed the driver files that were causing the error so I knew what to update.
Different BSODs are called for different reasons. Software ones are nbd but something hardware like this is cause for concern.
The OP said he doesn't know how to update graphics drivers etc so I thought it might save a headache if he just posts the dump files and it points to the files that caused the problem. I might just be misremembering though, it was a while ago and might not of been a 0x101 error.
No, dumps usually point to a file, but the issue here is this one does not call from a certain file, as it's a combination of problems (or a hardware fault) that can't be pinpointed.
I ran malwarebytes, I didn't see easy tune, and I checked the Universal Serial Bus Controllers, the Sound, video and game Controllers, and the AMD SATA Controller in the Device Manager (all are already the latest version). I downloaded the AMD autoscanner thing and that said the driver is the latest version.
According to the manual that came with my computer tower, the motherboard is a ASRock A55M-HVS. I don't know much more than that.
Is the prime95 from download.cnet.com?
The last couple times it blue screened it said the file named atikmdag.sys was at fault.
Does the driversweeper/driver fusion uninstall them? And how do I reinstall them after they've been uninstalled?
I didn't see easy tune, and I checked the Universal Serial Bus Controllers, the Sound, video and game Controllers, and the AMD SATA Controller in the Device Manager (all are already the latest version).
Device manager will not tell you if drivers are up to date because it only checks the default drivers, which are always old.
I downloaded the AMD autoscanner thing and that said the driver is the latest version.
This is not the best news.

Go to asrock's site and download proper drivers for everything.

Don't download prime95 there is no reason to.

This still points to the GPU driver, try uninstalling and reinstalling (re-download as well).
Does the driversweeper/driver fusion uninstall them? And how do I reinstall them after they've been uninstalled?
Do not use 3rd party driver software, just click uninstall in control panel > programs and features.
Motherboard DriversMake sure you pick the correct ones for your operating system.
Do I need to download everything listed under Drivers on that first link? I already downloaded the AMD All in 1 and used it, but it didn't make a difference.
Is the 'AMD Catalyst Install Manager' the GPU thingy I'm looking for in control panel > programs?
Because one of them the dev used to have a hold in a known phishing group, and the other has issues with the program itself that i would recommend not using.
I heard about causing issues with it deleting files and screwing windows updates in the past, although it was easily fixable, but nothing wrong with it recently.
Unrelated, unless these programs also clear windows updates files, which means these programs are stupid and dangerous.
The update issue was that it would delete a file that was needed for SP1 in Win 7, that Windows wouldn't replace and required you to manually download to reslove. It's been fixed now though.
The fact it was messing with such files in the first place is a huge issue. I would stay away from any of these programs at all.

0x101 has very few causes. It's either a driver problem, or the CPU is having problems.
If OP really did update all his drivers, he needs to either put the thing back to stock clocks (if it's overclocked) or update the BIOS.
If neither of those work, CPU has problems.

That only contains the AMD driver for your GPU.
