To be honest I had to do a lot of problem solving when building stuff and designing redstone circuits. School isn't just about memorizing stuff about certain subjects, it's about acquiring mental skills (and physical too) such as problem solving, hard work, motivation, creativity, team work, finding novel solutions, rationing, organizing, acquiring new information and more... and this game can very well stimulate these mental skills if done properly. It can actually be MORE effective than classical teaching due to the fun nature of the game and interactivity.
Many of you need to see what school is really about, sure you need to know how to write and do arithmetic and know history... but a lot of the stuff you learn you will also forget... skills on the other hand stay longer and aren't forgotten as easily.

I agree with this post. Being a student myself, with ADD I might add, focusing on things is not my key skill. I often find myself playing out "scenarios" with my supplies. But when the learning is presented in a fun new way that appeals to me I find myself sitting intently wanting to learn more!
I can see how in certain classes this would be a fantastic tool, but from the website and the first post all I see is buzz words and selling of thin air.
If I was a potential customer, this is what I'd be asking:
Just what exactly do YOU think minecraft could be used for?
and:
Just what exactly are you adding or doing to minecraft that enhances that?
This seems like a great idea, but I do wish to know exactly how minecraft could teach something, especially STEM-related topics. If programming is an area of focus, that is understandable, as are logic gates for discrete mathematics perhaps, but beyond those, I just cannot see how minecraft could be educational.
Teacher: Jimmy put that TNT down

i used mc for 1 of my projects in history! I had 2 doors and played the 2 answer games. If they go thru the right door, they go on, but if not, they die in lava& get 2 min to restudy (the 2 min. taken up by a minecart ride HEHE)! I got 110% on my prject! Very long building to make though! 20 questions with winding halls!
The first thing I'm gonna do if this gets into my school is get flymod into it and laugh at the other people not being able to fly, or at least fly faster than them if creative mode is enabled xD
