If this doesn't get thrown out immediately, I'll be effing amazed.
Reasons:
1. Mojang owns nothing by the name of Mindcraft.
2. "a system and method ... for preventing unauthorized access to electronic data stored on an electronic device" - sounds like "password authentication system" to me. Which have been used for as long as computers have existed, which is longer than Uniloc.
3. The fact that Uniloc has sued 73 companies makes it clear that they are, simply put, parasites without a case.

Well, I would agree with you, but legal teams usually do not take action on a case unless there is credible evidence to believe that they will garner profits from the case, unless Uniloc's legal firm likes to take constant gambles on their reputation of winning every case, they are banking on something we do not know.
I would like to remind everybody that sending death threats and hate mail, as well as posting the companies email, is a warnable offense. Please refrain from sending death threats and hate mail to this company.

If you are having minecraft problems, make sure to check out the help site.
Big companies are allways attacking small teams like Mojang for stupid reasons. I don't see the point in it...
Uniloc's point appears to be to try to live off of other companies by suing them over vague claims that have nothing to stand on. In all likelihood, this trial will see Uniloc trip and land flat on its proverbial face.
I read through almost this entire thread hoping to find something intelligent or useful to Mojang, but nothing. At least half of the pages have somebody re-quoting '12' and putting "Mindraft" in bold. Most, if not all, of the pages have very childish remarks. And of this entire topic, it seems there are about 10 actually useful comments or somebody trying to be useful.
So I thought I'd do my part and fill this thread with more useful crap since that seems to be the way of the MC forum community (at least shown in this thread).

UNILOC SUCKS! *insert high school ric bash* Suck some cow dung, Uniloc! You're a bunch of a-holes! yadda yadda yadda Let's hack their servers! This is absurd! *something childish and stupid to make mojang look bad*/endimmaturity
Wow, that was great!
tl:dr Good luck against this company Mojang! I'm sure you don't need any of our help, nor can I imagine that any of us have anything useful to offer you and/or your lawyers. Take your time, do your homework, and do what needs to be done to be the better man! But win, of course.
Besides Mojang getting sued, EA (Electonic Arts) is getting sued also. According to sites (which some of you might know), they got sued, and Uniloc said that their game Bejeweled 2 is the game that violates their patent [crap]. Since Bejeweled 2 is created in 2004 and this patent [crap] is made in 2005...
I wish I could offer useful information to Mojang on the subject, but this is a matter of documented copyright material versus quantifying a companies use of such a intellectual material.
How did you go about breaching the copyright, by happenstance? was it intentional? is it an exact copy I.E. using a form, manner or supplied source? How can we link the breach with the potential use for profit? when was the patent or copyright filed?
a lot of these questions will make or break this situation, hopefully their poor wording and articulation and misnomer "Mindcraft" is bad enough to have it only returned to sender, for clarification purposes.

Mojang is directly infringing one or more claims of the ’067 patent in this judicial district and elsewhere in Texas, including at least claim 107, without the consent or authorization of Uniloc, by or through making, using, offering for sale, selling and/or importing Android based applications for use on cellular phones and/or tablet devices that require communication with a server to perform a license check to prevent the unauthorized use of said application, including, but not limited to, Mindcraft.
Strange. Mojang AB doesn't have a game called Mindcraft. That's weird.
Lol what a useless suing. It's the equivalent of saying Ima going to sue Microsoft for violating my patent on electricity.
Agreed. This retard is suing major companies just to get some money for his no-name company. "A system and method... for preventing unauthorized access to electronic data stored on an electronic device." You mean safety? Seems like Ric Richardson will sue anything! "I got a new lock for my shed!" Why doesn't Ric sue me for safety? they aren't going to get a single cent from this lawsuit. It is so stupid that nobody will buy it.
I am by no streach of the imagination defending him but if he stepped dpwn dosn't that mean it's the company that is a money parasite?
you may be correct but the CEO is Ric's friend, Ric still opporates inside of the company, ergo he is shadow manipulating the decisions of the company.

If they're suing all these different gaming companies it's obviously some bozo trying to get money. Nobody heard of him before, and he can't possibly own something that all those companies are infringing upon. Unless he somehow pulled an lucasarts and trademarked the word "game" like lucas trademarked the word "droid", making it so motorola had to get permission to use the name for their phones. I should trademark "blue", that way I can sue the sky for using it without my permission.
Where in hell are we going to find 6713600 pointed sticks? Thats around the number of people who own a copy of Minecraft. More importantly, does Uniloc have enough square footage for all those spears to be crammed up their arses?
This has happened countless numbers of times since the conception of the patent system. People get a few non - detailed patents then sue every business in the Northern hemisphere. Thats why more people are supporting opensource software and ideas.

Hey, most of us are normal down here. Don't go pointing fingers at us when your state of choice probably has an equal ratio of idiots to ours.
