Ok, now go on the voxelbox server, or play their map, or do something with a ton of detail. Also try to use seus shaders (There is a edition for 1.5.1, not official though). And my response to this is...
Man, this thing is awesome... I absolutely can't wait for it be publicly released. Hopefully it won't take too long for developers to start putting more official support in for it. This thing would be awesome in a massive role-playing game like Skyrim or Fallout.
that is exactly what i was thinking. if the minecraft rift starting version came with super hd shaders and smart moving mod i wouldn't be able to tell if life or minecraft was real.
I don't think I'll ever forget that Minecraft is reality, and I don't use shaders or mods.
Call me a pessimist but I just don't see this oculus rift VR gimmick going very far. I wish it didn't because it really looks cool but do you think it will be widely used? Be honest with yourself. How many people will say "Yeah games on monitors are cool but let me try this rift that makes it about a million times harder to control a game and for some people probably causes headaches and sickness after playing for longer than an hour". It might not be completely forgotten by everyone in the next couple of years like piece of human %$@# virtual boy was but I'm giving it a 1% chance that it will actually catch on and become recognized as a way to play games. This and the effort required to make games adaptable to play them on it too will makes game companies not want to do it, because... why the hell would they waste human resources on something like that.
This looks awesome but some here are saying it has limited uses but maybe they have limited imagination. I would like to know 2 things. 1) Where does it get its power supply (ie batteries, wall socket, USB) and 2) Could it connect to a 3D blu-ray player or some other 3D video player?
It might look odd but would be cool watching a 3D movie on a long car, bus or train ride...AND I could play minecraft in 3D when I got home.
Seriously this type of product is being developed to allow a surgeon to operate remotely over the internet...that takes imagination....I am sure we can come up with some more ideas here.
That may take a little more effort than knocking the product but it is more rewarding
It takes a TON of practice, but if you focus correctly, you can actually forum these two images into 1 and see this in 3D. I just did, and it's awesome. It's called cross-eye 3D. This video will show you all how to do it.
Now use what this video showed you on the video above. Enjoy your 3D.
Cool, but eh, I'll stick to simple old keyboard and mouse/controller gaming with a normal monitor. Motion controls like this are cool and all, but I don't really see them replacing what we have, simply because it already works wonders. It's certainly a neat little thing, but the "wow" factor can only last so long, as demonstrated by the Wii, PS Move and Kinect.
I do support the work put into it, though. I can only wonder what may come next.
The difference is you ACTUALLY feel like you're there.
Help me! The evil is taking me away,
its pulling me into the darkness.
Please help me, if I go in there
I will never come back, the world
is slowly drifting away. All I can
see is the pain and sorrow in my
eyes. My tears are drying up. I'm
already gone....
To be honest, the Oculus Rift doesn't excite me very much. It seems like a gimmick, at most. Don't get me wrong, it's a neat idea... I just can't see it being widely used.
Maybe not in noremal game development, but 3rd party use it will be very popular.
Now, 3D TV is a gimmick. VR is what 90s kids have dreamed about.
There used to be an amazing virtual reality thing called real life, but like the wii, kinect and ps move, it got old. Now that that joke has been removed, the Oculus Rift seems like it will become big. The problem is actually getting people to buy it. Actually, I lied. People will do anything for virtual reality in games. Therefore, the oculus rift is evil and will control our brains turning us into mindless zombies. Or will just be a cool virtual reality thing. Either way, those two realities sound pretty good.

Cast aside your festive doylaks: dragon stuff is about to happen.
Multiplayer is lonely once you understand how it actually works.
