People have been making clocks with redstone for as long as it has been around. Of all the clocks I've seen, this one is probably the longest-running one ever - a redstone clock that will pulse a signal to an iron door, opening it approximately when the universe is expected to stop existing!

Great video! He most definitely made the most useless thing in Minecraft. And to think it would need to be up, day and night, running, for 10,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 years. O_O

Cool concept, but what are the chances of a PC running this clock surviving that long? From prediction based on observable facts, the Andromeda galaxy will collide with us in "several" years. Also, will the clock function correctly if your render distance is low, as in will the end work if you stand in the beginning? Also this is inferring that our universe dies out to being at the highest entropy state and all matter converts to energy that ends up being slower than the expansion of the universe. Perhaps in 10^100 years, our universe can be reborn and some intelligent life form reproduces this. Wow, me talking about this makes me feel so depressed on how much of the universe we've missed (look at red shift from stars, too long) and how much we will miss due to not being able to travel even at the speed of light.
Based on an interesting premise to build "the most useless" contraption in that nobody will be alive to see it work, and the probability of the machine, planet, solar system, galaxy, universe won't survive to enable it to achieve its function render it useless, thus achieving its goal.
Hey, that's neat that this made it's way here. I remember seeing this a couple days ago. Now the minecraft community can learn a little about the depressing fate of the universe.

Ok, so I waited a google years, and I missed the moment where the door opened. I had to actually wait 2 google years to get to the other side of the...air blocks surrounding it. But man, that ammount of grass behind that door...that was so worth it! So glad I invented the time machine at some point.
Wow, this gives me gooseflesh.
I've always been creeped out by the abyss of time. I'm not afraid of spiders or tight places or heights or flying or darkness, but to think about aeons of time makes me feel uncomfortable.

Hmm, how macabre.
He should've just set it to a Googolplex of years instead.

Very interesting video, I didn't find it depressing though
I think it would be interesting to see if there is a correlation between those who didn't find it depressing, and those who believe in an afterlife/God. I bet there is one.

I know, right?
But you and I have a good long life ahead of us, most likely!
As has been said, depressing but COOL video.

I don't either.
Yeah I have. What's the big deal about it? Everything eventually comes to an end.
