Hi, I'm a builder at Shadowville Rebirth (IP=play.mcshadowville.com), the #2 "most popular" server on PlanetMinecraft, which is an RP server that's actually just about to launch Friday. We'll be using Towny and other plugins to introduce quests and leveling (in fact, we are the official server for MineQuest), and while we don't have a whitelist, we require that players register at our site before they can build (you can find out more at www.mcshadowville.com). :smile.gif:

For the moment we have a freebuild and survival world up with Factions, but Factions will be removed at launch on Friday as we believe that the nations of Towny (which will be introduced at the same time) can fulfill most of Factions' functionality, especially in the kind of RP context that we are aiming for. This means that any other player organizations such as guilds and secret societies will have to be RP-ed out, which should probably enhance the experience in the long run. Players will choose between several different pre-established kingdoms, myself being the leader of one of them, and there won't be any towns independent of these nations. Everyone will have access to skills and eventually quests, but each of the kingdoms will have unique lore, building styles, and RP opportunities, but you can only join one, so choose wisely!
Two of my very close friends bought a professional server and the host that and a forums for it. The server is up 24/7 and has amazingly nice members. It has a 60 player cap so it has no lag and has people on it almost all the time. This server restored my love for Minecraft and made me fall in love with it even more. Trust me, this server is amazing! =)
