From what I've read/heard 1.8 won't be released till notch modified initial 1.8 code based on PAX reactions. So who knows how long that will be.
This sounds pretty accurate, although this could just be the case for features that are still considered "incomplete". Hopefully this will be the case, because it seems like the majority of what was shown in the streams looked fine. That, and I'm really pumped to try out the new creative mode. I wonder why tools are in the item menu if you wouldn't need them in the first place anyway?
Early release? If this isn't a lie, I guess it'll give me time to confirm how much work The Nostalgia project will be :tongue.gif:
In a more serious note, if XP was to make it into this release I guess it would give me an idea of whether Mojang played their cards right when it comes to the entire experience system. My opinion on the XP system has always been biased on whether or not Notch and Mojang will play their cards right considering it and make it actually fun. I'm currently a bit afraid because they said "you lose your items" at one point without confirming whether they get scattered or not. If they don't get scattered, this will kill the entire system for me :/
Maybe, I can finally get a chance to test whether or not the hunger system is actually usable or not, but I'm not really full of confidence yet...
Wow can't wait. This is going to be amazing!!!! I wonder if he is still adding joints to the character. Cause running and swimming still look kinda funny, but its still pretty good. 1.8 HERE I COME!!!!!!

11/11/11 is 1.0 "launch" release date(version will be changed back to 1.0 but with "launch" instead of "beta" for the version descriptor. 1.8 and 1.9 will be released between now and launch date. Some people have been getting that confused, probably mostly because notch's original adventure post had 1.8 all over it.
This will occupy me till gears of war 3 comes then after that the only time i will be playing minecraft is when my friend begs me to get on or i go to my friends house.
