i cannot state how much i agree with this post, although for me any addition (most of the time) is a welcome addition
more content = more fun
but yeah like you i don't use potions, or the beacon or enchant that often so i would too prefer to have some extra tools (with new ores) or new blocks etc
doesn't mean i want the beacon / potions to be out of the game
i just prefer they add that stuff first =)
Exactly. I don't want magic stuff removed. I'm fine if they add it. They can add more of it for all I care, it's optional to use. Just, I wish they'd add other things too. Some new ores, tools, upgrades to current blocks/items. Etc. Don't focus too much on one aspect, otherwise it's gonna make the updates less interesting for the group of people that don't care about that aspect. Try to spread the updates around. Don't JUST add tons of magic things, add a little magic, but also add a few new blocks/basic items/tools/whatever too.
There's a whole inventory full of different potions, plus a bunch of other magic/halloween stuff. But then we're still using the same basic tools and armor we've been using since they were first added to the game AGES ago. Given how much the game has changed, and is still changing, I don't think it's all that much to ask for some updates to the tools and armor. Or other basic blocks that's been around for a while.(like a furnace upgrade, colored glass, colored torches, etc.) It'd be just as optional to use as the magic stuff.
I like the idea of slimes in swamps, it fits alot, and now slimes would be less rare. Also Bats should drop gunpowder because I think that gunpowder actually came from bats.
Personally, i think they should drop a new fertilizer, called "guano". Because no normal bat drops saltpeter, charcoal, or sulfur. Which are the contents of gunpowder. Just a thought. No offence. And I aggree with you about the slimes
There is a problem with breaking blocks in 12w40a. I have been doing a survival world with each snapshot(same world, just updating .jar). When I updated to 12w40a i noticed this huge problem, and it happened with every world save i tried, including ones i created with the newest snapshot. The problem is that when you break blocks, if you start to break a block for a second, and then stop or you just didn't want to break it, then you start to break another block the other block that you "half broke" becomes broken and drops.
So basically you can break blocks without even doing damage to your pickaxe if you do it right. For the time being, i switched back over to 12w39a so i could play without the bug. I know i did a pretty crappy job explaining this, cause i can't really, but if someone notices this in there gameplay, or they know what i'm talking about, please try to explain it better than me.
Thanks.
The other side of the ladder (indicated by the block outline.) Jeb, fix the ladders.
There's a good reason ladders aren't rendered from that side: people can't see through blocks. It's a small way in which memory can be saved to make the game run faster - it isn't a "bug" - it's very much intentional.

It is on the wiki. I know the bug, I've experienced it as well. I think we all have.
I don't think a shield would be that useful. For one thing, you would have to swap to it just as the mob or player strikes (unless it offered permanent protection, in which case it would be a vastly overpowered piece of armour) and that would be rather difficult to time properly, not to mention a little irritating to swap between sword and shield every second of a fight.
I figured the shield would be in your inventory, or hot bar. And right clicking with the sword out would block with the shield. If you don't have a shield, it does the normal sword block. And a shield would have a normal health bar thing like other tools.
Also the suggestion of a redstone block..I like the idea. I also think there needs to be a wheat block. And a coal and charcoal block. I wouldn't mind a way to compress cocoa beans also, because I get a bunch of them from a farm, but never really use them, so they take up a lot of room. Maybe a seed block item too, like 9 seeds equals a bag of seeds. Just some of the easy to obtain items that people get a ton of should get compressed items/blocks.
Is there a list of the new preset names for generating the superflat options? I've installed this version a couple of times now and tried out some presets but i get no trees, no caves, no grass or pumpkins etc. "tunnelers dream" lists some of the preset options but they don't work at all. and I never see villages in superflat anymore.

No, I will not subscribe to your channel because you asked... but I might if it's *good*.
I just wanted to shout out that better AI etc. for Bats would be appreciated... they're kind (aka really) pointless right now but they look like they have potential

Define Cute (choose 1): A) Creepers Aerbunnies C) Herobrine. If you chose A): You appeal to destruction and to stereotypes. If you chose B): You are a perfectly normal person, and enjoy the Aether Mod. If you chose C): Please leave the planet now before you set off a nuclear warhead--no one enjoys mass murders, however nice they might seem to you.
I found a glitch. Tested on superflat customized. place 2 adjacent blocks. start to mine the first one, then switch to the second. the first one will pop out as if you mined it

Bug found: Sometimes when I'm mining cobblestone it will randomly mine an adjacent block, no this is not lag, part of how i know is sometimes its blocks above that i wasn't even looking at.
man generating buildings of flatland is great...
i've got a map that has a village with a stronghold floating over it. gonna fill in the walls and floors of the stronghold. what's nice is there's just enough there to work with and make custom floors and stuff easy like...
it's also kinda cool seeing the floating mineshafts....

That's exactly why they released 12w40b earlier today. They updated the link at http://www.mojang.com/2012/10/minecraft-snapshot-12w40a/
