I'm Glad to see NPCs are getting better AI. Also people remember THIS IS NOT a suggestion forum (though yes gold kind of makes more sense.) I would kind of like to see how servers handle this, meaning will they use this instead of plugins like Iconomy and Chestshop.
Awesome, except if the red coin thingies are a new ore I have to make a new world.
Which I hate doing.
Also, XB360 players might have to pay more money to use different skins?
Words cannot describe how funny I find that.
Edit: And if they are rubies, pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease let us craft them into sexy shiny ruby blocks. My castle needs another novelty room made of decorative blocks. And maybe colored torches. For sexy lighting.
And I really doubt Jeb would let us create Ruby armor and weapons, just seems unneccesary.
If they get used for anything they might be used as a new potion ingredient. Rubies are good for the bones you know.
Edit 2: Maybe have ruby blocks have like a glint effect or sparkles float around them.
ONE: First picture upper right corner there is a new ore block. This is most likely the new ruby/coin ore! The redstone is probably there to throw us off! TWO: Second picture upper center there is a new block type and it looks like concrete?
THREE: Theres a village in this jungle biome! Villages in more biomes other than plains and desert? I hope so.
All of them sound VERY awesome and exciting... Hopefully we'll see Minecraft 1.3 or a snapshot featuring these things on Thursday...

Heres a pic I put together of easily seen proof!
Yeah, the first image with the ore block with roughly gem shaped details is a strong point that the coins are rubies are something. For those saying it could be a texture chage of redstone ore, why would they put gem shaped details on a block that gives you dust?
Second one could still just be new gravel texture. But I don't think it looks "gravely" enough. It kinda looks like stone, but I can't think of anything stoneish that is found in jungles.
"Currently it is believed that the skins will be DLC for the game" Not sure? Really...because I have no doubt that this will happen.....Have fun xbox MC's playing a crappy overpriced version of the game, where you'll probably dish out 10-15 dollars for a 3 skins.
DLC's can be free ya know. It means just a separate thing you need to download
The red coins are probably made out of redstone becasue there is so much redstone in his inv?
I doubt it. Theres a lot of diamond swordsin his inv too, but that doesnt mean itsmade out of diamond swords. And if it is then explain the ore next to the tree...
Now that Testificates been improved and a new ore finnaly came sence about 18 months ago (being lapis which isn't all that useful)
Why not do the following
1)Fix the terrain
What is broken about the terrain that needs fixing?
2)Live up to YOUR (and Notch's) promises
What promises have they made that were not lived up to?
3)And fix MORE bugs(and a hint of Optimizing)
They just had a huge bugfix update. People complained that there weren't enough new features.
As if my opinion means anything, I will weigh in on the ruby theory. I don't know if they're rubies, but I am pretty sure that the ore block is the ore that gives you the rubies - if that's what they are.
Why do I think this? Look at the rubies, and then look at the ore block. The little red things in the block are the best 2x2 pixel representation you could make of the 16x16 image in the inventory, both color and shading. It's red, brighter in the upper left, and darker in the lower right.
YES! Jeb finally added Rubies to Minecraft, a feature I've been waiting for forever! He said he'd add a new ore (but only if there was a purpose for it) and I guess he made Rubies currency! And if you look at the picture closer, they aren't Redstone-made rubies. The player has a Potion Stand and there are various Pistons around the villager trap. If anything, the Redstone was used for them.
Woohoo Rubies! Does this mean we get Ruby Armor now?! :-D
I hope youre right! Rubies in in Minecraft would be AWESOME!!!
Am I really the only one who realizes Jeb has taken the screen shots at just an angle to avoid showing the noses of testificates? I think that may be important guys.
Well, if they used Anvil File format to put in new biomes? Maybe they could use it for adding new ores! YAY! NO NEW WORLD!
And there could be more currencies, like other gems and gold. Gold is the highest, and some other lower. I don't think there will be emerald, as diamonds were, for a short, very short time named emerald.

I think it's coincidence. The testificates are in little boxes so he can trade with individuals over and over to see how they react over time. I can't imagine he'd sit there and wait for them all to turn around before taking the shot. Even waiting just for the 3-5 in the foreground to all turn around is too much.
Plus, I'm pretty sure you get a tiny sliver of nose in the third Testificate away from you in picture #2, and isn't that a nose above your inventory (between the bucket and the pickaxe) in picture #1?

I like the idea of redstone being crafted into the coins or them ONLY being obtainable from villagers.
Why can't I have more than 1 link in my signature?
Which I hate doing.

because redstone doesn't have any white shine in the texture.
That's probably a currency.
I see furnaces around the area
there may be another way to make the coin?
maybe smelting redstone?
and yeah that background path looks like a re-textured gravel!
There are not any as of yet.
but heres of list of what supposedly is supposed to be accomplished by the COMPLETE finishing of the game. Link
