this idea looks great i love the idea of the upside down stairs but not what i was hoping for in defense i was hoping the villagers would take up swords and have some patrol at night and protect the village maybe have villages expand themselves and trade with other villages if any are in the immediate area. maybe have them wage war with other villages for supplys or something like that(the war idea is just a thought i think itd make things funner to go some where and explore a battlefield where npcs fought or maybe work for one village and get rewards for fighting for them?)
They REALLY need to change the texture of villagers and iron golems XD I can't stand them! I always just edit the files myself, but I think they should get past the "if we make them silly looking, nobody can say we tried and failed at making cool skins"
The Idea of upside down stairs is simply awesome. But NPC Villages continue being useless, But now they have overpowered 3-block-high unrealistic golens that gives flowers to kids?!
I really think that the villages needs protection, but they could make something more "realistic" at least.
And please, keep the focus in the Meaning of the game, which are the mining.

"Attention, test prisoners attempting to escape through the air ducts. I don't know what nonsense you learned on TV, but in real life, air ducts just go to the air conditioning unit. It's also pretty dusty, so if you've got asthma, chances are you're gonna die up there. And we'll be smelling it for weeks because, again, the air ducts aren't a secret escape hatch, they're how we ventilate the facility." - Cave Johnson
First, to the people that keep screaming "OMG JUST RELEASE THIS ALREADY!", seriously, keep screaming that for that will surely get Jeb to poop out patches faster. People keep waning the next patch out ASAP since like, forever. First people wanted 1.0 out already when 1.9 and then 1.0 RC was being toyed with and now 1.2 isn't ere soon enough. Without snapshots for bug testing, everyone would then cry that Minecraft is rushed and broken.
It's also funny how everyone complained villages were boring and now everyone says the villages are getting too much new stuff.
Cool things all around in this one. Upside-down stairs will definitely get the approval of decorators. As for the iron golem, it's really cool. I don't quite get why some people say there should just be armoured villagers. Isn't an iron golem you can craft yourself far more badass? Others complain they're supposed to fling their arms downwards, not upwards. I wouldn't want that happening. It looks really cool when one's surrounded by zombies and it flings a whole bunch of them into the air. Be happy that it at least has an attacking animation.
Then there are more haters again, but those are so short-sighted I'm not going to even try rebuking them.
Finally there are people who say it's becoming Battlecraft and it's not focusing enough on other aspects of the game. The simple reason for this is: one always desires that which he does not have. For a really long time people have been raging about the villages being stupid and useless. Now that we get some updates on them, people can't rage about that anymore and they rage about any aspect that has not received attention in this update. I think the village focus can go on for a couple of snapshots. People want more mining stuff, but they don't actually specify. Most ores that make tools are not quite viable, except for maybe one between iron and diamond. The other gaps between durability are so small that a new type of tool may be a bit trivial.
However, I do think that after the village updates are over, we can have some other gemstones, such as malachite and amethyst. They would make more decoration blocks and gemstones can easily have other functions tacked onto them later. Just don't request everything all at once.
Go ahead, wait for 3-4 more weeks for a full release of 1.2.
I hope mojang is still supporting bukkit, letting them have it early. Give us one week w/o a snapshot.
I love the snapshots, they are a good idea. I want an update every 2-4 months(or more), not every 2-4 weeks.
snapshots keep us happy in knowing what the updates are, while the game can be smooth, and have less bugs in the full versions.
Does anyone realize how much of a pain redoing perms/plugins on a server is? What about all your favorite mods now obselete?
Just take your time mojang :smile.gif:

Of course I want to count all of the ores -- all of these items in their block form you find in the ground are "ores". Since the point of mining is to find resources underground, then these all count as stuff you find mining. And there's already enough.
So, what exactly do we need more ores for?
I think I made a pretty good case. There should at the very least be a nether ore. Currently there is no good reason to mine in the nether except to gather netherrack for eternal fires. It is so plentiful one trip covers you for a life time of a play for the environement you are in. I think it is pretty clear that something is missing here.
Again it is called "mine" craft. I already granted that there are 6 ores if you include non-metals so restating it doesn't make the argument stronger. I love every one of them just as you state. But yes more is not less. It is more. I wouldn't mind seeing wooden items break very easily and adding a copper level that is just a little better than wood. Gold looks pretty but falls apart quickly as it should, so copper is not equal to gold.
I just have a hard time understanding why people fight so hard for the status quo. Heck Terraraia has many times the number of ores and each one adds to the game. It creates a something to move through so you don't end up at the end game in a few hours. Unless I am in hardcore mode or on a pvp server where other players are after me I am in a full set of diamond armor and diamond tools in hours. That's too fast.
What is another end-game option for tools going to add? "Oh it's diamond but stronger." Wow, that really added a lot to the game!
As for better than diamond I didn't mean just stronger but with other properties. Stronger is where you start, it isn't where you end. Alloys would be great. It would be nice to take copper and tin and make bronze for instance. And look just because you haven't imagined them doesn't mean we can't. Maybe nether ore armor makes "some" nether mobs ignore you the way pigzombies do. Maybe it works if you have a full set. Maybe a mix of ores makes interesting combinations so you have to decide between the right mix of durability and protection.
We already have 4 levels of tools that are identical except for their speed and durability stats. More of the same is not actually more.
You half make my arguement for me. You seem to be arguing that there is little difference between the tools we have now. Yes what you say is true if strength is the only factor. Making them "merely" stronger or weaker is setting the bar too low. Use your imagination. This is Minecraft. Many things are possible. Perhaps a different ore/crystal allows you to see previous ores through only a few blocks of solid stone (say 2-3 not x-ray which is lame IMO). Perhaps another helps brewing new potions or changes an enchantment. Anything is possible if only we don't limit ourselves.
Ask yourself this. Why would they make the visible block limit go from 256 to 4096 if they have no intention of introducing new blocks. If they are going to introduce new blocks why would they introduce no ores at all to "MINE"craft as part of that?
"More of the same because more is inherently better even if it adds nothing to the game but 'more'" is not a philosophy the makers of Minecraft share with you, and thank God for that. There are some mod makers that agree with you though, so you should check those out.
This is a strawman argument. At no point do I want or have ever said more of the same would be desired. More and different ores with different properties would be great. And, I have tried those mods and like pistons they added to the game and make mining worthwhile and interesting and not something to be ignored after hitting enough diamond to make a few blocks.
Let's not talk past each other. I love Minecraft. I really like the 6 ores we have now. I think what we have now is good and I love the changes I see coming. I am merely making a suggestion to an aspect of the game that hasn't gotten a lot of love in a good while and is in the name of the product itself.
really?
413 seems to be a number that happens A LOT, invalidating any excitement over its connection to Homestuck. :I
Villagers=Citizens.
Zombies=Enemies
Snow Golem=Ranged Tower
Iron Golem=Melee Tower
I'd like to see it implemented further :3
@ hi9580
50 zombies might do more damage to the iron golem than you might think.

It's there (shadow and particle effects) but the mobs itself is invisible.
