Looking Back at 2011
With the full release of Minecraft, it's sometimes easy to lose sight of just how far the game has come in such a short time. It's funny to think, with the inclusion of dragons and such for the final release, that it wasn't so long ago we were marveling at the addition of charcoal, noteblocks and bones. The year began with Minecraft freshly into the Beta stage, and features were added fairly regularly for a long stretch of the year. From beds to bedrock fog, Minecraft spent 2011 in a constant state of growth. As the game grew, so did the player-base; it wasn't long before over 4 million people bought the game.
For a game that wasn't technically completed yet, that's quite a base of customers!
We have shared quite a volume of content with you guys in 2011, from cool videos to lawsuits - still, one half of the power of Minecraft has always been you, the players. What awesome things do you remember from 2011 in the game? Do you have a link to a favorite texture pack, mod or story here on the forums? Tell us about it!
I think we need to stop using "minecraft has come such a long way since teh release". Just about every minecraft thing or acheivment now starts with soemthing like that.I fear for teh future of minecraft. Not sure if we are going to get very many updates from now on. D: I think my favorite mod is BTW mod btw.
I loved opening a new map and just exploring. Standing on top of a tree with a wolf, together watching the sunset. The beautiful music playing in the background as I explored new caverns and underground systems. Minecraft has become a part of our lives and I'm glad to be a supporter of Mojang.
For me I enjoy looking at all the creations players have made, and with each new block or item how those creations would change to include the new things. From simple bases to complex redstone creations it never ceases to amaze me what people think up. It is great to have a game that promotes such innovation.
I loved seeing my first mob trap, my first dungeon, even my first death. I saw many player creations and even attempted a few of my own. From simple buildings, traps, and redstone creations, It is all possible only because Minecraft existed. A year has gone by, but I think the future of Minecraft is bright indeed. With the addition of mod support the future of Minecraft will be in the hands of talented players.
Very eloquent fledrel. Couldn't have said it better myself.

Christianity in a nutshell: We have all sinned, so we deserve eternity in hell. But God (God the Father, God the Son, and the Holy Spirit) loved us so much he sent His Son to die for us, to take the punishment meant for us. All we need to do is accept it, and we have heaven headed our way.
