So hey guys I just thought it would be interesting to see what people online are thinking about the relatively new discovery of the nutrino! Its totally off topic of minecraft but hey its cool, its relevant and it might tear a big gaping hole in E=MCsquared. Anyway I had the opportunity to be at the lecture of the man that's spear heading this new field of science, here's a link to fill in what you don't know, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neutrino , but to sum it up this is a subatomic particle that does not react physically with ANYTHING (know to man). This means as I type this there's one flying through me at possibly over the speed of light! It also means it can travel through BLACK HOLES! These things are made through nuclear physics and once created they travel... so I huge new thing which is KINDA freaky.... people have taken Infra red, gamma ray, x-ray, etc etc pictures of the sky, when we first started using nutrinos, scientists found things floating in space relatively close to earth and we have NO FREAKING idea as to what they are or what they do!
So just posts cool facts or your thoughts below! :blink.gif:
Firstly, it is spelt "neutrino" as in the italian for little neutral, and secondly, I had heard that some canadian scientists had found where the inaccuracies had come from? supposedly something to do with not calculating the theory of relativity on one of the satelites measuring the distance correctly.
Ok I'm sorry for not spelling neutrino right, my bad, and this is exactly why I posted this, to learn new and interesting things I didn't know about, relating to the neutrino!
It does react with stuff aswell. In particular it assists in creating the chain reaction in a nuclear reactor.
My guess is troll post.
That's interesting! I was under the impression that it did not react with anything, I new that, that was how it was created or something like that, but thanks!
And as I said before I am not trying to troll or whatever, but rather trying to get a better idea of whats out there, by watching what you guys post (who obviously know more about this stuff than me)!
Correct, they did 16,000 tests and (apparently) all results came back positive for the neutrinos traveling faster than the speed of light.
I guess they're not releasing an official press release about the results until they can scan all the software and hardware for flaws.
Regardless it's a big discovery not just for our generation but for the history of physics, the worlds biggest physics labratory challenging the theory of relativity, I find it exciting.

Cast aside the fear of reality, face the ****ing world.

Wow that's incredible, do you think they will be able to pull it off and prove the neutrino can travel faster than light?

WE JUST BEAT THE RUSSIANS TO THE MOON!!
They where discovered years ago, but just recently scientists have think they measured the nuetrino going faster than light

It might have been a measurement error since it was a one time thing.
Even still, it was an amazing discovery.
