Yay, bonemeal has been balanced! It's still a "drat" that they nerfed it, but now it's something we can live with. It is a little rougher on new games, but not totally useless.

I did some CraftTweaker scripts for Mystical Agriculture. They fill in a couple of small gaps in MA, and also let you make or duplicate not only vanilla plants, but the blocks, plants and wood from Quark and Biomes O'Plenty. Also spawn eggs for most vanilla mobs! The scripts are here on Github.
Also, try to not use "If it is not broken, do not fix it" in the future. The old texture pack format wasn't broken as well. Same goes for basically everything in the game. Wasn't it a joy to have nothing more than grass and stone? It worked so well, I don't understand why Notch fixed it and added even more blocks.
The examples you listed were in no way "fixes", they were additions used to enhance, or improve upon already existing aspects of the game. The bonemeal change is nothing more than a nerf. It has not been enhanced in any way, it's functionality was in no way improved, and nothing has been added (other than tedium). It's the same exact bonemeal as it was before, except now it just requires more right-clicks of the mouse to get the same effect as before. I hope you're able to see the difference here.
It's amazing that the amount of videos I'm finding of people going gaga over the snow.
This was actually in the game for ages. But i think it was forgotten till now. The stack able snow was hidden in the game code for as long as i can remember. It was not till Minez opened their servers that people were introduced to it for the first time. You can see this today. Load a map in the new snapshot and build a ramp with these. Take the map and load it in oldest version of MC using anvil format. The ramp of snow will still be there.
I made this ramp in the snapshot then loaded the map in a clean version of MC 1.2.5.
Also thanks to Black Mantha for the world converter that allowed me to take it back further.
This is the earliest i could get it. If i tried to load the map in earlier versions the slabs would finally disappear. So I think this was planned and forgotten.
EDIT
Just saw this. The oldest version of minecraft that supports the slabs mirrors the version it's actually being released in.
