Hello fellow minecrafters, I've been spending time here and there trying to find "epic" minecraft seeds. And I may have figured out what typically creates better seeds. Keep in mind i'm doing this with the xbox edition. I've never played the PC version so I'm not sure what this would do in the PC version.
It seems a though some words with certain letters give better seeds. The letters that I'm referring to are: a,b,e,g,m,l,u,s,r
These letters mixed into one word seem to give better maps. My thought on a good map is having very tall mountains, with some pretty crazy looking formations in them, as well as having a fair ammount of flat land. Also haing one of each biome (snow, dirt/forest, and sand/dessert.)
I've been having alot of success useing these key letters. Typically these maps generate larger mountains, bigger and wider hills, and pretty large areas of very flat land. They seem to be more dirt/forrest orientated. Sand/dessert is the second most occuring, and snow maps are least likely. I've also noticed they make pretty nice lakes/ponds.
The seeds I've been putting in don't make "epic" material maps, however, they do make pretty nice maps, One's that are surely better than average.
Here are some of the seeds I've put in that gave good results (all are lowercased, and have no spaces in them.)
I've found more seeds that are good that aren't listed, but I wanted to share a few so you can see for yourselves. About 85% of the seeds I've made useing these key letters made pretty good maps. I'm still going to make them from time to time to try and find really good maps. So I'll keep you all posted on my results. Go ahead and try this method yourselves, and see how it works for you. Maybe It's all just coincidence, or maybe I've found the key to finding better minecraft seeds
There is absolutely NO relationship to be found between a resulting world and the characters and their placement in a text seed.
See my post #410 in the Seeds FAQ. ( about half way down this page: http://www.minecraftforum.net/forums/minecraft-discussion/seeds/325180-seeds-faq?page=21)
This explains how text inputs are "hashed" into the actual numeric seeds that are used by the pseudo random number generator that controls all decisions that take place in the Minecraft world generator.
