So about two weeks ago I was thinking about werewolves. in my thoughts, I realised that in order for them to truely be werewolves, there has to be a change. This is a must, because it adds to the creepy spooky ness of them, that realization that your not safely locked in a bunker with your closest friends, your locked in a bunker with the monster...
so in order to present the werewolf, I must first introduce the host. The traveler (or traveling merchant, gypsy.... All names accurately describe this fellow) the traveler looks similar to a viliager, as he is another "human". He would look more dressed for traveling. Maybe wear some sort of hat, and if possible, not have his arms folded like a monk. Also he would have a sword at his side, you simply can't be too careful out in the wild.
on rare occasions determined by the type of moon (leading up to a full moon) travelers have the chance to spawn (a great distance) from the player. Either alone or in small groups (2-3... 4 at most) they would all spawn in roughly the same direction from the player. They then travel to the roughly the exact oppisite side of the player, so that they have a good chance of crossing paths (unless he's underground). around the time of the full moon, travelers are (if able) within 20-50 blocks of the player. Travelers, like villagers, are capable of trading. Unlike viligers, travelers are not limited to their trading (can trade items that a butcher Librian farmer or blacksmith could). Travelers also charge much more for their trades. The upside is, travelers have the potential to have incredibly rare powerful trades (high enchant stuff, or diamond things, ect) at an even higher cost. these would be one time trades however, that particular traveler would not offer again.
should you attack a traveler, he would attack back in the same fashion as zombie pigmen. All nearby travelers draw their swords and engage. It can be assumed that they wear armor under their clothing (chain mail or leather most likely) and they are capable of using ladders or doors to get to you. They drop nothing when killed, maybe experiance.
this is where things get interesting. On a full moon, villagers have a chance to turn into a werewolf. Not all are infected, but the ones who are are formidable indeed. The were wolf is capable of jumping a few blocks high (possibly random) the werewolf would have a decent health pool, with a very very slow health regen. His speed would be somewhat slower than a zombie baby, and his attack would be a swipe from his claws. After each swipe (with knockback) he takes a brief pause(as if waiting for you to stand again) before attacking again. He is capable of destroying doors to get to you. I wanna say he can climb walls, but we all see how well that works for spiders. His sense of smell and aggression. Towards the player means he will come at you from a decent distance, and prevent you from sleeping the moon away.
upon death he would drop... Idk, his pelt or something? Maybe decorate your floor with it like a carpet... Use it in a super potion that gives strength healing and nightvision?
his model would be standing in two legs, and would Be able to fit though the same spaces as a player (even if he looks a little bulkier than a player)
i dont have have a suggestion on how much damage or health they have, because I'm aware that somethin like this would require some trial and error to ballence out properly.
