I think it would be really cool for those who want to build borg regen stations or maybe a standing vampire coffin that vertical beds be created. Sounds goofy to have a standing bed, but I'm sure that "something" can be added that is a vertical sleeping station, same size, just up and down instead.

An interesting idea. More needed than the sponge block. I support. If I were to choose, I would add a so-called coffin block, where it's vertical by default. Now that I think of it, how would you make a normal vertical bed?

Just 'cause my name's MasterHalo, don't expect me to be GOOD at Halo.
Recipe should be simple for something vertical/horizontal with a door like a coffin lid or borg chamber or cryo-tube, I'd suggest:
2 chests and 1 bed... might have to have separate recipes for vertical v. horizontal as I don't know how to fix to orientation for placement otherwise....
horizontal sleeping chamber = three in a row: chest / bed / chest --or-- a vertical sleeping chamber (to toggle orientation)
vertical sleeping chamber = three in a column: chest / bed / chest --or-- a horizontal sleeping chamber (to toggle orientation)
You could use skin packs to fit your genre preference (vampires v. sci-fi)
Yah, the beds being vertical wasnt really the idea, i agree it would look funny to have a bed standing upright, but if thats all they could do to implement it, I'd be satisfied... I was looking more for a vertical sleeping block, as you have understood it

This should just be a vertical version of a normal bed IMO, because then you could use a texture pack or build a coffin/cyro chamber around it, and you could just have a vertical bed so you can open up your Minecraft while someone is watching over your shoulder and they'll freak. Also, I can see mapmakers using it quite creatively... Although it wouldn't be at the very top of my list for things that Mojang should add to Minecraft, it would be a really cool mod, and I would be happy with it being in the real game. Support.
Have some redstone contraption set up so that it can start out on the ground and when your guests come over all you have to do is press a button and Boom your bed fold up and away into a cupboard.
Yesterday I was on my way to class, when a black cat fell from the sky. I didn't really know what that nonsense was about so I asked him if I could step around him because he was bad luck, but he simply meowed and then disappeared. I was a bit worried that maybe he'd teleported to Afghanistan or somewhere equally dangerous, but a wizard came and assured me that it was alright. I threw my Zune at him because I was 78% sure he was lying. The wizard roared at me and sentenced my mother to thirty five years of chain smoking. I was sad.

I am sorry MasterHalo. I didn't mean to have a contradictory title. My original suggestion is a bed that is vertical> I'd be happy to see that down the roaad sometime that way becuse like PatrickDD said, we can build around it to look the way we want. The coffin block idea was kinda, like, hey if possible can we go a step further.. If not I'd still be content. Thanks for the criticism. I will be more prepared in the future to make a better suggestion setup than this one if the opportunity arrises.
Thanks y'all!

I don't support. Other than it being used for creativity, there doesn't seem to be a much needed use for this, in fact, if you were in a survival world sleeping in a vertical bed, it makes it easier for you to be shot and killed with an arrow. If you can't come up with another use for this,it really isn't "plausible" to Minecraft.
Most people don't sleep where they are going to get shot to begin with. A few things in the Xbox Edition are already inplausible, IMO. I don't think another reason than creativity is needed, RedOne.. The whole aspect of minecraft is nothing but a creative game(it is in the genre of Sandbox Games), whether you're in survival or creative modes.
I try to think of another reason, but I can't come up with one. I do apologize my suggestion is good for only one thing. I honestly thought an aesthetic addition like this would have been cool. But if it's inplausible, then I s'pose it isn't as good as I thought. Either way, I'm going to continue to try to get it to look like a person is sleeping standing up in the meantime, lol.. Thanks for the insight TheWizeRedOne

I like the way you explained that. Looks like this idea isn't implausible after all.

I suppose... IF you don't want a door to it.
