Dudes, it's just a joke! If you look at the complete changelog, you'll see him being "removed" every other version! He was removed in 1.3, and 1.1, and probably in a lot of betas too! But it's just a joke!
How dare you?! Herobrine is not a joke! He is very serious, as is all discussion of him. Everyone that is commenting on Herobrine is NOT joking. Herobrine is dangerous! Herobrine will come for you in your sleep, and take away all of your diamonds! Just you wait! You'll see!! Herobrine won't miss you!!

My introduction to Minecraft:BOOM!!*I'm deader than a door nail.* (Me) What the heck was that? (My son, laughing) It's a mob that will explode and kill you! (Me) Gee. Thanks for the warning.
Lighting errors not fixed... and now we cannot place paintings.
Monsters and NPC's still falling into the ground.
Still playing to see what other errors they ignored for the sake of redstone junk.
Real great job there guys
(Yes children, that's sarcasm)
"Oh noes, a game company focusing on a specific crowd! What will I do now? I think I'll run around and look at all their mistakes they made... Yeah, good plan!" Yes, bugs are important, but they didn't "ignore [them] for the sake of redstone junk," this update had so many bug fixes that that thought is kind of ridiculous.
And-
I'm glad to hear about this bonemeal "nerf." It's a small step on the path to a serious -survival- game. Instant crops are more of a creative thing in my opinion, and in creative mode, you will have access to infinite bonemeal, so...
Yay, slightly harder survival! Here's hoping they make more of these changes! Excellent update!
You need a repeater after the very first line of redstone wire. The chest only powers the redstone with the very slightest charge. A repeater will turn that small charge into a full 16-strength signal.
Also, I've not gotten the trapped chest to send its signal through a wall. It works fine through the floor though.
Aha! That works. Thank-you. With a bit more experimenting, I have the trap I want. ....open chest, get warning light, ignore it much more, and the floor falls out from under you. BWAAHAAHAAAAA! Of course if you know the switch to turn off the impending trap, then rummage away all you like.

Creative Minecrafter. No build is ever really complete, just "waiting for a better/prettier mod".
Not sure if this bug was reported, but apparently if you break an item, then swap it out for another and back again you get the broken item back with zero duribility.
Herobrine has so many possibilities. He could be a final boss. He could be a gamewide game of tag. Whoever is "it" uses the Herobrine name as opposed to their usual username and kills someone to pass the curse.

Why remove herobrine? he rules!

The (original) joke is fine. It's a classic running gag and it's still funny.
Every other post in this thread being about the joke... That's what's getting (has gotten) old.
Did you know I write Science Fiction? Well I do. Check it out at http://planetretcon.com/books/

Yes... that is very scary.
More compact redstone stuff and new things will come...
1.5~
Indeed, one does not simply remove Herobrine.
Cats.
