Why the crap do we need two different dragons? Why can't Notch just make a decision on whether or not he wants them to kill blocks and make that the only dragon? There are more and more prefix mobs added to this game with every damn update these days...
I'm guessing he's doing it so that he can put epic griefer dragons in the End, and normal, non-griefer dragons in the overworld.
First: The Dragons and EnderDragons are different. The EnderDragons are the ones who "accidently" decimate the terrain.
Second: They arent done yet, theyll likely be able to land and breathe fire when theyre done.
Third: If you dont like it, two things: keep difficulty off, or go do something else.
Fourth: If it is a new ore, its top secret. My guess is either hes retextured a block, Notch uses mods himself, or a guess on the method of how the game darkens areas. What I think on how the game darkens areas is it desaturates and darkens. SO it could be iron. It was just dark.
Fifth: It can fly through blocks. It lives in a realm of endersand and obsidian towers. It has more polygons than anything else in minecraft.
It is the most interesting dragon alive.

Unless he reskinned iron for some stupid reason it is a new resource. http://i.imgur.com/cQNm2.png Here's a picture taken of the pause at 1:07. It's clearly silver/white.
*sigh*, Personally, I think that the dragon is too round for Minecraft. It looks like something from wow, not MC. Notch, if you could, could you please make the dragon model look a bit more minecraftish? thanks

Don't make things too complicated.

And making the creepers look like the amateurs they are.
