READ THE ENTIRE POST, AND THIS ISN'T A HATE THREAD.
I've had enough of this. Has anyone else noticed how people have been buzzing around like flies saying "BRING MINECON 2013 TO <country name here>"? Seriously, Mojang chooses where minecon 2013 should be. It's very annoying seeing people whining for minecon to be somewhere ridiculous, like their unheard-of hometown or their backyard. The people who actually want minecon 2013 to be in a well-known city are all just suggesting it to be near somewhere minecon has already been, such as some American city or London.
The threads that have been made to vote for minecon 2013's location are just centered around bringing it to America or Europe again. I've seen two threads that originally or STILL ARE suggesting to bring minecon to America AGAIN. The logic I've seen in people is so stupid. It goes like this:
Yeah, my home country America is SOOOO awesome it deserves to have minecon again! All those countries like Australia and China are so poor and swarming with diseases, so America will have minecon again because it's so awesome!
The people with the quoted logic are usually children with absolutely no knowledge of any other countries economy. Besides, if minecon was brought to Europe or America again I would be willing to bet a large sum of money that some American kid is going to start a topic saying "Bring minecon 2014 to America!" and the whole process will repeat itself. Calling me a liar? I have examples. These go to show how people want minecon near or at where they live and how selfishly they are thinking.
Either Canada or US. I chose the US 'cause that's where I live.
Specifically, it should be in my backyard.
Why in the world would they hold it on the west coast of the U.S. again? They need to hold it on the east coast of U.S. instead. Everyone over there on the west coast got their chance, now it's time for the east coast people. Also, for everyone saying that it shouldn't be in U.S. and Europe, you're stupid. Half of the countries you are suggesting they go to are far too dangerous and are filled with diseases. Besides that, wouldn't they want to stay in a place where everyone speaks English? If you want it in Japan, then all of the people of Mojang and famous minecrafters would have to learn their language, or else no one would understand them.
The bottom was my favorite one. Just shows people's ignorance... Or the risks a troll is willing to take, for that matter. I didn't use names since I wanted to conceal their identities. And no, they are real, I got them off of the "Minecon 2013" thread if you're interested in seeing it.
Now I know that someone might say how I'm singling out Americans, but it's everyone who is doing this. The problem is that 99% of the people suggesting the location for minecon 2013 are suggesting the country that they live in. There's no point of listening to a community suggesting like that so Mojang is definitely choosing where the next minecon is for themselves.
Please, I myself am not suggesting where minecon should be (Anymore at least) and I beg for everyone else to do the same. Suggesting a country that isn't yours? Good for you! An unselfish act. Suggesting that it should be America AGAIN just because you live in America and you think it is so grand and mighty? Stop living in your dream world. I know there are people who are saying "But I can't go to minecon if it's not in America/Europe!" well tough luck. Should've saved up at the time and went. Just because you didn't go doesn't mean that minecon should come to your country all over again.
Now, Mojang will pick at random a country that hasn't had minecon before, so they don't look racial at all. Stop trying to make America have minecon again just so you can go or show America off in front of the world, you'll never get minecon there.
Now, just to clear things up. NO flaming or whining about minecon. No yogscast debating, no racist posts on how you think your country is better than others, just simple agreement/disagreement. That's all I ask for. No immature posts saying "IN MY BACKYARD IN AMERICA PLZPLZPLZ". Besides, this thread isn't for suggesting locations. DO NOT SAY "You lost your temper over 2 threads?" because I'm not angry, just tired of people wanting minecon to be in the same country twice when it will never be. You can't maturely justify minecon being in the same country twice with iron-hard supporting points (Don't even try).

To all of you people who think Notch is still working on the game, he stopped working on Minecraft in late 2011. Get your facts straight and stop spamming his twitter about Minecraft updates.
I'm not really one to try to fight where a con is, I'd rather put my focus on saving up and being prepared to go wherever it decides to be. So when it's announced, I'll be ready to purchase the plane ticket (If it's far away or overseas)
I have to fully agree with you on this topic, most people posting in the threads about where Minecon should be (it's already stupid that there's more then one thread out there on this) are heavily suggesting that it should be close to where they live. People are naturally selfish in this behavior it seems.
I recall I commented in the one topic that it should be Japan cause it would be hilarious if it was called Mainukuraft Con, I myself live in Europe so I would never get to visit Minecon then, nor does that really bother me.
Mojang will surely pick a suitable place for their Minecon, and no doubt people will whine and complain when it is not anywhere near them, well I agree with the tough luck comment, you know Minecon is coming, you can safe up long before it is announced, so you got sufficient finances when it's far away, and extra pocket money when it's close by.
So in short, stop being selfish people and just safe up for it when it comes.
Yes you are very right Mojang does decide where ever Minecon will be hosted
People need to stop complaining they decide not you
Australia does not have disease who ever said that is very wrong, also America isn't the most important country in the world but people think the world revolves around America......
Really people should stop making assumptions about countries

Hey guys I have just changed my name from AidanNC to BlueProto
Just doing this so you know who it is
I agree 100%. If any of what I'm going to say is offensive, I apologise in advance.
Well wherever it goes it will help with that country's tourism, like with 2016 Olympics in Rio, 2022 FIFA in Qatar, 2018 Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast. This year it's helping to promote Disneyland and Paris. People who go to Minecon this year will probably go sightseeing around Paris (If they haven't already).
Selfish Americans think that our country is poor? Excuse me, America had to go through a recession because of the GFC, and are probably going to go through ANOTHER one (I don't know much about American economy - just acknowledging that fact, I may be wrong). Australia pulled through the GFC. Guess what, no recession. I could keep rambling on.
Those who put up posts like that are completely immature (problably racist, as well), have NO idea about other countries' economies and they want everything for themselves. 2012 isn't in America, tough luck. I can't go either. See me complaining about that? I don't.
Also with people saying that Minecraft will die next year are completely wrong. It might die in like 20 years time (who knows?) but not next year, come on! I say it will probably die when Pokemon dies (again, who knows?). There are some people who like old games (I personally like Space Invaders and Asteroids). Again, I can keep rambling on (I'm only 17).
Overall, Mojang will pick the next place. It'd be nice if it was in Australia or New Zealand next year, but it's their choice, not ours. Did anyone suggest Disneyland to them? I don't know. It'll help with the tourism.
It should spread around the world, so EVERYONE gets a chance. I'd also like to see the Pokemon World Championships come down south, as well. Doesn't have to just be America & Europe who get stuff. Pokemon is worldwide, and so is Minecraft (look at me, comparing Minecraft to Pokemon, how crazy is that?)
People should really stop whinging. I don't mind the suggestions about where it should go, but I don't like people who are completely immature, ignorant, and up themselves, putting up immature, ignorant, and selfish posts. Those who do that shouldn't go to Minecon, that's that.
People will always want to take the shortest path to success when they want something, any Minecrafter will want to take a chance for a piece of Minecon action, heck I want the next Minecon here in Asia, but as you said, Mojang chooses not us.
I may have gone a bit overboard in what I said. People can suggest where it can go, but my point is: Do they have a valid and logical reason behind it? Taking Minecon to somewhere like Asia or Australia would not only get people from there to go, but it would make Minecraft grow even more (there's my valid reason).
If it goes back to the US, whatever, I don't care. It's Mojang's choice. Still, did anyone suggest Paris to them? Or was it Mojang themselves?
Meh, I'm fine with an intelligent discussion about suitable Minecon locations (I think Sydney, Australia, my home city, would be a good choice, but I wouldn't be too angry if it were somewhere else), but I agree, those American kids are really annoying.

No, there has never, ever been a sandbox game with a story or ending... except Grand Theft Auto... and Saints Row... and Red Dead Redemption... and Crack Down... and Assassins Creed...

i mean you are so right no one should whine about minecon 2013 being in some middle of nowhere place with not enough room to host it. But you do need to think that they are just suggestions, nothing bad is gonna happen because of simple SUGGESTIONS!!!
Have a couple of different events or something, maybe one in US/Canada, one in Europe, one in Asia, and another wherever they want. AND LOWER THE GODDAMN PRICE! $90?!

Neckbeards! Doctor Cichocki does not approve of stupidity and neither do I, stop the spread of damned useless rules!
You can't maturely justify minecon being in the same country twice with iron-hard supporting points (Don't even try).
I don't need to justify it, it justifies itself. Maybe you see it as the Minecraft World Tour, but that's not true. Mojang should totally hold Minecon in the same country twice if it's the best choice based on all the other criteria they go by. "Giving everyone a chance" is a nice thought and all, but face the truth. Everyone wants a piece of Mojang, and the number of Minecraft fans living in whatever country you want next is dwarfed by the number of people who don't live there, yet still want to go to Minecon.
Also, I notice your Location isn't there, but I have a sneaky little feeling it's not the USA or Europe and the reason you're so angry about this is because you want your country to have a better chance.
I think the price should be higher. When tickets can go on sale and be sold out almost instantly, that's a very good reason to think they're charging a lot less than the tickets are really worth to people. Which, in turn, encourages the disgusting practice of ticket scalping.

"Sometimes, I just wanna give up, say 'I'm done with this mess' and go to bed. But you know what; you can't shrug off your responsibilities. You got to pull yourself up and meet the challenges head on. That's the only way you're gonna get ahead in life."
Well, I half agree. I don't think it should be in the same place twice. The people who want it there again already had the chance to go to Minecon ( they already got the chance to get an EPIC cape!) I don't think Mojang will do it in America or Europe anytime soon. But also they might listen to suggestions ( just not America and Europe ones) because they want it where more people will go. So if lots of people suggest they want... Canada for example that would mean lots of people who play Minecraft live in Canada. And if they need help choosing where to put it Minecraft fourms is really popular! I think they want to make it more accesible by putting it somewhere where most people live. Also they want to give others a chance to go. Im 50/50. Just no America or Europe probably.
I live in the U.S. and I do believe it should be back here again, and no, don't blow up yet.. I'm am reasonably sure that the majority of Minecraft players are in the U.S. Minecon could be held a bit further from Vegas though, like Disney World, New York, or Chicago. I'm just thinking of the statistics here, now if I really am wrong about most players in the U.S., then the majority of the conventions should be elsewhere.
Well, I just spent almost an hour typing my response and an advertisement popped up and would not let me come back to this page. ._.
Basically, of course you blame children for you getting annoyed by threads YOU clicked on and YOU read!
I live in North America and I think Sydney would be a beautiful setting for hosting Minecon this summer, or Canada next winter, perhaps.
Most of Minecraft's fans are probably in Europe and the Americas.
And you say "It is not just America that's doing this; it is everyone..." Yes, everyone in the entire world wants Minecon in their country."
I am going to guess that MOST MINECRAFTERS (not everyone in the entire world) would want Minecon in their country, however MANY of those people would gladly hear (or read) other suggestions as well as maybe agree with the suggestions even if it will cost more money for them to fly farther. Please refrain from overgeneralzation.
Mojang cares. I only enjoy games which are about the players (for example: The Legend of Zelda, Minecraft, Curiosity - what's inside the cube?) Mojang truly cares about its players. This is a game which the community helps Mojang decide what to add to the beautiful game. Perhaps instead of clicking on a thread you know you are going to be angry at (ahem* excuse me: be TIRED of,) you should ignore the post.
Sincerely,

Exactly. Minecon 2011 was about the full release, but this year's, as Lydia even said at the opening ceremony, was about the community. The Minecrafters, The Cobalt fans, the Scrolls fans, all those that have helped Mojang become what it is today.
However some people don't know they're going to be mad until they read it. To be honest, I didn't realise what some people have said until I read it from this thread (hey, that rhymes).
I think next year's Minecon will be the official handover of Minecraft to the Modders with the upcoming API.
